Edit: In response to the Customer Relations message - no, I have no intentions to interact with Mavis again. Ever. Its over. Judging from the long list of negative, similar reviews regarding customer service from this site, there has been ample time for Mavis to address this. Its useless for Mavis to "help resolve this matter" when instead you should have prevented it. You failed to do so. As a result, I had to deal with this terrible service, and will never give Mavis another dollar. Thats it. Thats how it goes. A couple years ago, this was the only place Id consider for tires, alignment, or minor maintenance. Even though I was hung up on three times yesterday, this is where we took our mini for tires yesterday. I got a call from my wife to speak with them about the brakes, and had already decided that Id let them have the business if they said I needed a brake job. When I tried calling, I was hung up on twice. When I finally got someone to speak to me, he gave me a confusing explanation (sounds like front pads are near the end, though the sensor isnt tripped) and when I tried to clarify, he wanted to drone on and on. I made the decision Id do the work myself (I typically do my own brake jobs - have done so for decades) and politely told him as much. He then went on about how Id need a computer, and "everything is computerized these days..." as if that would scare me into letting them do the job. The rest of the conversation devolved, as he started talking over me while explaining that theyd charge me a storage fee because I cant pick the car up today. He just kept repeating himself, even though I wasnt protesting the charge - I just wanted to know what it was. He wouldnt stop repeating himself... I broke in to explain that hed already lost business because of the sites poor customer service, and I wasnt having anymore of it. He asked if I was through, then made it a point to clearly hang up on me. So Ill pay the storage fee (still dont know what it is), and Ill pick up the car tomorrow. But I am not bringing another dollar to Mavis. I have a jeep in need of five tires, new shocks and some other minor service. I have every intention of bringing that to Town Fair Tire in Brookfield before the end of the month. I have another mini (like the one currently at Mavis) that could use tires in the next year too, and guess where I wont be going... Thats right - Mavis. I dont know what happened to this store - I dont really care either, I really just wish they didnt suck so badly now.

My review is mixed mainly because while they had the exact tires I was looking for and their price was ultimately about what the estimated, I get the feeling that they make a lot of money off of people who arent very knowledgeable about cars. Ive worked on cars for a long time but I lack tire changing equipment so Im sort of at the mercy of shops like this. I made an appointment online to have the two front tires on my wifes car replaced. The appointment was a good move because the place was jammed on a Saturday morning after the first snowfall of the season. After getting the talk about how the cupped tires I described were probably caused by worn suspension, I left the car and was told "about 30 minutes" to mount and balance two tires. After wandering around next door at Home Depot for about 40, I headed back over to Mavis to find my car on the lift, but with all four tires wheels off. When I asked why the rears had been pulled, I was given the dismissive answer that it was for a "safety check". When I commented that I was only looking to have the two tires replaced I was given the equally dismissive comment that "it doesnt take that long to take a wheel off." So I sat down and waited... for about another 40 minutes or so, while nobody was paying much attention to my car. Only then were all four wheels mounted back on the car and it was pulled out of the bay. When I checked out, I dealt with a completely different counter guy, and surprise, surprise, not a word about the "safety check". Ultimately, the aggravation was worth it; the new tires match the old tires and my underlying noise/vibration is gone. I just have a feeling that if I wasnt watching like a hawk that they would have found all sorts of "safety" issues to up-sell me on.

I have been going here for years..I have bought many tires and alignments from them.on many different cars and trucks....i never had any problems.. until they Way Over tightened the lug nuts on my truck..i broke my 4 way tire wrench just trying to remove the lug nuts..soo that I could take my tire off..to replace the breaks and tie rod ends..Not a big deal I went to mavis on Saturday to have my lugs loosened..just so that I could get my tire off.without stripping another lug nut..or break the stud... "Joe" said he he was real busy..and I had to come back at 5 pm then they could fix it... I got upset and walked out,,, If a customer comes in like I did requesting that a mistake be fixed,, They or me in this case should be put in the Front of the waiting line and not the ..Back of it.. I shouldf became a priority... especially just to re tork my lug nuts to the correct specs ..so I could at least get them off..it should take no less than 5 min,,, if your slow..that is all that I was asking.. In my line of work I DO NOT have the option to tell a customer..to come at 5... when it is convenient for,,, Me ...if they have a roof leak.. or I accidently drop a tree on a customers,, house.. I cant just tell them to come back at 5 after I sell more roofs or tree removals .... business is business....but more importantly is/... Morals.. bottom line is thats what is Right is Right... no matter what you do for a living...

Today (5/25/2013), I finally got my wheels back from Mavis Discount Tire in New Milford, CT. Exactly 3 weeks ago I went there to get my 2 front wheels mounted and balanced with new tires. After picking them up, I noticed that one of the wheels was clearly dropped face down (the whole outer lip was scratched and chipped all around). Also, both wheels had chips all around the center cap area, to the point that you can see the chips even with center caps on. I contacted them back and they agreed to refinish my wheels. I was told the turn around time for refinishing wheels is usually 1-2 days. Finally after getting the run around for 3 weeks, I get them back. Most of the issues have been fixed, but you can clearly see that the person who worked on them wasnt careful. There are a few scratches around the polished lip and another chip on one of the spokes. I chose to just take the wheels before they completely destroy them. What kills me the most is that someone at Mavis clearly dropped the wheel and never said a word (hoping I wouldnt notice). That place never takes care of anyones car/property. Doesnt matter if you bring a Ferrari to them, theyll treat it like a regular Honda Civic. Moral of the story, never go there. A task that shouldve taken 30 minutes to complete, took 3 weeks. Sloppy work and customer service.
