Bought a 2001 dodge ram 1500 with 1080000 miles on 5/28/13. Took it for a test drive and everything seemed alright there was some cosmetic issues but nothing that i couldnt look past. Eric had promised me that it was one of the cleanest and well maintained trucks that has ever come through his shop and everything is perfect. He promised me that i would have no issues with the truck anytime in the near future, he showed me the car facts and it checked out ok, so stupid me i trusted him. About a month after i started noticing a noise coming from the rear / loss of power. I took it to my trusted mechanic that Ive been going to for years and is trusted with my fathers fleet vehicles. I told my guy to just go through the truck and give it a once over since the only people i have trusted has been the word of Shoreline Auto Sales . Turns out that my rear brakes were actually broken! not only that but the truck also needs shocks, suspension, all new ball joints, air box on the throttle body was loose, a new battery because its missing the box and the rubbing on the frame is causing acid to leak. Im convinced that this truck was never even looked at. within a month i have two safety issues?! on top of all the maintenance that was never done to this truck. Just for the hell of it i called another mechanic buddy i have and had him come take a look and also realized that the master cylinder was leaking....GREAT. I called Eric back and he told me that i should bring it down, when i told them i already had my guy do it he told me theres nothing he can do at this point and wouldnt help me out.(why would i bring this truck back to him...shouldnt they have found these issues the first time around? My guy did, I wasnt about to get fooled twice) coming from a business family i know the importance of making customers happy, but when i asked him to help with some of the bill and make it right he said there was no way, he didnt have the "authority," ( I had some of the work done for 375 he wouldnt go half, he wouldnt give me a cent towards my bill, (as if i got the brakes done for fun) i guess 185 bucks is to much money to keep a customer happy.) and since when does a general manager not have authority to keep customers happy? It was clear that he just wanted to get me off the phone as quickly as possible. Long story short bring your own mechanic when checking out vehicles at Shoreline Auto Sales in Branford. Dont trust what they have to say, unless you want to pay thousands in repairs that they will neglect to tell you, your choice thats just my two cents.

WOW--they not only sell cars with problems, they LIE about the experience afterwards. STAY AWAY!! We purchased a vehicle which had problems within 8 weeks after purchase. The vehicle was taken to a trusted mechanic which showed 3 transmission codes. We then brought the vehicle back to their shop to have addressed. Their response was that they took the car for a drive and everything was fine and most likely faulty sensor. The vehicle was then brought to one of the shorelines well respected transmission specialty shops. We paid out of pocket $300 to have a full analysis done on the vehicle. It was found that their was metal in the transmission fluid and clogging the filter. This was changed. This mechanic instructed us to drive the vehicle 5000 miles and then have it checked again. This auto is for a 16 year old whom does not drive long and would take until spring to put that many miles on, at which point the Budget Warranty (please read the fine print on their warranty plan) would be up. Once I realized that a proper fix was valued at over 80% of what I paid for the call I spoke to Alison. At NO point did she tell me that they can fix the car for under the $1000 warranty value. Shoreline Auto Sales poo pooed the issues that we were having and completely undermined the seriousness of the issue. They drove the car and said it was fine. Two weeks went by and the engine light went back on. The car was taken to the specialty shop where we paid another $300 to have the pan dropped and checked the fluids. He was surprised on how much metal was in the pan, more than the last time. It was determined that a new transmission was needed. The problem was so severe that it was very apparent that this issue dated well before our purchase. I believe the engine codes were present when they purchased the car and were manually cleared before I did, very dishonestly. The cost was around $3000. The warranty covered $900 (1000 less deductible of $100). Alison is very DISHONEST when she said that they could fix the car for the $1000, have me watch and have a mechanic sign off. DID NOT HAPPEN. I would say it is a gamble to business with these people, however, the odds are more against you than for you. They buy garbage and then sell it. My hope is to save others from going through the same BS that we had too. VERY UNTRUSTWORTHY.

PURCHASED A TOTAL PIECE OF CRAP FOR $2,500.00. From day 1 nothing but problems. The Vehicle is a 2000 Ford Taurus 130,000 miles The First month or so after purchase it was back and forth to their shop for relatively minor fixes that for some reason could never be completed. On a few trips, the car was their for days, without being touched, then requested we pick it up as they were waiting on “a part”. When purchased, the car was supposed to have its fluids changed and this 25+ point safety inspection. After examining the vehicle, no fluids were changed, it was also stated the right front ball joint was replaced, that does not appear to have been done. 2 trips were made to get a pulley fixed (again was supposed to be repaired prior to picking up ) Within a day of purchasing the car the check engine light went on, to which the reply was “its probably evap” which in seeing other complaints seems to be a common excuse. (I replaced the gas cap $15.00) Also, the tires were supposed to be fixed, this did not happen. This was agreed to at time of purchase. Two tires had leaks and on more then one of our visit’s supposed to be replaced. Finally culminating in “we don’t have any in that size here, but we can get you tires at our cost from Town Fair” (yes, they put the cost on us). This issue alone cost me over $ 300.00 for tires and an alignment. Currently, the car is getting the Transmission rebuilt. To the tune of almost $ 2.000.00. Purchasing a used vehicle is one thing, but hiding behind an “as is” while claiming to do inspections and agree to work that hasn’t been done is not acceptable. It is very apparent they buy auction vehicles and put them directly on their lot doing absolutely nothing. Including repairs agreed to . We are now into this car for over $ 5,000.00. The only responses we got were, well if you bring it in, we can probably tell you whats wrong with it. SCAM ARTISTS, GO ELSEWHERE.
