I went to try and shop at this shop yesterday for the third time and for the third time, someone told me that what I was looking for was too expensive and I wasnt allowed to even look at it! There were 7 people in the shop with two employees. All of which looked well over fifty years old except for myself. They were all being helped with all of their concerns and questions with kindness and patience. I on the otherhand was not as fortunate. There was a beautiful cashmere sweater on display and I asked to see the yarn. The first time I asked, the owner herself said that it was cashmere and too expensive, I said that was not what I asked and politely asked to see it again. This time she said it was $50.00 a skein. A third time I repeated my statement and her reply was that the total cost of that sweater was $300.00 and too expensive for me to look at it. Really? I walked in to purchase a sweaters worth of yarn and I still have no idea what it was! I am disgusted that a business owner would be so predjudice against a 26 year old. And mind you, I dress conservatively, Im married, and have a child. Its not like a threatening, young customer was asking to see the yarn to steal it. I wouldnt touch that store if it was the last yarn store open!!

Today, I visited this store with my mother, who is an novice knitter and she is visiting from out of town. Each of the sales associates were very friendly and helpful. There was no pressure coming from anyone to buy, but we were asked if we needed any help finding anything. My mom was invited, by the owner, to return to the store with her project for any kind of assistance that she might need. The selection of yarn was out of this world and while you can go to the craft section of Wal-mart to get basic yarn at very inexpensive prices, this yarn is from every corner of the world and so the prices are going to be higher than Wal-mart. My mother has shopped at a variety of stores like this in the Chicago area as well as the West Palm Beach Florida area and her opinion was that the prices were very reasonable. The atmosphere is very welcoming and comfortable. Some other reviewers may have had a bad experience with one particular sales associate, but that was completely the opposite of my experience today. My moms in town for three weeks and she plans to head over there a few more times.

While this shop does not carry every yarn - they come darned close! This is the ONLY store in the US (I travel alot & always stop to visit yarn shops), where you can find nearly every color of the yarn you are looking at. It is a great place to buy yarn for a multicolored afghan, sweater, hat, whatever. Plus, when I find a pattern that calls for an outrageously expensive yarn, I can always find an acceptable substute at Showers of Flowers. It is SOooo helpful to be able to compare the specified yarn with another yarn when you want to make a substitution. To the reviewer who did not like having a staffer follow you when you brought your kids to the store, I understand why you would be offended, but having run a yarn shop for a friend when she had surgery, I can tell you that kids can make a real mess out of a neat yarn shop! I'm certain your kids are well behaved, but I once had to throw out $2,500 worth of yarn that had bubble gum and some mystery gooey stuff smeared all over it. In summary: This may be the best yarn shop in the US...visit and see for youself.

Came in today to see what the store is like since new ownership has taken over. I swore I would never be back, but learning that there is new ownership made me want to give it a try again. The people who work here are awesome and super friendly (a huge improvement over the last owners). A lot of the staple yarn from the previous owner still remains like the Darkhorse acrylic (a lot of it is on clearance and is being cleared out). It will be interesting to see where this store ends out in a few years time after there has been a chance to update the merchandise (maybe add some indie dyers like Invictus, Dream In Color, Fresh from the Cauldron, etc.). Hope they stick around and maybe start offering some classes, knitting help hours or knit nights. Weve lost so many good stores on the west side of town in the last couple of years that itd be nice to have one stay and carry some of the good yarn we once were able to buy close to home. Very happy to see this place still remains open and under super friendly management.

This store has improved dramatically in the last 18 months with new family running it. It has a huge variety of nice yarns and the best button supply around. I actually buy my buttons for sewing here as well as yarn. Prices on yarn are the same as other knit shops.

I like that this store is large and has many selections to choose from. I dont like that the roving samples they have are extremely over priced. I didnt like being followed in the store when I had my children with me.

Love, love this place! By far the best yarn shop in town. The selection is incredible...you have to see it to believe it. Fun knit-ins (knit and crochet) on several days each week. Very friendly and very helpful.

Very controlling over employees personal lives, openly discriminates, horrible horrible place! I would rather spend my money at a place that treats everyone the same and doesnt favor one group over another.
