first off, I had read the reviews before going in for an appt. Mariels was my first place to go after I got engaged and I had no idea what I was looking for. I must say, I have no idea why everyone is getting in a tizzy about their policies - they state them to you when you call, you must be able to understand that if 10 girls are trying on a dress you will ULTIMATELY purchase, why you wouldnt want it preserved and cared for since it is off the rack. That said, I had a delightful experience and only wish I had ended up going with them to get my dress. I wish I could recall the associate who helped me back in April but she was excited for me, brought out several great dresses and designers that fit my body well, pulled earrings and veils in order to finish off the look and was more helpful than any other bridal shop I visited. Instead, I purchased my dress from Beas and havent been very happy with the overall experience. Thank you, Mariels. Great customer service, thank you for sharing in my happiness and for the time taken to work with me even though I didnt know what I was looking for. And, a note to the other brides complaining here, the last thing you should do here is take an entourage. Go alone on your first appointment, if you really like something, make another appt and go back, but their policy is strictly enforced to protect the one who will ultimately buy the dress(es) you try on.

I just bought my dress here and honestly thought they had the most unique and beautiful dresses in all of denver. I am doing a mexico beach wedding and they had sooo many wonderful dresses to choose from. JoAnn (mom of owner) helped me and was amazing! I am a size 8 and they had a lot of dresses I loved! They were all unique compared to anything I had seen at the 5 other shops I went to. If you are doing a beach wedding or a second wedding or want something unique...you need to go here! They are cheap as well. My dress was $437 and one that I loved that was blinged out and feathers on bottom half was only 700! I wanted a sexy sleek low back with bling and it was perfect. You take home the dress you try on so they do make you put on a netted bag (see through) over your head and they put it on you, which wasnt a big deal and to be expected considering you are buying THAT dress! I would definitely try this place out after you have gone to a few shops and know what you like. They do have some big and poofy dresses as well with bling and different than other shops in denver! If you want something different and want to wow people, check them out!

As posted on the website we made an appointment to look at evening dresses. We arrived 10 minutes early and were told they were just finishing with a bride and would take us as soon as she finished. Cool. We understood. 40 minutes after our appointment time, we were "let into" the gated bridal and evening gown area. That was fine, we understand a bride cannot be rushed. After trying on 5 dresses we were told that the bride had called and wanted to come back and therefore our time was up. When we asked if we could try on our favorite dress again the sales clerk had to ask if it was OK. We were looking at evening dresses in the $200.00 - $500.00 range. Needless to say, we did not feel as though our business was important. We left with no intention of ever returning. Our suggestion is to stay away if you are simply looking for an evening dress.

AMAZING! I just got married in Mexico on 11/23/10 and bought my dress this past summer at Mariel. I went to a BUNCH of bridal shops before going to Mariel and only found a few things that I even liked a little bit. I seriously found 5 or 6 PERFECT dresses at Mariel. It was hard to choose! The owner and the employee working that day (Jenny?) were incredibly helpful and attentive. And you cant beat the selection and the prices. If you are a bride looking for an awesome dress at a reasonable price, CHECK OUT MARIEL! Plus you get to take your dress home with you, as opposed to ordering one in your size, which I really liked. And I got so many compliments on my dress! Even my father-in-law was interested in where I got it and how I picked it. He thought it was so awesome!

My wife was looking for a nice dress for a gala. We were told that the dresses were "behind the gate" and we didnt have an appointment so we couldnt go there. When I described the dress we were interested in, based upon a friends suggestion, the clerk deigned to show us the dress, "but you cant touch the dress", which meant my wife had to disrobe and put a bag over her head before having the clerk put the dress on her. I understand the reason for this procedure but we felt completely devalued by her attitude. All in all, this was the most demeaning experience of my consumer life, and certainly the worst of my wifes. With a welcoming and warm tone, she could have made a sale and created a lifelong customer. Stunning lack of customer empathy!

This was the first place I walked into to look for my wedding dress and was so excited to get started, but the experience was quickly ruined by the very rude and condescending sales girl. My sister purchased her gown at Mariel for her wedding and had a good experience, but I would find it hard to spend one penny here. When my mother and I said we were there to look at wedding dresses she snapped "I cannot open the cases without an appointment." Which was fine and I understand, but she never offered to help make an appointment or explain the process, furthermore she said "our gowns range in price from $500-$900" and said it in a way like she thought we couldnt afford it.

I love shopping at Mariel. I have been going there for years and think the clothes are unique and fun, and the service is top notch. Denise (the owner) and her team make sure the clothes are the right style, fit and color for me - they arent afraid to tell me if something just doesnt look right. Last year I needed a new ball gown, and the individual attention I received in the special section with gowns and wedding dresses was amazing. Denise worked with me one on one the entire time I was there, making sure that I didnt ruin my make up or hair while taking dresses on and off! I received numerous compliments on the gown I purchased. And, it wasnt that expensive!

I have had thee best shopping experiences of my life here! This store is truly a gem, its so nice to have such personalized attention, I had three ladies helping me find my look the last time I went. They helped me pick out the perfect things I never would have chose myself. I truly felt like I had a personal shopper! I love that they get really unique items, have new inventory everyday! I got a gorgeous wedding gown here and feel like I never want to shop anywhere else because they have everything that I want and love. Creative and classy. This store and their customer service is amazing and refreshing in a land of overdone commercialism and consumerism.
