The only reason I am giving this store two points is because they do have a decent selection of arts and crafts supplies, and on a good day the right cashier will make sure that you get to use a coupon on your purchase if possible. However, there are several things that bother me to a point where I am considering driving a lot further just to be able to avoid going here: -Even when you are the ONLY customer "in line", they make you take a number. If you forget or think it might not be necessary because THERES NOBODY ELSE THERE, they will argue with you about this until more customers arrive to be able to justify insisting on you taking a number. This may add an extra 5 minutes to your in-store time. -Their scanner never works, so every time I need fabric, they spend three times as long trying to figure out and reboot their scanner and eventually writing everything on a piece of paper after all as they spend on actually cutting my fabric. This may add another 5-15 minutes to your in-store time. -Three times out of four I have been in there, they were selling their fabric remnants at full price. I have never seen that anywhere else. The last remaining half-yard left from the bolt, cut so badly that its almost a triangle - still selling it at the original price. -I dont need the cashiers snarky comments when I have already spent three times more time in that store than I intended to because of poor customer service. "Whoah, well, thats a little flashy, isnt it?" and other comments along these lines are completely inappropriate and unnecessary. A simple "Hello" would have done. Commenting derogatorily on every item I am buying adds even more extra time that I dont want to spend in that store. Blaming me for the numbers being wrong on the receipt that the lady wrote who cut my fabric does not make it any better. Overall, I am really not impressed with this store and especially its employees.

I went in to see if they knew who worked on sewing machines. I couldnt find anyone except at the cutting table. I waited and waited and then was told I had to take a number. There were only two of us standing at the cutting table and there was two of them, hence why do we have to take a number. She even pulled the number out and actually threw the paper with number on it at the customer on the table. I thought how rude are these people. So since I couldnt find anyone to talk to about starting a project of quilting I went over to the books and tried to find one. But I only saw one and it was all about how to do the quilt like the pictures in the book. I want something different and really just wanted to know what needle do I need and what I should use for the back and the inside of the quilt. But alas, nobody even cared to enough to say how can I help you. I had one employee look me in the face and when I went to ask her if she could help me, she looked down to the ground, like dont bother me. So I didnt. After all this, nobody still had asked me what I needed. They were just rude b y turning their back to me and doing something else. I know they lost my business and I know I will not be going back to that store. I hope the owner or owners of Jo-Ann Fabrics get some people in there that are more friendly and enjoy what they do. I will not be go ing back there. So if I walked out how many others have done the same thing. They are losing money, I wont be going back.

There are issues of the same nature in other stores as well (Michaels and Hobby Lobby) regarding the problems at this particular Jo-Ann Fabrics. If you dont like this store, they have a beautiful super store at Southlands on Gartrail and E470. Big, bright, sales clerks helpful, cutting in a much larger area and most of the time cut with a smile. I generally go to this one on Exposition because it is close to my house, but I never go if I want to just run in and run out due to the waiting times. I think the problem at this location is being under staffed and their jobs entail a lot more than just cutting fabric and being cashiers. I am thankful to have a store so close to me; my family and friends in other states do not have the privilege of being able shop at a Jo-Anns, but have to rely on Walmart (Yikes!). I need their products if I am to sew, crochet, knit or make cards and the above mentioned problems are just the beast of the thing. I can either do it cheerfully or just stay home.

We bought fabric to make a princess dress for my 4 year old. The 1st time I washed it almost ALL the glitter came off. We took it back immediately only to be told we didnt wash it right. Pretty sure I know how to wash hand washables being that I am a woman and have 3 kids!! Had to go back 2 more times before we could get compensation. Then it was ONLY store credit - despite showing them the dress and only wanting 20.00 back when I had spent 100.00!! No one apologized for the poor fabric and no one tried to help make it right! You think they would have at least said something to my 4 year old who is sad over her dress being destroyed! Even when we expressed that we were now stuck trying to fix the dress (not very princess like with no glitter) and walked around the store for 20 minutes looking at other ways to decorate it. Not one person offered to help. The manager acted like he didnt care and couldnt get rid of us soon enough. I will never return here again.

Some people are friendly once you can get their attention. I think they try on purpose to avoid customers. One older woman at the register actually stared me down for several seconds when I asked a question about a bobbin then said, and I quote..."How am I supposed to know what kind of sewing machine you have"? This was at the Aurora location, they are much friendlier at the Colorado Blvd. location. Another thing I find maddening is their sales, not all things are marked, if you dont go in with the weekly flyer in hand, they do not honor sale prices, I think that is shady.

We cant remember the name of the person who helped us. She is an older woman and her husband likes to fly fish and she has kids and grandkids. Oh yeah she is short. She is fabulous. She guided my daughter and I through the store and totally helped us NOT PICK the wrong fabric. She guided us in the correct information for making blankets for my daughter and her 1st baby. My daughter does not live here and I dont sew a lot anymore, when I do however this is the store I will be coming back to.

It has a pretty good selection and it is really well organized. Everything is pretty easy to find. It is fairly slow however. I have been in there both during busy and slow season and it is pretty hard to get someone to cut your stuff. I understand it takes a second, I dont blame the ladies that work there. But every Joann I have been to has this problem, either they need to hire more workers, or they need to come up with a better system.
