Came here to kill a few minutes while waiting for my pizza at Pappa Murphys. First off, they were closing an hour early (5pm) as it was Black Friday, which I understood. They asked if I would be quick and I said yes and I had cash, which was good as their register was closed. I was looking for a couple books for my 4 yr. old son and they had some books on the counter. I was shocked at the prices! Like 50% of retail for used, beat up books. They asked why I was shocked and I said I buy books at garage sales usually for like 10 and 25 cents, so hence my sticker shock. The staff person who could of been the owner (middle aged German lady) went into a whole spiel of how much it takes to keep a store front running. So yeah, I get it, but I dont need to hear your spiel. I did wind up buying two books as I felt bad for them being so slow on Black Friday. And like I said, I actually had cash! One of them was an old fantasy paperback that cost $4 as it was $7.99 retail back in like 1993! Another was a hardback that was in the discount bin for $3. Sadly, even though they are like 3 miles from home and I like to support local (liquor store there is great and so is Pappa Murphys oh and I love Sonic plus I get gas at that sation all the time), I would not ever go back with that attitude and those prices! Id rather buy at Amazon, save money and be spared the attitude!

Easily the best used book store in the area. If youre a serious reader, you will appreciate the layout, which makes for comfortable browsing and reading. They do not play music and never bother you, but if you need help finding a book, they do actually keep track of inventory, unlike many used book stores, and are always helpful. Given the suburban area its located in, dont expect to find anything super rare or obscure; come in with an open mind and youre bound to find something that suits your tastes. Corina, the owner, has a nice crisp attitude, obviously a no nonsense kind of lady, so if youre straight with her and dont act like a turd, shell return the favor. Also, dont listen to the guy who was complaining about not finding books for a dime a piece. If you want to shop a garage sale, cool, what youre paying for here is the comfortable environment, the organization and the convenience. If they were charging a dime a book, they would have gone under long ago, and I would be sad, instead of writing this glowing review of my favorite used book store, The Book A Near.

This is by far the worst used book store experience I have ever had. The owner and the staff are beyond the rudest people I have ever come across. They are unwilling to work with you and make the transaction work for both parties. In every way I can state - I will never again return to this store. Unbelievably arrogant, unhelpful and just plain nasty to deal with. I have been to dozens of used book stores over the years and can honestly say that this one has the strangest policies and procedures of any of them. I could not begin to deal with them. Too bad because I wanted to support a local business, am a voracious reader and would have made a valuable customer. This business did not take the time to recognize any of that - their loss... My recommendation is to simply stay away. Give your business to someone that will appreciate it.

I have been going to this bookstore for about the past 6 months. I run a reading tutoring business for young children and the owners have always been extremely helpful when I have asked for a particular book. They have a great selection and every time I go in, I usually leave with at least ten childrens books in great condition...and half the price of new!!!. The owners are German and perhaps their personalities are a little more serious than you might expect, but every time I go in they laugh and joke with me. Ive not experienced the rudeness mentioned in some of these reviews.

This is by far the best used book store Ive ever been to. The owner and staff are amazingly helpful. Hard to imagine the very few negative comments on here went to the same place Ive been going for years. No, their prices are not as low as Goodwill and Salvation Army...but thats because their books are not donated...they have to pay for them!! Id rather go to someplace thats extremely well organized than have to dig through hundreds to find something I want. Cant say it enough...I LOVE THIS PLACE!!!

I have bought several books here at a good price and one day an employee told me I should bring back the books I have bought for store credit. As all the books were for my daughter, I had here bring the books the next time she needed a book for school. The employee was very rude to my daughter and said the store would not take them saying they dont sell those kind of books (even though we had bought the books from the store). My daughter was so shaken up that she refuses to return to the store.

Absolutely wonderful buy/sell/trade book store. The selection of books to buy from is simply outstanding! If the store cant buy back any of the books, they donate them to military, senior livings, womens correctional facilities, and libraries. Dont dump your books at Goodwill or ARC, take them here instead as they will go to a good cause. The owners are passionate about what they do have no hesitation on giving back to the community. LOVE THIS PLACE!!

I have been a satisfied customer of the Book A Near since it opened and I have received excellent customer service for years. I have had wish list requests fulfilled again and again at great prices. I have gotten collections in great condition which I have purchased and then had signed by the authors, which has saved me a lot of money. Great Store, go there all the time, fantastic variety and really nice staff members.

We give their gift certificates for birthday and holiday gifts. Want a book they dont have??? The staff will place your request in their computer and give you a call when they get one in!!! A favorite stop for my grand kids. Try them .....you will enjoy the shop!!!

I have been a loyal customer for many years, having left a book store that I was not happy with. The selection, service and prices have had me returning as an extremely satisfied customer. The people there have went out of their way to find books for me. The expertise they have as well as the courteous manner in which I am treated makes my experiences there a pleasant trip...Every time!!

This is a wonderful used book store. It has a great selection of books and best of all it has a really nice children book section. The owners are great and very friendly. I also bring my grandchildren here so they will love books like I do!
