Fradulent charges on my credit card! I was offered, by the employee at checkout, "free trial subscriptions" for magazines. Being a fan of the concept of the store, which among other things is all about nostalgia, and I figured what the hell, and signed up for Entertainment Weekly (Im a big movie fan), and Wired Magazine. Not only are these not free, but Im also receiving Sports Illustrated, which I absolutely did not sign up for. Im guessing the employee filled out a third one to meet some sort of quota. Who knows. All I know is that I was never told that the credit card I was using to purchase some used items from the store would be used to eventually pay for a full subscription for these magazines once the trial period was over . Ive had free trials for magazines many times in my life, and they typically send you a notice offering you a discounted rate for a full subscription, after a few months free. Thats what I assumed I was signing up for, which is what they were counting on. As far as I know, I never authorized these transactions, and if I did, it was done in a very dishonest and borderline criminal manor. Or, I didnt authorize this at all and it is in fact criminal. I will let my credit card company and the authorities determine that. Making some phone calls first thing tomorrow. Will never visit this store again and will be warning everyone I know to stay away. Very disappointing.

I used to love this place due to its high based fan service items and unique book findings, and while I cant take that away from them--way too overpriced! My last two experiences from them were horrible. I went to trade in something worth a trade-in value of $150. They offered me $100 in cash and $130 in-store credit. What a joke. Not to mention when I was trying to trade in this $150 device, the employee logged onto it and didnt sign out of it. By the time I came home and realized this, I and had to call them back for his password; extremely unprofessional. Point blank, their offers for any type of trade in is terribly low. Also, not to mention the employees at the trade-in center were beyond rude the entire time. I wouldnt recommend this place. There are small local stores which sell better quality items worth the price, and that dont try to rip you off.

I had a disappointing and very bad experience today. I brought in three boxes of mostly near-perfect hardbound and paperback books. I waited approximately 45 minutes for the books to be evaluated, and then I was told that only 5 of my books qualified to be taken by the store. The problem I have is that I was told specifically that the reason most of the books were not wanted was their condition. I dont know how previously read, well cared for books could have been in better condition. A few of them were understandably not up to par. If I had been told that the store had several copies of the same books already, I would have been satisfied with that reason. But being told that these books were not in good condition was simply not satisfactory. I will donate the books to my favorite thrift stores and take my business to those stores as well.

Great place. Staff is mostly friendly and attentive. Much of what is in the store consists of cheap, Chinese imports. However, there is a large selection of quality goods, mostly in the way of trade-ins. I can say that prices are well researched. Often, the store places the prices at or sometimes, slightly below ebay prices. This is a great thing as a consumer! On top of that, I have dealt directly with 2nd and Charles to sell my publications. I was able to work directly with the managers and had the store buy my books outright, to display them in a, "local authors" section. While Im grateful that 2nd and Charles seems to run a reasonable business, I cannot imagine them continuing to do this or staying in business for long with their kind of overhead.

I love coming here! I will drive out of my way to come here and just spend hours browsing. They have multiple comfy sitting areas to read and they have something for just about everyone here including: a musicians area, records, expansive movie section (including some titles for $1), comic books, graphic novels, new age, fiction, non-fiction, kids, inspirational, how to sections, video games, knick nacks, foreign or unique candies/snacks, and more! the staff is very friendly and they do trade ins and have a free section. Their prices are dependent on how many copies they have of a title so if you see a title you like look around at multiple copies of the same title and you may be able to find that title for a lower price!

This place is AWESOME! The best used book selection (by far!), a fan-boy or -girls dream come true, and they sell records, DVDs, and T-shirts, too! If you are looking for required reading books, shop here. Are you a fan of "Game of Thrones" or "Harry Potter"? Love "My Little Ponies," "Alice in Wonderland," "The Walking Dead"? Shop here for all of those in book form, movie-form, or as a toy. Do you just love used book stores or book stores in general? Shop here! They sell so much its easy to spend an hour there and still not see it all! Everything is reasonably priced and a thrill to find. I would recommend this shop for all your book-loving needs. They truly are incredible!

I Loooved this place. Oh my god, this us a nerds wetdream, i felt like i was in downtowns comic shop by the variety presented here. Ok so basically my experience was talking to this slightly short man of comics and he was knowledgable about all sorts of things like Agent Venom and actually showed a version of World War Breaker Hulk which I purchased. But i had a question about lowrider comics as I am big fan of cars with hydraulics. I understand they did not have any however that did not ruin the experience as I am not that type of dude to be pissed about everything. Overrall, i plan to come back here as it was a pleasure. Kudos to the hip hop as i am in love with hip hop everything.

So basically Ive been going for a year to 2nd and charles. And now I officially hate it. The items in there are often over priced and in cheap condition. But I can understand that about a 2nd hand store. But the problem I have with the place is selling items. It often takes 30 minutes to sell even a few items. They then screw you on what your selling them. Today I did an experiment. I brought in two comics that I already new the price of. The selling price would have been close to 200. I knew that the price I would get would be at minimum 50% of what they make off of it. Instead they offered me five dollars and said that was the going rate. I will never return to this place.

Extremely low ball offers on retro video games. 50% of lowest eBay value for cash and 100% of lowest eBay value for in store credit. Them they turn around and mark up there retro video to 5 or 10 higher then the highest eBay sale. Goto Docs video games if you are looking to sale they give you a much better bang for your buck. I took the same stuff I had "appraised " at 2nd and Charles and got exactly double from Docs cash value. They do have a great selection and nice atmosphere for a 2nd hand shop but steer clear of their buying area. Hopefully they will adjust their buying prices to a better rate so that everyone wins and not just the store.
