Peter Lassen was able to generate some publicity when he donated personal money to Prop 8 and listed the store as his employer (since he is self-employed) as is required on all donations over $100. It wasnt business money, it was his own personal money. But still, its too bad that so many will miss out on such a great shopping experience. Funny too: for every person thats promised to stop shopping, thereve been 3-4 promise to start shopping there because of this. I guess no publicity is bad publicity. Especially a store that attracts a liberal or controversy-loving crowd. As for the stores, theyre nice. Especially the Ventura store. That place is sweet. If theres a reason Peter Lassen had enough to donate to the Proposition, its because the store is so nice and successful he felt he could spare it. Thats his personal affair. Anyone who stops going, supports The Man (ie Whole Foods) and their march over the little guys, especially little guys with really nice stores that would give the Man (Whole Foods) a run for the money.

Best selection of health food in town! The supplement department is also very good. Staff are friendly and knowledgeable. The prices on a lot of their things are higher than other places, but almost everything in the store is organic, which costs more anywhere (try the organic section at Vons, its way worse). They also have a lot of bulk dry items (flour, rice, beans, etc.), which are quite inexpensive. If you cook from scratch you dont spend a lot of money, but if you buy a lot of premade food, that can get pricey. Their prices arent really higher than the same products at other stores though. I do have a problem with Prop 8, but at least they dont have a contract with Monsanto like Whole Foods does.

This store has everything, fresh produce, a deli, bulk foods, vitamins and a several other products. The Deli is nice enough you could meet a friend for lunch and sit down together. Ive been shopping at Health Food stores for over 14 years and have found the staff at Larsen’s to be the most helpful; each employee Ive talked to at Lassen’s has knowledge about the products they sell, particularly the vitamins. Having someone to consult with is important to me. Ive had special nutritional needs in my family and have found everything Ive needed here. It’s been a relief to me to have the support from Lassen’s when I have needed it the most. Thank You Lassen’s.

I love Lassens and it would be a five star review but....it is pricey. If I could afford it though, I would buy everything here. They have a great deli, too (yes, also pricey) but the food is the best around (much better than Whole Foods deli which has many dishes which are strangely tasteless although some I like). Lassens also has cooked wild salmon which isnt easy to find...Oh - the politics thing - I hate. I hate the owner gave money to Prop 8 but I dont think thats related to his business. I certainly hate Whole Foods politics, too, and yet I go there. It is frustrating...

Ive always found their staff to be nice and upbeat. Yes, there are a few slightly strange people, but thats often been my experience at a health food store. Their prices are fair for the quality of goods. They have a good selection, and a nice bulk section. The prepared foods are delicious and you can often find meat, dairy, and other raw items marked down or on sale. They have the best price for gallon-sized Nutiva coconut oil Ive ever seen. I prefer the Ventura Lassens to any of the other smaller stores.

Horrible staff. I placed an order online and it took over a month for them to figure out that they never filled my order. When I was finally called they said oh sorry we arent really good at online orders you really should just come in. Then why offer it! I still need the product so I go in. The store is slow and I cant get any help. A manger had to call a staff memeber over and even then I couldnt get service. Never going there again. And they were out of third of thier products!

Lassens is a great place to find healthy groceries and great supplements! Their organic deli foods are usually very tasy. The employees are friendly and helpful. The supplements team are very knowledgeable and can assist you in finding what you need. I feel so much better knowing that the ingredients in my food and supplements are pure and simple. My health has shown improvement since I started choosing their deli and cold press juices over fast food as often as possible.

I love Lassens, BUT they are EXTREMELY overpriced. $5 for a breakfast burrito that is 90% potato and only 2 pieces of spinach.. Nope, not cool. The staff is friendly, but in the end, Lassens is just another monopoly in it for the money. Edit: I repeat. Lassens is WAY OVERPRICED. $5.99 for a small (often bad!) smoothie that is often made incorrectly because of how (surprisingly) busy they are. $5 for a VERY SMALL hanful of gummy bears. Etc etc.

Ive unfortunately been a fairly regular shopper at Lassens throughout the years since they offer more than Trader Joes and is more convenient than Whole Foods in TO or Lazy Acres in SB. I am eager for the day that Whole Foods opens in Oxnard so that I wont have to step foot into a Lassens ever again. Over priced items and consistently rude stoner staff. I could go on and on, but I wont. Lassens is beyond overrated.

The weird/rude staff and limited selection are reason enough not to go to Lassens. The fact that shopping there means Im supporting bigotry and hate disguised as "protection" of marriage by misguided or brainwashed religious zealots makes it a moral imperative to find other places to shop. Its just a matter of time before Prop 8 is overturned, despite Mr. Lassens hatred.

All organic! You dont have to question it. Local raw honey! The deli here is a little smaller than some of their other locations, but theres still really great, healthy, and delicious options. Im a big fan of their supplements! Always have been. They are one of the original hebal supplement stores, but they have a full grocery store as well. Lassens is Wonderful!

I have been shopping at Lassens for years & always get the Turkey Meatloaf!! This time is was a disaster!! Major food poison!! when I called the Manager he barley said sorry. Then smartly asked if there was anything else I needed?? Like he was done with me!! Im let down & will not be eating there again & think the manager hates his job.....BEWARE!!!!

Sarah Gomes is horrendous. I dont understand how you can allow such a person to remain on your staff. In my opinon, I would have fired her as soon as she displayed such ruthless behavior in a work place. Shes been defined by many, including myself, as having disgraceful motives. Shes completely irresponsible, deceitful, and extremely inconsiderate.

I specifically go here for Field Roast products when in Ventura. They carry the whole line which is great since only the sausages are showing up in larger chain stores. The store has a good variety of products for the size of the store and their deli counter is quite good.
