My husband and I obtained our permits and purchased our first firearm here a couple of years ago. Sorry to say, but I firmly believe the rascism accusations are accurate. I am white, my husband is Puerto Rican. The very first time we visited the place we were ignored for quite sometime at the gun counter before anyone gave us a second glance and proceded to help all of the white people even those that came in after us! When they finally did acknowledge us, they werent very helpful when it came to answering our questions. The guy acted like we were bothering him and the other sales people were equally as unfriendly towards us where as moments before they had been engaged in friendly conversation with all of the other "white" customers. VERY obvious as to what was going on. When we returned again to apply for our permits, take the test, and purchase a gun, they were much friendlier when we were lining their pockets with cash. However, they kept giving us excuses as to why they couldnt special order us anything. (Went to Stockton Gun Exchange and it turns out ordering firearms is pretty easy.) Then, just today in fact, I called and told them I was interested in selling them one of our guns. I proceeded to tell him the make and model to which he IMMEDIATLEY replied that that was not on the California approved firearms list and as such he could only sell it on consignment. I told him that was odd since I purchased the gun in California to which he replied that I probably got it years ago before they updated the list. Id had enough at this point and politely thanked him to which he did the same. The fact of the matter is, I had purchased the gun barely two years prior. I proceeded to double check the list online and big surprise! Its still on the approved list! Do you people take me for some kind of moron??? If its not on the approval list you couldnt sell it at all, consignment or not. I guess because I lack a penis, I must also lack any sort of common sense what so ever! (Sold the gun to the Gun Exchange a few hours later.) Whether it was to get me off the phone or so he could make more money, I dont know and dont care. He outright lied, and this second offense has lost them a customer(s) for life. Stockton Gun Exchange will get all of my business from now on as they know how to treat customers. I will be sure to spread the word to family and friends about this god awful place.

Let me start off by saying Im an Asian male in my mid 20s. This is concerning the firearms department. At first I thought I was discriminated on because I am younger, but now Im realizing that the clerks were younger than I and after reading these reviews, I realize Im not the only one. It is due to race for sure. I challenge any Asian to go in there and witness them service the white people who came after you. I have never been so openly discriminated on in my life. It shocked me. My wife and 1 year old were waiting in the car for me on a hot day with the windows down. I was expecting to go in for 5 minutes just to ask about layaway on the firearms. Boy was I wrong. I waited behind the counter next to the person they were helping, just looking at them to try and get their attention. They took their sweet time with the white man. Then another white man comes in 15 minutes after me and right away they ask if he needed help. This happened 2 more times. Meanwhile Im just standing behind the counter, doing nothing. This happened to me the 3 times I went. I didnt realize it was because of race until now. It didnt just happen to me alone. These people are openly racist. Another thing to note is that even the main register (right when you walk in) seems shady. They greeted all the white people who came in but not me. Not sure about that though, but I am positively sure the firearms department is in fact racist. It really upsets me as I really want to do business with them since they have the broadest selection of firearms Ive seen in Stockton. I am a security guard so I need to purchase firearms. Its too bad. I am boycotting this place. Its also a shame that theres really nothing we can do about this since they are family operated. Im guessing they have the right to refuse service to anyone. I ask anyone of color to boycott this place, for the sake of the constitution. Unless youre going to go in and see for yourself.

It isnt about race, it is just about lack of responsible customer service since Eric Sr let others run it. Ive have been buying guns here since I was 18; now 46; I am an AVID collector. Eric sold me my first .22 and shotgun as a "little" kid at 18. Ive purchased a number of guns through the years but moved away when I got married. Recently, working in the area again brought me back. The last three times I saw some of the old guys and some new kids. I left feeling like they really dont care about the business anymore. No "hello", no "can I let you handle anything", no "do you have a question"; even though Im two feet from the glass looking for info on each gun in the case or on the rack from the tags. Its like a great restaurant that gets taken over when the parents retire and the kids are in charge. First time back, I was surprised that all handguns have a tie lock around the barrel so you cant drive fire or rack the slide; you can only feel the grip and look down the sights. So two times ago I saw a four inch S&W 44 mag which I havent seen anywhere in the area however again I didnt get anyone to help me.. (Btw I live in Elk Grove with a range and two of the best gun shops anywhere) Wanting this 629, I rounded up the money and came back in with cash in hand at 4:45. No one at the counter; I waited 15 minutes staring at the young kid playing with an over/under swinging it around like he was practicing for clays. Still nothing. Two others walked by and said nothing. Even a worker who I have bought a gun from didnt say a word acting like they were already closed. So sad that I cant get help from my "old gun store" Head up to Elk Grove and youll experience some excellent customer service at Shootn Shack or MTG. Edited - my friend went in and is buying here but after six purchases he still gets bad service. So strange.

Before i came to the store i read some reviews and seen this store had bad customer service. So i took a chane anyways thinking it was just nonsense that a place of business could be so bad. As i walked into the gun department i stood there looking for help from the youngster behind the counter and he didnt even bother to say hi, he didnt even look at me. Another fella walk in 10 min after i did and a older guy behind the counter walked pass me to help him. I looked at the guy and noticed he was white. Another guy walked in looking to buy a gun and the youngster ask him what he could do to help. And he to was white. After the kid was done helping the customer he asked me if i needed something. I told him i wanted to buy the m&p 40 witch i did. I asked him to tell me something about the gun due to not ever owning or even shooting one. He words "what you wanna know". I told him before we even started i had no knoledge of guns. I said your the sales man, you gotta convince me to buy the gun tell me something bout it. You go to a car dealer and he will tell you everything bout the car with out you even asking. I bought the gun anyways cuase i had no time to look else were. These sales men need to up there game. Im woundering how they stay in business so long. BAD BAD CUSTOMER SERVICE!! I pick up my gun tomorrow and they will not have the pleasure of me buying any ammo.
