My experience with The Sofa Company was and continues to be HORRIBLE. I spent $2,500 on a custom designed memory foam sofa. I was given a delivery date 6 weeks out and after 6 weeks I was told that the fabric I chose was discontinued. Not only did I not have my sofa when they said I would but they hadnt even begun to make the sofa. I ended up waiting over 3 months for my sofa to be delivered. Fast forward to now - just shy of two years later. The back of my sofa is incredibly loose. So much so that when you lean back against the pillows you feel the couch shift. When you sit on any part of the chase the sofa squeaks and it is obvious the problem is with the springs. When I called The Sofa Company to inquire on options to repair it I was told that I was outside of the factory warranty (1 year) and should have purchased a 5 year extended warranty which would cover ABSOLUTELY ANYTHING that happened to the sofa. I was then told that the cost of the extended warranty would have been $150 and had to be done when I purchased the couch. The problem is that I WAS NEVER OFFERED AN EXTENDED WARRANTY! If I am spending $2,500 on a sofa I think its fair to say that anyone in their right mind would spend an additional $150 for a 5 YEAR extended warranty. To top it all off, I inquired on the process to have my sofa cleaned. I was then told that this fabric was also discontinued and that there is no way to tell me how I should have my white couch cleaned! I am incredibly disappointed with the service that I have received from this company. Its all around bad business and they arent able to rectify anything. So here am I - with a $2,500 sofa that tilts back terribly and squeaks when you sit on it AND cant be cleaned b/c no cleaning service will be responsible for cleaning it without proper instructions from the manufacturer.

The Sofa Company is great if you are looking for a specific piece to fit your space and or style. Based on my experience here is my advice. 1. Take your time choosing, you are making a big purchase so dont rush in. Visit more then once and take your time figure out what your needs and wants are. 2. If you have to add $200 to get the fabric, details or seating type you want, do spend the extra bit (if you are able to stretch your budget). As per comment above, you are already spending a large sum, so make sure that iss what you want. 3. At the same time most of us cant get it all, so be realistic and decide where you are willing to compromise. 4. There are tons of fabrics. But if you want something specific, perhaps to match something in your house, its good to know that you can bring your own. 5. Be willing to wait. The Sofa Company says it takes 3-5 weeks. As of today I have waited 3,5 weeks and still no word, so looks like to will be 5 in my case. 6. The staff is knowledgeable and helpful, so ask for their advice if you are uncertain. They will likely be able to help you make a decision. 7. Be brave, I dont know what the end result is going to be yet, but checking out the showroom will give you a good idea. Go more then once if you can, or to different showrooms that have different models on display. I also found the customer photos on the Sofa Copanys website very helpful! 8. The website does bring down my mark from a 3. Its not very helpful (Except the customer photos mentioned above). Go to the shop, ask questions and get price examples. Its good to know that certain choices, such as fabric, can affect the total price quite a lot.

Purchased a 3-piece sofa set from The Sofa Company on 9/2/12. We purchased the Gia model and we required some custom pieces due to the dimensions of our room. We spent a lot of time at the Santa Monica store looking and trying various sofas. The staff was very helpful and patient and provided good design advice. Our main design consultant was Zaire Garcia and she was very helpful in providing information and advice with the many choices available, especially the color selection. The approximate completion date was quoted as 3-5 weeks and it turned out to be 4 weeks and 4 days so that was very good. The delivery was scheduled from 6-9am and the delivery person was there at 8:25am and left at 8:45am so that was excellent. The sofa set looks great - no quality issues with the material, frame or pillows. Overall, a very positive shopping experience. We were given excellent service and I received a quality product on-time with no issues.

I went in having researched options at several other places. None of the pre-made couches really fit what I was looking for, and most of the other options for custom couches didnt really offer that many options. The Sofa Company made it easy to get the couch that I wanted. They provided options to do pretty much anything you can think of: you want an extra 12 inches, thats no problem! The process was painless: select the style, arrangement, covering, legs and youre off. The build process does take some time so be aware of the fact that it will likely take a few weeks. The end result is fantastic, and well worth the wait. The couch is exactly as ordered and it looks great. I would absolutely recommend The Sofa Company.

My wife and I have been looking for the perfect sectional couch for our new home. We knew exactly what we wanted but we have been looking for over 2 months!!!! I found The Sofa Company on google maps and Im so happy we went there!! The sales person we had was named Peter. He did an amazing job helping us build our perfect couch. The options we had to create our pefect couch was endless. The best part about it was the price. We were able to get exactly what we wanted for the price we were willing to pay. I would recommend The Sofa Company to all my friends and family!!!!!!

The worst customer experience ever. Purchased a sofa and was told to be home between 6am and 10am...it was delivered close to 11am. Tried to reach customer service during the late delivery which was impossible. When the sofa arrives it is the wrong sofa. I asked for a refund and was told "no!" Its been more than 9 months since the order and I still dont have the sofa. If I could find an easy link to the Better Business Bureau I would call them. Never buy from this store. Terrible experience, irresponsible management, late delivery...could not be any worse.

The Sofa Company is the place to find a sofa. The Santa Monica showroom is huge--and its almost all sofas, so you dont have to wade through beds and dining sets and a bunch of other stuff that wont fit in a Santa Monica apartment! Ruby and the others on staff were very very helpful, without hovering. Price is reasonable and Im expecting great quality when my sofa arrives. The only reason not five stars is that, since they make your sofa custom, it takes a while--on the 3-5 week estimate, mines taking 5 weeks.
