I read the other reviews that people wrote and all I can say is that ANY place you go there will be issues, I am the type of person that I only go to these places if I know I have time to oversee all of their work. I have been there twice and both times I have been treated very good and paid a really good price for the things i needed, I even got a free grill for my 12 inch sub. I went there today 8/28/10 for 6.5 inch rear speakes for my old commuter car, i was going to buy a pair of Kenwoods from amazon for $34 but i decided to check out Gurus first. I got a similar pair of Kenwoods for $25/$27 after tax. I had my whole day planed out so I decided to install the speakers there at their shop. I looked in my trunk and I forgot my tools at home. I asked if I could borrow a screwdriver and they let me borrow a drill and some wire cutters. The didnt nag or even ask for the tools back and I took my time installing the new set of speakers. I returned the tools, thanked them and off i went. Will go back to this place for sure. One more thing to point out is that this is the place that all or most of the local beat shops in SJ go to buy their parts and then mark it up and sell it to you. I know this for a fact because today while installing my speakers I saw the owner of a local shop I would always go to there buying stuff so before buying anything from anywhere I would go check out what they have and trust me they have a big wearhouse type store that you can get lost in all day just looking at things. Its is not fancy like some other shops that have a crazy display of stuff but this shop to me is a no bull type of place. Thanks Guru

My experience is different from those of 4-5 stars. As usual, I checked a few different garages with comments like this and made some phone calls before deciding to go for one. This one seems to be high rank and thats what I tried. Unfortunately, I dont think Guru deserved any above 2 stars. First, they charged 3 hrs, but it was actually only 2 hrs one-man work. Second, the guy who was not familiar with my vehicle thats ordinary one. He spent long time to fix the problem he created during installation audio/rearViewCamera system. With 2-3 guys help, he got it fixed, but massed up all my stuff (including my groceries I just shopped) inside of trunk without putting back. Making thing worse is that he threw away an original part thats absolutely important for protecting the vehicle. I was astonish how he could do that. Luckily I was there at that moment and I asked him to put it back. He explained " I have to take it off for extending wires....". But hello, do you suppose to put it back after wiring...? As you could image the quality of job done by this guy, it tuned out there WERE problems after leaving the garage. I went back the garage again to fix the problems, one of which was fixed, the cause? wrong wired. The other problem? Couldnt fix without buying a new part. The guy who fixed the problem seem to have a good skill, which I have to admit. By the way, there were two more returned vehicles asking fix as well at the moment when I asked them to fix the problems. The parts I bought from this garage were ~15% more expansive than Amazons.

This review is based on my experience at this stereo/audio installation shop. I call them to get a quick price quote on an amp and a sub will for set up and made an appointment with Sunny. I met with him the next day around the afternoon and he was right to the point and give me what I was looking for. Moving forward to the installation, they have two tents set up which is great for your car to be under shade and they have a great team that all ride together side-by-side. If you have any questions to ask Theyre willing to answer all and very good customer service. I didnt get their names but they are excellent and do a great job on the installation and very on point and then track. The prices are reasonable and you pay what you get for, deathly recommend this place if youre looking to get any installation for your car..

I dropped off a Lexus CD Changer which was not loading from its cartridge, for service in Jun 2010. The estimate they gave me to fix this was too high ($365) so I decided to pick it up as-is. I was in a hurry when I picked up the unit, so I did not look it over carefully. A month or two later, I noticed that the serial number of the Changer they gave me did not match the one on their invoice (printed up when I dropped off my unit). When I called them to bring this to their attention, the response was "you should have found this earlier" and "we turn too many parts each day, its long gone". Either the switch was careless or deliberate (my unit was closer to working condition than the one they returned, which is stone cold dead). Im suspecting they broke up my unit for parts. Either way, be really watchful with this shop.

I am Guru, the owner of Guru Electronics. We dont Repair or service any equipment. We only sell Name brands & Brand new car audio, video & alarms. We dont recall if this person ever visited our store, or dropped off his changer for service to us.Either he is mistaken and is reviewing a different store, or he has purposely done to malign our reputation. We are at this location for over 18 years. We sell to other retailers around the entire bay area,& are open to public so they can have the privilege of selecting from almost all the brands available @ better prices than other stores. If this person has any questions, hes free to call me or come to our store. Thanks, Guru

I found guru on craigslist and went in to buy some subwoofers. I purchesed 2 Hyphonics brute subwoofers and the speaker box. I asked if i was gonna be installing this myself and i answered yes. I installed the speakers and had a little problem. I guess the way i installled the speakers i had them wired to 2 ohms stable and i needed 8 ohms stable. So i brought the car to guru and the installer fixed my problem free of charge and i was told if i had anymore problems to bring the car in. Needless to say i will be a customer for life! i was very happy and i recommend them to Everyone.

Outstanding Service! I highly recommend Guru Electronics. They are friendly, courteous, and professional. I particularly want to commend Sonny and George. Sonny is one of the best people Ive ever dealt with. This is a great shop. They do lots of business, and they know their electronics. Plus they do the installation in plain view, so you can watch if you so choose. In summary, this is one of the best (if not the very best) retail/service/installation experiences Ive ever had. Thanks Guru!

I called Sunny yesterday was told to be there early, I was, he had exactly what he said with him and they went right out and got started. In the meantime, there was a table, chairs, cold drinks, WiFi and the Olympics on. It was done sooner than expected, I wrapped up my work to be given directions on my stereo and happily went on my way. Great place, fantastic service. Most certainly worth the 30 min drive. Thank you again Sunny!
