AMERICAN GIRL STORE: Buyer beware!!! Very Disappointing!! After a 3 hour drive, we checked in at the Bistro at 2:10 for a 2:15 reservation that was made 3 months ago. We were told (by bistro manager John) that one party was just finishing up and as soon as the counter was cleared, we would be seated. A half hour later we noticed that another party that just walked in had been seated at the counter ahead of us. When I asked the lady at the check in counter about it, she stated that John didnt relay the message that we were there and so they sat the 2 parties that had come in behind us....we would have to wait for those parties to finish and the counter to be cleaned before we could be sat down. One of the waitresses walked past to add that they were sorry, but that they couldnt just tell people they had a half hour to eat and rush them out of there. (un-neccessary comment). The girl at the counter apologized for the inconvenience and promised a "free dessert" (which was comical since I had already reserved the Birthday Celebration package which comes with dessert!!) So, we waited a bit more, let the girls shop around the store and saw ANOTHER party being seated at the tables in the bistro. Did I mention that we drove 3 hours for this store!! We were hungry and irritated to say the least that we had a reservation and were skipped 3 times!!! I stood at the entrance of the Bistro as to not be skipped over a 4th time and my husband looked up the other restaurants in the shopping mall as we had basically resolved to spend our money elsewhere (which I wish we wouldve done). I was told it would be 5 more minutes while they cleared the countertops, so we stuck around since this is the experience I promised my daughter and friends. We were finally seated at 3:25. It took the waitress a while to get to us and by that time we knew what we wanted to order. She was nice, but not especially quick to get our drinks started. After ordering, it was another half hour before we saw our appetizers. A different manager type employee actually apologized to my husband about the food delay and explained there was an issue in the kitchen. The food was not the same as was stated on the menu. The fruit kabobs ended up being 3 pieces of cantaloupe and 3 grapes in a cup. The "yogurt" ended up being chocolate mouse, and the pretzel bites were COVERED with pepper that made them super spicy for my 8 year old let alone trying to get a 3 year old to eat them. Then comes the main course. I ordered the chicken bowtie pasta which was missing the alfredo sauce and sundries tomatoes which are in the menu description. The chicken ceasar salad is basically a bagged caesar salad that you could get for $3.50 off the shelf at the super market. So disappointing!! A personal shopper (Rene...I think or maybe Rita) came over and apologized to me and stated that shed like to offer me a discount for the next time we visited the store. pfffftt! Next time??? are you joking?!? She gave my daughter a doll t-shirt and her friend a copy of the magazine as some type of compensation for the terrible experience. That was a nice gesture, but itll take more than a doll t-shirt and promise of a future discount to make it up to me. Then the bill came.... $20 per adult and $30 per child (including my 3 year old who took 5 bites of her mac and cheese!!) there was no discount included on the bill or "free dessert" as previously stated. This is very disappointing as weve been looking forward to visiting this store for quite some time. The girls still had fun, but were tired and running out of steam by the end. From the time we were seated, the dining experience took 2 hours and was definitely NOT worth it. In addition, it caused us a delay in returning the friends back home on time. I expected more from this great company and especially expected more based on the very high price of the meals. There was no store manager available to come and speak to me about our experience.

When looking at a shopping center, a lot of things can come to mind. However, Stanford Shopping Center is something different. Many people may have the view that it is upscale and outrageously priced. I have listened to many describe it as such. It does have many nice upscale stores like Chicago or NYC or even San Francisco. The difference is that this is not a ridiculously priced shopping center. It is, in fact, a shopping center with all of the fine stores that a person would expect to find in one of the great cities, but all in one place and at a much more calm, quiet and safe local. Yes, the stores are upscale with prices to match, however, this cant draw away from the overall opinion of a Shopping Center. Every single store at Stanford Shopping Center is paying for the very best. So if you are planning on having a nice lunch or buying a stereo that costs more than the average car, why not do it here and save on shipping. After all, it’s more than just upscale mixed with nice weather, well actually is that not enough right there? A natural selection to be one of Americas best outdoor Shopping Centers. I cant help but add one more thing. When looking at this review of the shopping Center itself, remember this: If there is something that detracts from this shopping center that causes it to be less than ideal, can you possibly think of a place that even comes close to compare it to?

I have so many doctors appointments at Stanford and always come here to relax and wait for my boyfriend to get off of work. He works at Stanford also! Best way to get here from Stanford is it take the short free bus tram from Stanford Main Hospital to Blake Wilbur Cancer center. From there go to the back of the Blake Wilbur building towards the childrens hospital. Cross the street at the childrens hospital to the childrens hospital clinics at 730 Welch. Cross the street from 730 Welch to Nordstroms. And finally Nordstroms to the main mall! Its about a 15-20 minute walk definitely doable! They recently renovated the small and put tons of new restaurants, a new bathroom, and also charging stations! I love the Urban outfitters selection of accessories and also the renovated Victorias Secret! They have a bunch of super expensive stores that are also just fun to browse! Its an outdoor mall so definitely bring a sweater during the cold seasons. One downside... is all the disgusting birds. Beware of the center of the mall, the seating areas, and the hallway leading to the Starbucks. So unsanitary for a "rich people" mall.

Pretentious. Some okay stores but middle aged women in Burberry and Gucci will bump into you and give you nasty looks. There arent really even that many good stores here. Theres Jamba Juice I guess. Drivers arent as bad as at town and country, but there are a lot of teenage girls driving their dads Maseratis and soccer moms driving G Wagens that dont really understand what stop signs are. The thing that makes this place not so bad is that fact that it is pretty easy to navigate and it has SO MANY entrances and exits, so when its time to leave, you dont need to wait behind the first generation CRV thats completely blocking the ONLY EXIT because there are like 10 BMWs in a row that wont give him the right of way and he doesnt know how to be assertive. 8/10 would shop again
