Great selection of books and movies, and the atmosphere is cosy and creaky (hardwood floors) in the right amounts. Customer service could improve. A year of going in regularly and spending substantial money to support my local bookseller never rated more than a tentative glance from most clerks; usually they said nothing and treated me as if I were a tourist coming for the first and probably last time. That was a big turnoff. In every other way, a great shop.

Support local! A well organized, deep collection of old/used and new publications, ranging from philosophy to paranormal romance, graphic novel to contemporary fiction, with a special counter and window for rare, limited editions. So many curious titles to dig into. Where else are you going to match Sartres Wartime Diaries with an R Kelly Trapped in the Closet DVD?

Wonderful treatment...for example, I called checking to see if they had a book in stock that my Grandfather is looking for...they went out of their way to go through several locations in their store looking for it. Compared to a couple chain stores I called where I was put on hold for 5 minutes before I could even ask them... what a huge contrast!

Love the smell of fading yellow pages on the books. It just feels right for this area. Feels dated and dated, but thats what makes this place so unique. If you can find a book they can order it for you and will take 5-7 days max. The workers know their books here with knowledge of author and titles.

After calling 25 bookstores, I finally found walden pond. They were not only nice, but had a vary hard to find book in stock. If they didnt have it they could get it for you in a few days. Im a fan!
