Ive been giving this store my patronage for the past 12 years or so (since I was a whelp :) and this is THE best bookstore for anyone with a kid. (Thats any age kid, by the way, not just below 15 or something.) The staff are VERY helpful and friendly, and every one of them is a real READER of books. They can order any book you like, but the books that are actually stocked in the store are a specifically selected range. All the very best fantasy/YA series are here — from Percy Jackson, to Twilight, to Diana Wynne Jones (the queen of YA fantasy, R.I.P.) and of course Harry Potter, Spiderwick chronicles, Lemony Snicket, Eragon, and on and on. In my opinion you cant beat this store for browsing, since the cream of the crop is what they have in the store, and the atmosphere beats B&N, Borders and similar stores hands down. I didnt mention sci-fi—theres not as much of that as fantasy, but youll find Orson Scott Card and others of the best, and of course if you think theres something they should be stocking you can always tell them. I do ALL my new book purchasing through this store. Id like to help keep them going! They provide services that Amazon or B&N simply cannot.

theres an elder lady that works there that is VERY helpful God bless her soul this bookstore is not very big and i go regularly perhaps twice every week unfortunately i ONLY find what i am looking for 30% of the time.BUT you got to LOVE the Once Upon A Time Bookstore environment and this is why i enjoy spending time looking for things that i know arent going to be there.

Visitoing "The Oldest Childrens Bookstore in the Nation" makes the drive to Montrose worth it in itself. Once Upon a Time is charming and filled with wonderful books. They recently had a Harry Potter Party for the release of HP and the Cursed Child and often host authors and wonderful storytelling events.

The owner of Once Upon A Time is truly delightful and loves childrens literature. I was very impressed at the LA Festival of Books with the number of authors she helped to pull into the event. Thoughtful and fun selection - better than any chain or dot com could be! Worthy of your business!

Its not often that I go to Montrose, but when I do, I always stop in this little bookstore. This bookstore is very community oriented. It hosts book clubs and there are LOTS of scheduled activities for children. Local authors are also featured here.

Sweet little book shop with predominantly childrens books with some puppet toys and educational learning toys for learning little ones!
