I give my Great Granddaughter a recordable storybook every year for Christmas. I get it every year at Barnes & Noble on McHenry Ave. in Modesto CA. Every year when I go in, I am told by a manager that they dont carry them. Every time I continue looking and asking until I find them (in that store). Yes, this year also. I went in on ll/15/14, & was told the same thing by the manager on duty. It so happened a young lady on duty (a new employee) over heard this encounter and called me over. She already had the recordable storybooks pulled up on the computer & lo & behold, they sure enough had one on the shelf. I recounted the incidents over the past four years. She assured me that the manager was just did her best & couldnt possibly know every book in the store. My point is, even so, the manager didnt take the extra step to find out for sure. Not only that, but assured me they had gotten the Christmas books in & there was no recordable storybooks in it . . . the simply didnt have any. The new employee was on it . . . and handled the managers inefficiency. I would really hope that young lady gets some acknowledgment she deserves! I didnt get her name, but I think she had braces & was very young.

I will not be coming to this barnes & noble any more because every time I bring my son here, he always wants a toy. OK am not a bad mother, I will buy my son a Thomas the train, But not when that thomas the train is $40.00 dollars. This is the thing I hate I cant keep buying my son different trains every time we go. They are expensive. You would think that they would have them for a decent price, but they don;t. I could buy my son several thomas the trains with the $40.00 dollars. I had already brought this to there attention but no one seems to care. So I won;t go until they fix this issue. Am sure am not the only mom that gets frustrated with this problem.

Its a little depressing, but I would say this store (along with Yesterdays Books and possibly Bonanza Books & Comics if youre looking for comics) are the only good bookstores Modesto has to offer. The selection is of course not as good as online sellers like Amazon, but you can order from B&Ns website and pick up in-store, and there is of course the advantage of being able to hold the book in your hands before you buy it.

I have been visiting this Barnes and nobles for 15 years and I love it! This is literally my second home. The only thing they could change is add in tables for reading books/studying, which they currently dont have, except the childrens area. They use the Starbucks area currently, which has uncomfortable seats.

This place has a wide variety of books for everyone! Comic Books, Magna, Horror, Trivia, and much more! The inside is always very tidy and nice, and the employees are almost always helpful. I come here as often as I can and browse their expanding selection.

Large selection of books and great staff. Every Barnes and Noble seems to have a great team, and great selection of books, and is always willing to order a book that is not in Stock. Very clean, and very calming place to shop.

Crappy that when you call their store you dont anyone answer the line. Automated system comes on and gives you store hours and location then tells you have a great day and hangs up. Very disappointing.
