Chavez Supermarket & Taqueria initiated a trend that was capitalized on by the titanic and highly successful Mi Pueblo franchise; both businesses combined the chore of grocery shopping with the experience of food preparation, hence the keywords in the title, “Supermarket” and “Taqueria”. Chavez’s supermarket portion punches a big punch into a small area, in its aisles you’ll find a baker, butcher, fresh produced, candy and other typical items imported from Mexico as a means fill the void of a distant country…or whatever. Chavez’s taqueria is an assembly line of dishes that are available at your simple request. I’ve had the pleasure of sampling many, but none is better than their birria. Birria is a stew that is typically available only on the weekends. The stew is famous for not only curing hunger but hangovers as well. The dish is very rich in flavor, and can vary in many meat options, but I recommend the traditional approach and favor goat meat. It is my opinion that Chavez’s best dish is the birria, with the added touch of lime, cilantro, onions and fresh tortillas. Give the dish a try, I think you’ll be pleasantly surprised.

I would definitely rate the customer service at a 0 if I could. Terrible. I went in to buy a 24 pack of beer and had someone hold the beer for me b/c the 24 pack was too heavy for my injured wrist. Cashier asked for both of our IDs b/c apparently no one is allowed to carry your drinks for you(even if its too heavy for you). Then security came up with a terrible attitude, when I never even fought back with the cashier, I had no problem with the situation. After security kept giving me attitude, the cashier had a happy smirk on her face(as if she felt accomplished). Security kept telling me to look up rules and to be more educated and know better. (Who is he to say I should know better, when hes a man with no degree)Yet I didnt understand why the harsh attitude when i was never mad in the first place, til he came up to my face and argued for about 5 minutes straight. I eventually left that old fart alone b/c he clearly wanted to argue and stay in my face but I didnt have time for that. However, if he really knew better hed hold a better job, just saying. Terrible service for an overpriced store !

Wow. Ive been here about 5 times now..and it just gets better each time. Yesterday, I had the pork short ribs in the red sauce with 2 taquitos-plate..and OMG. That pork, while a bit fatty, sure did have the best flavor. Had to eat part of it with the hands since it was a bit hard to poke the ribs, but still..it was serious grub with a wonderful stewed pork and red pepper flavor. It was the best thing Ive had there so far. But, you will not be disappointed with the quesadilla (grilled burrito style) or the nachos, or the tacos. All great flavors and fresh. No old meat here! The eating area is clean and comfortable and the service is always friendlt and nice. I just wish theyd lower the price on a bottle of mineral water. $2.65 is a bit steep for something they can easily sell for 99c or $1.25 at most. The food poces are very reasonable at the mini eatery..go. You wont be disappointed!

Terrible, they used to have the best al pastor super burrito. Now they portion out everything from the meat to the sauces, the meat which is the most important thing is not as flavorful as before and is almost nonexistent in the burrito I ate today. I used to come here all the time, seems like quality has diminished as popularity went up. They used to give out free chips and vegetables, now they charge for that too.

Only go there for the burritos, as everything else is a bit pricey. People at the Taqueria are very nice, but many dont speak English well, so if you have a special order, it can be a bit hard to communicate. Free parking, but the lot is usually kind of crowded. But Ive always been able to park.

The food and everything is good they just have a bad people service my boyfriend and i went to buy some bears the cashier ask us for both of us IDS just for the reason i was with him my boyfriend showed her his id but i didnt have mine at the time so we just leaft everything else we were buying

It is possible to sell fresh meat an dseafood in your store without having to smell it when u walk in the door right??? Beside the smell good place to get money orders, stamps, etc. and lunch at the same time! Prices are high for food.

Love the chain, but this one is kind of grungy. The guy didnt wash his hands before he got me My Salsa his hands were dripping in raw meat juice it appeared. I didnt buy it.

Have all your items for breakfast,lunch, and dinner...great Taquiria kinda pricey but I live locally so its a go to...plus their check cashing takes 1% beat that Wal-Mart

A little pricey but mostly good quality food especially the deli counter. If you want to go to the taqueria I recomend the Morisquetta. Its so good and authentic.
