Too much salt! Ordered seafood sampler w/clam chowder; menu touts "rice oil" as healthy frying method, so gave it a try. Chowder had a ton of salt in it; not recommended for those with high blood pressure. Seafood sampler arrived and looked great; A+ on presentation. Mixed vegs were overcooked and already heavily salted. Rice (since baked potato was unavailable) was bland; this was the only unspiced item of the evening, yet needed the most. Seafood assortment was piled high, so A+ on portion, but breading was heavily salted; a double blow, already knowing that fried foods are bad enough. At $25 for my dinner order, about $5 of the price must cover the cost of salting the order. P.S. I did take my leftovers in a box; I plan to take off the breading and find a harbor seal to feed. As for service? Was heartily welcomed at the door, but service fell short thereafter. Waiter did bring fresh coffee; just the single cup. After ordering, my waiter left me to ask for refills and my togo box from other passing servers; basically, he took my order and later took my payment, thats it. The other wait staff were extremely helpful and friendly; I should have tipped them, rather than my assigned order taker. Overall, I was not impressed. Maybe, after my blood sodium levels drop, Ill try again. Perhaps breakfast with fresh fruits and oatmeal; hopefully, they wont be heavily salted.

I had very different experiences at Good Harvest Café. During a week trip visiting the Redwoods, we dined at Good Harvest Café three times as there is very little in the way of decent restaurants in Crescent City. The first two dining experiences were a late lunch/early dinner at the bar upstairs where we enjoyed the service and meals tremendously. At least a 4 star rating for sure! Unfortunately, our experience for breakfast was not even close to the same. I have never had more terrible service in my lifetime! It took 15 minutes to be greeted after being seated at our table. It took 30 minutes to receive a beverage. Not only was the service slow, the waitress was actually mean and scowled at us at total of three times. I loved my over medium eggs and the rest was not edible. The biscuits were not cooked, the gravy was from a mix that left a lot to be desired and the bacon was undercooked and dripping fat. All of this was left on the table and the waitress never asked why I was not eating nor asked how the meal was prior to throwing a bill at us. I would not give this experience a star at all as it left me in a bad mood and starving. The waitress should be ashamed of herself and should look into a new job that does not require contact with humans!

Here on a long weekend, we opted for this restaurant due to proximity to our hotel. First thing that happened when we opened the front door, a spider came down from the ceiling to greet us square in the face. That set the tone. We were served upstairs, which is where the bar is. This place suffers from an identity crisis. Native American decor mixed with contemporary furnishings. By themselves all good, together, sorta wonky. Wine list is weird, the only serve one winery by the glass (Fetzer). Menu is quite extensive, but maybe too any choices. Had the Chicken Cordon Bleu and it was OK but the presentation was weird. Tomato and lettuce on the side like with a sandwich, but the cordon blue comes in a casserole dish. Rice pilaf was presented in a jello mold style (upside down cup mold)...again weird. Ditched the lettuce/tomato and the casserole dish, spread around everything in a typical plate presentation and voila - normal food. Wife had the vegetarian pasta and it was OK. Pluses - its OK food in a clean atmosphere but weirdly decorated Minuses - seems to be some eco-nut owner with an identity crises and no real experience with running a restaurant. For Crescent City, its probably an 8-9 on a scale of 10, for the rest of the USA probably a 4-5.

Organic food perhaps, but this does little for my palate when the food is mediocre. My partner had the Tuna Manhatten and I had a broiled fish sandwich. Both meals were rather sad in appearance, but our salad and clam chowder were tasty. The bread on my sandwich seemed a bit stale - not old necessarily, but certainly not kept in the best location in the kitchen (or the food sat under the lamp for a wee bit prior to its delivery to the table). In addition, we waited about 15 min to be spoken to prior to being sat, then another 10 prior to our order being taken. For the quality of the meal I wouldve expected to be in and out of there in 30-40 min, we were there for about an hour and that was eating in haste. The drip coffee was good, my partner had a latte and it was miserable... ADMITTEDLY they were busy as heck and there really only seemed to be a couple of the servers who knew what they were up to, but this doesnt particularly excuse the undesirable dining experience... if you can be bothered, wait until youre up the road a few more miles and stop into one of the local cafes. I reckon the experience would be significantly better.

Walked in at 3:40 and asked to go up to the bar. We were told the bar doesnt open till 4. Asked if we could sit up there and wait. Were told NO. Asked if we could sit at a table and order a drink and wait until the bar opened. We were asked if we were going to be eating dinner. I responded with no and was told the tables were going to fill in with dinner guests. The place was half occupied at the time. She was fairly rude about the whole thing and told us the bar would open in 20 minutes. All we really wanted was a couple drinks and an appetizer or two. She had red hair although I didnt get her name. Not a very good employee in the service industry. As an alternative we went next door to the Northwood public house at the Best Western. They sat us down even thought they dont open until 4 officially and served us a drink while the kitchen finished prep. Great beer selection and great apps. Friendly and personable service. I wont try the Good Harvest Cafe again. Just be friendly. Life is easier that way.

Crap service. If I owned the place Id fire the manager yesterday. He was standing around complaining with the servers about how he "hates it when the restaurant is busy". He did this right in front of about 12 people standing in the doorway waiting to be given a table. The line was so long that I saw 6 people turn around and leave because it took so long for any of us to get any service from the hostess. This isnt the first time Ive seen the managers piss poor attitude in action. Or in his case, non-action. Since he does anything to avoid interacting with customers that may have a question. He clearly hates his job. Either that or Ive just happened to come in to eat exactly on the same 3 random days he was having a bad day. And if ur looking for breakfast, show up before 10:45. Because even tho they stop serving breakfast at 11:15am, the manager will turn u away if hes already switched the kitchen over 30min early. Do urself a favor dude..... Quit and get a job u like. Cause ur killing this restaurant.
