This place is great! I was looking for some hiking books I saw at Barnes and Noble. I thought they probably wont have such books here, but I checked anyways, and they did. In fact, they had a lot of the same books Barnes and Noble has for way cheaper. Wish the travel section was a bit bigger, but I bought a hiking book and fat atlas of France for just $17.00. Only recommendation, I wish they would put a price sticker on the outside. I saw the original $20.00 price tag on the atlas, and thought it was cost $20.00, so I was surprised when the girl only charged $17.00 for everything. I didnt until afterwards, that the stores price was written on the inside. They should write it somewhere where its more visible. Other than that, I have no complaints. I will probably come back to this place a few more times to see if they have anything else I like. I shouldve asked them if they BUY books.

Used bookstores have always held a special place in my heart and I was pleased to find The Bookstore, when I moved to Chico five years ago! Josh has done a great job of keeping the business going and I have seen several improvements since he took over. I always enjoy browsing and have found many treasures on the shelves. The store is well-organized, and very clean - almost too clean for a used bookstore, but its got a great ambiance and Josh, Muir and his staff are very knowledgeable about the inventory and also very accommodating when you have questions.

When we walked in with a specific request, the kind fellow behind the counter went above and beyond the call of duty to help us find our book. He demonstrated excellent customer service and while we didnt get our book, we will be back!!

Really fun place to look for that lost gem of a book that youve been dying to read. Also a really good source for cheap childrens books for little ones.

Excellent selection of books, especially for history/politics. Creaky hardwood floors and wall to wall books really add some charm. Decent prices too.
