We have been to this cafe a few times over 3 separate trips to Carmel. We generally found the staff ok, todays service was definitely friendly enough and I have nothing to complain about in that respect. HOWEVER: The coffee we ordered (as each time in the past) was less than memorable. A double espresso, served in an overly large paper cup, tasting about as weak as a watery Americano. I suspect that the coffee beans they are working with are not great to begin with and then the espresso is just brewed too thin. My partners Machiato was fine but again the coffee was weak and had no flavour to it (so basically the macchiato suffered the same issues as my espresso). We ordered a Blueberry cheesecake to share. The blueberries were real blueberries (thats a win) however the general cheesecake was just again lacking in flavour and was basically a large slice of sugary, cream cheese shaped into a calorie dense, flavour-low cake. I just want more from my cake than this cheesecake provided. Overall we spent $10.45 and it just felt like a bit of a waste of money. The cozy yard area to sit in wasnt really cozy, but then again we knew that, since weve been here before. Just that there arent all that many other options in Carmel for an afternoon coffee. Not that we know of anyway. One other place is in a shopping plaza that currently has a building site in it, so we didnt fancy that; and another place was closed and there might have been one additional option but it would have meant walking further and we were pretty tired. Overall: if you are ok with weak coffee and just a sugar bomb for a cake then this is your place. On a quiet day the yard is quite ok, but when we were there today it was busy and uncomfortable. Nobody stayed for longer than a few minuets because it really was not as cozy as advertised. The Italians lasted 2 minutes. Walked in - took one look, walked out! Follow the Italians when you want a reasonable coffee and cake experience. We wish we had. p.s. once more: the service was absolutely fine. But possibly not great coffee drinkers themselves.

The rudest most disrespectful staff ever encountered. The pastries leave a bit to be desired - the coffee is good but not spectacular.... however, the staff behaviour ( very unpleasant lady who was with Micheal) was totally intolerable. The good reviews that your company receives for your coffee will never compensate for the unacceptable rudeness of your staff. To be exact: 26 July 2017/3:34pm/receipt 166736 and it was not a take out - the cashier assumed that it was without asking You probably dont care about 6 very unsatisfied unhappy customers ( there were 6 of us and we have friends) because everyone thinks you are great. The truth is we were done a disservice and no customer deserves that. We are not coffee connoisseurs but we know great from good coffee. And lastly, you need to send your staff to serious training or retraining on good customer service.

Get a reality check! Mr. Business owner the true bully is YOU stop trying to bait me just admit your supporting bad business to local and tourist people with your disinterested, no customer service staff, just fix the problem instead of blaming customers like us that keep you in business Ive said before your coffee is good not great just people behind the counter needs severe help in customer service, word of mouth gets around a small community in Monterey area people talk. I havent changed my tune about your manager believe me others have been offended by your staff I am not alone on this subject. Oh by the way stop stalking me on my reviews, I know the truth hurts I feel for you "JUST FIX IT" have a wonderful day :-)

Coffee is good. Prices are reasonable. Staff seemed disinterested. Though I did overhear one of the girls that was working the register complain of feeling under the weather. So it might have just been an off day. Worth a stop by. Cool little courtyard area. Im gonna come back and give them another try and see if the service will be better. Nice decor too. After going back sveral times. Its clear it was just an off day. Good service every other time I went there.

A place like this is the best argument for alternatives to Starbucks. Best tasting mocha I have ever had, and Im not prone to superlatives - and I have had quite a few. Update: apparently, the quality control isnt as tight. Went back the next day, got the same thing - and, a tinge of disappointment. Still better than SB, but not as good as yesterday. One star is coming off.

Good coffee but so-so service. Nothing really stands out about this place except for they have a coffee roaster. The tables were dirty. So dirty that we watched a bird flew in from outside and eat an entire meal on a dirty table inside of the business. If you want a decent cup of coffee, this place is fine, but dont expect anything special here.

We stopped here after dinner and ordered a cafe latte, which was very good. We came back in the morning for their coffee which is supposed to be roasted on site. The coffee was great. The hard part is picking which pastry you want because they all look so good. Quality food and drink, we would definitely return and recommend it.

A small and pretty coffee shop hidden between buildings. It took a while for us to find this place. Baristas are friendly and the drinks are good. It seems many people know this place. Its kind of crowded in there even though its hidden is a small alley.

Stopped here during my visit to Carmel. Very quaint cozy place tucked away off of the street in a European like garden setting. I visited four other coffee roasters in Carmel & found this one to serve the freshest robust expresso. I will be back!

Good coffee and good food. Usually a wait here because it is so popular. I feel like the coffee could be better since they are a coffee company, but it doesnt seem to be any better than Starbucks, just way more expensive. Overall not a bad stop.

We had a decent mocha here served by some seriously uninterested staff. The place is quaint, however not air conditioned at all, and features a single ceiling fan. This leaves everyone in line drenched in sweat while they wait for their drink.

Tasty coffees, excellent mocha, loved the heated ham and cheese croissant for $3.95. Servers could be friendlier. Inside the alley which makes for quiet, plentiful patio seating, also has indoor tables. Roast their own coffee.

Comfy coffee shop with good coffee. The atmosphere is nice and is certainly an upgrade over the Starbucks that is in the same plaza. This is a great place to rest and get your caffeine fix before hitting the open road again.

Nice local coffeehouse A good-looking display of sweets and snacks were available. When you get an iced coffee, they pour hot brew over ice cubes and fill up the cup. This results in a weak, lukewarm beverage. No bueno.

I had a phenomenal mocha here. I will definitely return. Small, quaint, and tucked away in the heart of downtown Carmel, the wait staff was friendly and efficient. Its worth coming to Carmel just for the hot brew.
