Moving from Atlanta and missing my local roaster their I checked out Philz here first. Great place to get a freshly made cup of coffee. Theyre going to grind the beans and use a poor over to make your coffee AFTER you order it. So much better than getting coffee thats been sitting around all day. This place is for coffee lovers NOT Starbucks lovers. If you like Starbucks thats cool but dont expect this to have a menu like Starbucks. On the contrary this places menu is 80% just choosing what type of roast and bean origin you want. They have tons of options. The Tantalizing Turkish was the first thing I tried and I keep going back to it. Very good. Cant review their latte making skills because I just enjoy a cup of coffee black. Im sure its on par though. Watched a new hire spending over an hour making cups of coffee for the manager to taste test until he got it just right. Really impressed with this place.

The five star is purely for their customer service. Today was the third time I went here and (luckily) there was no crowd. This wonderful lady called Elizabeth took the time to brew three different types of coffee and personalize it to my taste just so she could get a sense of what kind of coffee I like and what I could ask for in future. Real good stuff. Tip: Rush hour in this place is pretty long (pretty long!!!) a wait. Have the patience - they make the quality of the product worth it. Recommendation: Try having another print or blackboard near the wait line - would be really helpful.

This is not your typical Philz... this location is in a busy strip wall, and immediately feels like it has less "soul" than every other location Ive been to. There is a short line queue, which will leave you standing outside the door if youre more than 5 people back. This suburban location also attracts a younger crowd - obnoxious middle/high schoolers (be ready to hear "like" like 50 times per minute from the table next to you). On the plus side, there is free high-speed internet, from Facebook. I certainly hope this is not a glimpse at what future Philz Coffee locations will look like...

Ive been to several Philz in the area and this one is my least favorite when it comes to cafe atmosphere and service. Its in a huge plaza (Boudin SF, Home goods, Rubios) so parking isnt an issue. If youre here to study, seating is very limited and the seating they do have is clustered around the bathroom and in the back of the cafe. Baristas seem more interested in socializing with friends than actual customer service. Ive also seen the line wrap around and go out the door so be prepared to wait. Main plus was my mint mojito iced coffee was made perfectly! Best Ive ever had it.

Again, its just coffee based mixed drink, like Asian style tea based mixed drink with untraceable beans and unknown or unhealthy additives and sweetener. The drink here is commonly 3+ equivalent shots, and it easily gets you sleeplessness even after 12 hours which is good for truck drivers or code monkeys or dont know what he or she is busy with! Real coffee connoisseur only comes here for seeing the degenerative others. Parking is tight here so dont drive your SUV or Tesla but a Prius or your 2 legs in young sweaty pants seem just right.

Long lines are the norm. You get to see their menu which has useful tasting notes while you wait so you can try a new coffee blend. Iced Mint Mojito is overrated in my opinion. Staff are great here. If you bring your personal cup or thermos, they give you a $1 discount. Interesting coffee themed art on the walls to look at while they brew your drink. Tables fill up fast. Seems like some people like to camp out at their table. They have outdoor seating so you can watch cars drive by.

This place is very different from most other philz because of its location. Most other philz are in a walkable area, this one is in a shopping center. The thing I liked most is that they have adult coloring pages in line. Everyone can contribute to the art project. It would be cool if they started getting coffee related pages and posted them to the walls when theyre fully colored. Whoever came up with the idea for this deserves some props and a raise.

Always love me some good Philz coffee! My usual is the Mocha Tesoro (light sweet) with soy (just because I like the soy taste in this drink). This location is crazy busy though because I think its the only one in a huge distance. A line out the door is pretty typical on weekends. The slower, methodical methodology of Philz tends to calm one down even though the line is long. So come here if you dont mind waiting for a delicious cup of coffee!

Two stars for customer service. Young lady behind the counter was either hung over, or didnt care about her job. Her lack of effort in calling customers names when placing the finished coffee on the counter lead to multiple customers confused and waiting prolonged periods of time for their drink. Zero eye contact, didnt bother to say hello, or thank you for coming in. Good customer service should be standard for a $4 coffee.

The best if not only cup of iced mojito coffee in San Jose. This is one of the reasons we go back to Philz. The lobby where you place orders is spacious and orderly, always has a line out the door. The nice touch of adding mint leaves to the cup left us wondering whether theres an abundance of these leaves in the market right now, because the portion was abundant. We will be back. Now theres even a store in Santa Monica!

Slow and overly complicated... good coffee though. Not a good spot to stop for a quick fix and they dont have expresso. Took 20 minutes to get a coffee I couldnt pronounce but was told it was close to an Americano. Not very busy and a bit chaotic... cant imagine there actually being a line. Anyhow, the coffee appears to be about as good as any other $4.50 cup Ive had before.

Im a sucker and die-hard fan of the iced mint mojito coffee. I can have this every day and never tire of it. The customer service is great and the baristas always make sure the coffee is made to your liking. You can also pre-order in advance and skip the long lines, though in my opinion, the wait is well worth it. Even if you dont like coffee, Philz will make you a convert.

Love love love Philz - my drink of choice is Dancing Water with cream. Of course theres the lovely mint mojito coffee as well. They also have options to snack on - bagels and burritos and sausage sandwiches. Yes to the chocolate chip cookies. The staff is so lovely - we got free coffee once when we went after our engagement shoot. The staff helped us celebrate! :)

Delicious coffee, lots of choices, made a cup at a time. My favorite is Tantalizing Turkish. Service is really friendly and polite, but dont bother swinging by at peak times (e.g. morning commute) if you dont have 10-15 min to wait for your coffee. They have a hard time keeping up with the line. Youll love it if you dont mind the wait, though!

Gave this place another try after my first visit (which wasnt great) and they have definitely stepped up their game since opening. Awesome coffee and the staff is super friendly. If its your first time I recommend going with the silken splendor. You tell them your cream/sugar quantity too when you order and I usually go medium/medium. :)
