The quality of service at SAS Fabrics appears to be a mixed bag. Some customers praise the staff for being helpful and attentive. However, there are also reports of employees being unresponsive or even rude. One customer mentioned having to wait for a long time before getting assistance, despite multiple employees being present. Another mentioned that the staff seemed uninterested in helping and were not proactive in offering assistance.
SAS Fabrics offers a wide range of fabrics and related items. The store is described as a "bargain hunter's dream" with a vast selection of fabrics, elastics, laces, threads, patches, and craft supplies. However, the store layout is not organized, requiring customers to dig through large piles to find what they need.
The pricing at SAS Fabrics is considered to be very competitive. Customers have noted that the prices are unbeatable even when compared to online retailers. However, the store has specific purchasing requirements that may force customers to buy more than they initially intended. For example, you cannot buy a piece of fabric that leaves less than 1 yard to go back onto the sales floor.
The store is primarily a self-service model, focusing on offering a wide range of discounted textiles. It's not a boutique; it's more of a discount textiles outlet. The store's primary focus is on providing a variety of fabrics at discounted prices rather than customer service.
The staff's behavior has been described as ranging from helpful to unresponsive. Some customers have had positive interactions with the staff, while others describe them as uninterested or even rude. One customer noted that only one out of three employees responded when asked for help.
The store is located at 5320 E Speedway Blvd, Tucson, AZ 85712, USA. One significant drawback mentioned by customers is the lack of restroom facilities for patrons. Customers are directed to use the restrooms of neighboring businesses, which some find to be a poor business decision, especially for a store that expects customers to spend a considerable amount of time shopping.

I had gone back to SAS, my second visit ever because on my first visit I had been overcharged by six dollars by this really unfriendly unhelpful man. There apparently was no way to prove the lace I had dug out of a dusty box had been on sale in that box but clear as day on my receipt, the math for the other fabric I bought was obviously wrong: 2 yards at 1.99=5.98? I dont think so. The manager who gave me the 2 dollar refund was very nice and helpful but she disappeared unfortunately. There were no black zippers over 7" and no one would help me. I ended up dragging a huge roll of fabric (again because no one would help) that was much taller than I was, up to the register. Three employees behind the register area, looking at each of them wondering which was going to help me; one staring off into space avoiding my gaze, another walking back and forth in front of me making a point not to look, and one manning the register watching the one staring off into space . After about sixty seconds of this, realizing no one was going to do their job, I asked loudly if anyone worked there, answered by three blank looks. All I wanted was to get a price on this heavy fabric. Finally the register girl came over , measured it out and then the "staring off into space" employee came out of her trance to help her , wiping her nose with her hand and handling my fabric . Delightful. These employees I have dealt with are jokers except the manager who refunded me and an East Indian woman who was at least receptive to my questions. The register girl was fake nice apart from being lazy but at least she was the only one who responded to my question if anyone worked there. Do not go here if you are looking for help

**No restroom** I went to pick up some materials and I thought I was going to be able to spend some time looking and shopping. They have many people shopping there and they enjoy quite a lot of patrons but they fail to have a restroom for their patrons and request that you should leave the store to use the facilities of their neighboring business. Those business get to support the profit of SAS and SAS has no problem making their patrons go across the street (speedway) or down the block to a What-a-burger. I have known this business for many years and it appears they have refurbished the outside and made changes on the inside but fail to consider the client base. They have many patron in their facility and as it a get it yourself store and you must wait to be serviced for cuts but you must leave the store to use the bathroom. If I have to leave the store to use the bathroom then they dont want my business. I could easily spend lots of time gather my sewing needs and buying their products. I am sure I am not the only person who see this as an poor business decision. Most women who have had children or are older (and that goes for men) may need to use the restroom. If they have children those children may need to use the restroom. I would understand if they had a policy where "customers only" but sending their customers to other business is just bad business. I hope their neighbors find out. Dont go to this store until they provide a bathroom for their patrons. In this heat you must drink lots of water and stay hydrated so when you enter a cool place your body wants to balance the liquid with the temperature. Just physiology.

First of all, prices here are unbeatable, even by online fabric retailers. $3.99 for designer brand quilting cottons is unheard of. They have so much and its not organized so you have to be willing/able to literally dig through giant piles of fabric. Their purchasing requirements are a little strange. Apparently you cannot buy a piece of fabric that leaves less than 1 yard left to go back onto the sales floor. When it comes to quilting cotton, they cannot send less than 2 yards back to the sales floor. That means if you pick up a fabric that has 2 yards left, you have to buy both yards or they cant sell it to you. All of the quilting cottons I picked up had almost exactly 2 yards so I ended up buying more than I needed. I am ok with that since the prices are so great, but if you need smaller pieces and dont "collect" fabric like I do you may not like having so much extra.

With a background in business management, I can guarantee you that any store that denies their customers access to their bathroom are denying their selves access to additional profits. Within a traditional business model, it’s not good business. On the other hand, this place is not exactly a boutique where you pay for and expect good service. Its basically a discount textiles outlet. Theyre not focused on customer service, theyre focused on stacking every kind of fabric you can imagine up to the rafters, discounting the crap out of it, and sending you on your way once youve climbed your way back to the cash registers. Its not an ideal business model by any stretch but it works for them and they seem to have a solid customer base. If you can suspend any expectations you may have, youll come away with some good deals.

SAS is where you go to shop when youve decided you hate yourself, your time isnt valuable and youd like to be treated like garbage. If there were zero stars thats what I would give this filthy, unorganized business. The employees were incredibly rude and unconcerned with assisting customers. Prices on cotton fabric werent anything special ($5.99 to $9.99/yd for most fabric on bolts). When we asked if the four year old with us could use the restroom (accompanied by an adult) they said they didnt have one. When pressed further (because come on, how stupid do you think I am), they admitted that there was a bathroom but that customers werent allowed to use it. Ever. Not even four year old customers about to have an accident in their store. We will never be back. Save yourself the trouble and go somewhere (anywhere) else.

This place is a bargain hunters dream. Lots and lots of fabric, elastic, lace, thread, patches and crafty stuff to choose from at prices you cannot find ANYWHERE else. Because its a discount store that focuses on bargains and not service, you serve yourself. If you take the time to read the 1,001 signs posted everywhere its pretty easy to maneuver. If you find something you like but its cut wonky or has a strip missing they will usually give you a % off the already super low price. Please note that it is cluttered and messy in there. I do not mind, but I know some people will. As a new sewer I am grateful for this place because I do not have to worry about wasting material because of cost. Overall this place is pretty awesome! Good luck and happy sewing!

This is a big grab bag of different fabrics separated in categories but stacked up in some places with so many different pieces and bolts of colors, prints, and types. Not neatly sorted like a big commercial fabric store but the possibilities are endless. If you are good at digging into the big pile and having that kind of patience, you never know what you will find. They also have all different kinds of ribbons, buttons, accoutrements for craft minded and creative types. Bring a friend with you that likes to "dig" and plan to spend some time if you are looking for something in particular. Things do not jump out at you here and you may get overwhelmed so if you want to have the best experience bring a friend who likes to hunt for treasure.
