It is interesting seeing all of the reviews. I had a fantastic experience. I went to design school in LA and this is probably the best selection of fabric I have seen in Arizona. They were super busy. At the cutting table the lady who helped me wasnt overly friendly, but the cashier was super nice. Its refreshing to talk to people who know about fabric, and actually know how to cut fabric. Every time I have gone to JoAnns out here I end up with less fabric than I purchased because they dont know anything about fabric. I will continue going to SAS. It was incredible. Prices are WAY cheaper than Joanns, i.e. I bought jersey knit for $6.99 a yard and that was with a 50% off coupon, and at SAS I spent $1.99 a yard and it wasnt on sale and it was higher quality fabric. Every fabric I saw in there was less expensive than JoAnns. Im willing to take an extra 15-30 minutes to deal with the crowd and under staffed shop to save a ton. LOVED IT! If you are looking for cottons or batiste this is probably not the best place, but they have organzas, satins, dupioni, the most beautiful chiffons, knits, a little lycra, felt, etc... It is my new favorite store!

I personally have not shopped here as I was barred from the store! I arrived at the store at 5:37 only to find they had just closed at 5:30. I was sad of course. However, I needed fabric to make a toga for a party that night so I was talking to one of the women who works there through the door as it was locked about where the closest fabric store is thats still open. In the middle of that conversation, a woman of about 50 yelled through the door that shes about to call 911 on me! I have no clue what prompted her to say that as I did nothing that may require calling the police. Literally, all I did was talk through the door. I didnt even try to open the door because I read the closed sign first. I had to longboard 6 more miles to the next fabric store, Jo-Anns, which they lied and told me was on University and Dobson when its actually in Riverview. Cant attest to their selection or prices, but from what I experienced, they seem to have terribly awful service. Personally, Jo-Anns is way better. Best of luck and hope your experience is better than mine.

After all of these reviews I was concerned going to this store as I can tend to get mouthy if I receive poor service. They were not only friendly, they were extremely helpful. I walked passed the counter with two rolls of fabric and one of the ladies stopped me and told me she could hold them for me. I had been debating over the two and was concerned if the one I truly liked was going to be enough for my drape project. This lady kindly unrolled the whole thing just so we could determine if if was enough, and it was! I also mentioned the negative comments on this site and that I was pleased that my service was the exact opposite. There is a lot of fabric in the store and not quite the best set up, so dont shop crabby you will frustrate yourself. As for the fabric, it is wonderful. Definitely fabric that is easily snagged and it was pretty much flawless. It cost me $3.99/yd and the same type of fabric elsewhere was in way of $8.99/yd. Thank you SAS for friendly service and a great product I received. My drapes are wonderful!

Lets just talk about service for a moment: Do you ask the minimum wage clerk at the grocery store how much flour you need for the cake youre going to bake? What kind of flour? What type of cake to make? If you have an idea of what you need for a project (know how many yards!) clerks will be happy to point you in the right directions (nothing is ever in just one place in here!). Like mentioned in reviews, this place is BUSY, especially on Saturday. Dilly dallying at the counter and not knowing the golden question (HOW MANY YARDS) is going to irritate not just the clerks, but everyone else waiting. If you need your hand held so much, maybe you should just to to Joannes, or heck, hire a seamstress. The cork boards in SAS have contact info for sewing classes & plenty of local seamstresses. If you need help, get it from the right person- the price is worth having it done correctly. SAS is understaffed and how to you expect them to prevent fabric avalanches & get the new stuff on the shelves if they are busy designing your dress?

I volunteer with an animal rescue and wanted to make some be dog leashes for the dogs. Im a beginner with sewing but I had a good idea on what I needed to make them abd I knew I could do it for super cheap there. I have anxiety problems due to military ptsd issues so its not often I venture out alone to shop. The store was somewhat busy and I was instantly overwhelmed. After checking out ribbon and finding the webbing I needed, I sought out one of the associates for assistance cutting the ribbon. She asked what I was making and I indulged, also mentioning how my dog will be in training to be my service dog to which she told me that theyre more than welcome in the store. She was very nice and helpful in keeping me calm and relaxed as she could see I was visibly in distress from my anxiety. Beyond helpful, couldnt have asked for a better experience!

Walked in then promptly walked out after viewing their selections. Ive been to SAS in LA, Tucson, and in both Phoenix areas but never the Tempe one. I was expecting organized chaos but there were piles of fabric, types of material under the wrong piles. I couldnt even spot a solid I was looking for because it was too overwhelming when It shouldnt have been. I do not doubt the prices at all since they sell fabric cheaply but if you have the time to shift through fabric, then I would recommend. (I cannot speak on customer service but I did hear the people at the cutting counter being very polite to customers. This Is strictly about the store being a strange mess compare to their other stores)

Epic fail from the staff! We were treated so badly after being in the store for more than 45 mins with at least $200 worth of merchandise on the counter to purchase. When we come to the area once every 2 years we usually stock up on trims but never again will I shop here. My three year old said he had to use the restroom and they refused their restroom. I can understand no public restrooms to adults especially since this store is in a bad neighborhood with lots of not so nice looking people walking around. BUT, No store should ever deny a three year old a potty. SAS missed out on a really big sale. Dont ever expect the staff to be nice or friendly.

Great locally run fabric store to buy anything you can imagine at. They buy and stock a lot of unique prints you cant find at Joanns. Prices vary, some things they are cheaper on some things they are more expensive on, Shop local and support local businesses. A bunch of old ladies with more years of experience sewing then I have been alive, SUPER HELPFUL if you are making some random outfit for medieval reenactment and maybe dont have a pattern handy:) They dont sell patterns but they sell everything else you need. 100s of button options, velcro, eyelets, ribbon, rope. Anything you might need for a project they have it
