Joey Luck @ Tattooed Planet took care of what others couldnt and wouldnt. I was in town from Chicago, and had stopped by a few shops to see about getting a custom piece done. Most of the shops would not take my work, for one reason or another, mainly in my opinion pure lazyness (they stated they did not want to work so late). Now I was a tattoo artist myself in Chicago, and would never turn down work as long as we were open, and at times would open on odd hours just to do a piece, ESPECIALLY CUSTOM WORK!! (Barbed wire, tribal, and butterfly flash gets boring as hell after a while folks.) When I asked the "other" shops if they had any recommendations on other spots, they told me there was nothing good and nobody would do this kinda work this late (it was ONLY quarter to 10pm on a Saturday!!!), D-bags. So continuing my search, I drove by Tattooed Planet and stopped in. Now this is what a tattoo shop should be inside. They had at least 3 customers being worked on at the time, and a few onlookers that were to put it nicely "on the fence" about getting a tattoo. After one or two minutes of looking around at some of the work and admiring the bulletin board with some limited time custom artist sketches, I was greeted in a nonchalant, sunny disposition (I found this very appropriate and entertaining). This was my kind of shop. I explained to Joey Luck I wanted a design loosely based off the arizona state flag. Joey and I went back and forth over a few ideas on placement, style, and color. He then drew it directly on my the back of my upper arm flowing into the shoulder and back as because of the placement and flow, a transfer was not the best option. While getting the tattoo, listened to some great music, and enjoyed banter with Joey. Two and a half hours later, I had a very nicely done, large bright custom piece with nice fades and whips. I have to give it to Joey here because not only am I picky when it comes to work, but he also had to deal with the fact that my skin was like a lizard and peeling pretty bad from an argument I had with the sun and lost. He knew how to handle it and days later I am even happier than I was. I recommend this shop and in particular Joey Luck. Just know what in the hell you want and for Gods sake, let your tattoo artist have some creative influence when you get work done. It is so much more fun and meaningful.

Mustve come in on an off day. Me and my girlfriend showed up at noon when they were supposed to be open and waited out front for 30 minutes before one artist and the receptionist finally showed up. Upon arrival we were told to wait a few minutes for them to get the shop ready, which is no big deal. The problem came about when two people showed up about five minutes after we were told to wait and we walked in right after cause we figured they were ready. We waited another 10 minutes only to have the people who clearly showed up after us get helped first. We left and I called to express my complaint and the response I got was, "well her tattoo was small and I had a 1 oclock appointment." The tattoo I was looking to get was also small and I wasnt even asked to see a picture of it. The first come first serve policy here was clearly thrown out the window and tattooed planet lost two loyal customers whove had pieces done there several times. UPDATE: If you want to get professional work done I recommend Maine street tattoo. They stick to their first come first serve policy, have great pricing, and everyone there was super friendly and helpful.

Note: This is about piercings. I would not recommend getting a piercing from here at all. I went to get my tragus pierced and the person who pierced my ear used a piece that was not meant for the tragus (it was a nose stud). He also did not recommend any cleaning or healing information at the end of the appointment, nor did he ask me if I had eaten recently. A few days later, I had a huge rash on my face and the piercing was highly irritated. I went to the doctor who told me I should remove the piercing, so I went back to Tattooed Planet and they told me that it should be fine and that I should not remove it. Fast forward 4 months later and the tragus is still irritated. I went to see a licensed piercer at a different business and he told me that the piece that was in my ear was garbage. He also told me that the angle of the piercing was poorly done. He removed it and told me not to go back to Tattooed Planet again. My tragus got better immediately. None of my other piercings have ever been infected or irritated except for the one I got at Tattooed Planet. Really unprofessional and unsatisfying service

In April for my 18th birthday I went to get pierced through the back of my ear, on both ears. The only reason I went to Tattooed Planet is because my typical piercer at Artistic Tattoo was off. AND my brother loves Ms. Jersey Jen and her talents! =) Anyways, the dude who pierced me was REALLY NICE, like REALLY cool. The problem is that he only cleaned my ear with an alcohol swab. My typical piercer uses iodine and clean it off with alcohol. Considering there is hair near the ear and the ear is susceptible to bacteria you’d think he’d use iodine. So then he pierced me which was an enjoyable experience but the earrings he put in my ear were too snug. In these piercings its appropriate to put ½ inch barbell instead of a smaller one. I would definitely go there for a tattoo and get tattooed by the dude but I’m sticking to my old piercer.

I emailed the shop begging for help with what I knew was going to be a difficult task, Joey Luck emailed me back asking me to come in for a consultation, that was the first sign of the professional care I needed from a tattoo shop. I had emailed a few other shops and they just said yep I can do it, its gonna cost $ xx when you wanna come in? I went in for consult, Joey sat down and talked to me, got a real feel for who I was and created the most beautiful cover up I have ever seen. The execution was perfect color scheme and design are perfect. Unbelievably great work. We have already begun planning the rest of my sleeve, my boyfriend is getting work done next weekend we have referred everyone we know. For as long as we live in AZ tattooed planet will be our shop, Joey will be our guy. Hes absolutely amazing.

I have 2 tattoos and both were done at Tattooed Planet. The service was EXCELLENT! I came in very nervous the first time, and immediately the staff had me laughing and feeling right at home. The place was spotless btw... I chose Los who not only did amazing work, on a detailed piece, but gave me advice on color Ive always been glad that I took. I calmed down completely and had a wonderful experience. Of course I came back to see Los for my second tattoo but he was on vacation, so Joe did my second one for me, which was also a great choice and a great experience! (He is a great listener btw) Just like the first one, that piece is also exactly as I wanted it to be. Ive stopped in just to say "Hi" a few times while walking by, since my first experience in 2003, and they always remember me!!
