RUDE STAFF: I stopped at this store cause I was in the area looking for an apartment but if I end up moving to area I will avoid this store just based on first impression. Middle aged black male cashier was rude to me and white male mgr reprimanded another employee right in front of others. DETAILS: I gave cashier my "loyalty card" and rather than return to me, he placed it on the other side of scanner, where you eventually stand to pay but I didnt notice that move...instead I just paid, got my bags and was on my way out when I spotted avocados on sale they had close to exit, so I decided to get one and was looking for the card but I didnt have it...so as I get back in line to pay, the cashier has the card and when I said I didnt get the card back he kind of had an attitude like it was on me to not have noticed where he put it! I said everywhere I go, they just give it right back to me, but no, he insisted he put it where he always puts it, sort of indicating that if you dont get it its your fault....so he kind of just dug his heels and he must be in very good terms with manager (or Supervisor) cause he was right there helping with baging and only reason I know he was a lead person is because either first of 2nd time I was in front of them, the cashier made a comment to mgr that made him turn around and direct his attention to a cart where I guess they put items that need to be put back in shelves and apparently the young employee was taking a couple of items at a time vs. taking whole cart and do it all at once and so while I can see their point, mgr went about it in a kind of harsh way saying to employee that it was a waste of time to do it that way and being the equivalent of "a blind person trying to check out items" or something along those lines, and sort of like a Dad reprimanding his 6 yr old! So, the whole thing just seemed like out of a different era! I thought nowadays we were more "enlightened" about how we should treat customers and employees.

This place is a major part of my day, whether Im just starting and getting my day organized, or a place to take a break and grab something to eat or drink and cool off. The employees and management are great and friendly. I happen to be displaced at the moment of no fault of my own. Have lost everything and thats hard on me personally, so its nice that with the homeless issues and the unessesary amounts that are hungry in this country that throws away 200 billion tons of food each year and restaurants deliberately taint food waist prior to throwing away so it cant be consumed by individuals that choose to retrieve from garbage there so hungry, its corporate and private irresponsibility to do such things when this food should be set out for these people. Anyway, this place leaves us/them alone for most part to cool off in Cafe which provides free WiFi a place to charge the electronics and watch the news on a nice flat screen. Most places treat these people so badly and lick them out time vermin, granted there are ignorant and careless think society owes them people out there but we are not all like that.SO, THANKS TO ALL THE KIND AND GENEROUS PEOPLE AND BUSINESSES WHO DO GIVE, OFFER AND AT LEAST ASK OF ON NEED OR SELFLESSLY GIVE, PLEASE CONTINUE FOR YOUR GENEROUS NATURE IS APPRECIATED AND TO ALL WHO LOOK DOWN ON THE HOMELESS Popuation; YOU HAVE NO IDEA WHY That PERSON IS THERE AND CAN EASILY BE YOU AT A MOMENTS NOTICE, ITS Happening NOW TO MYSELF. SO BE KIND YOUR NOT ANY BETTER. THANKS TO YOU SAFEWAY ANT YPUR TOLERANCE.

We used to spend $100s of dollars a week here. After tonights experience, we will never be shopping here again and will instead go to Frys, Bashas, and the multiple international markets in the valley that we enjoy shopping at. The customer service here is horrible. We were waiting in line behind someone who had forgotten their pin. The cashier dealt with him for 20 minutes while we waited there and he didnt say anything to us. After this time period, we walked to a different line and got checked out and left while the other cashier was still dealing with the guy who had forgotten his pin. The cashiers should not waste the customers time by taking an excessive amount of time dealing with someone who forgot their pin. When I brought up the situation with the night manager, who was a larger woman, she seemed like she couldnt give a crap about us and this horrible experience! She didnt even apologize for it. Managers should not be so rude as to be completely oblivious and careless when a customer brings up a problem. I will not ever be shopping at a Safeway ever again since the company apparently thinks that it is okay to treat customers like this.

Terrible Experience: I purchased Money Orders from their Customer Service Department. In the amount of $750.00. As with All money orders I purchase from various stores I kept my receipts and counter receipts. The Original Purchase was made on 05/09/2017, I returned to the exact store location on 05/11/2017 and Angela Baker the Store Manager proceeded to tell me that my right of rescission is not applicable to return the product they sold me. Then proceeded to tell me that they will not cash them back in because they are considered temporary checks. Imagine that! The literally sold me something that they see no value in, or simply do not trust. They actually sold me " alleged Temporary Checks". I believe that they shouldnt offer the product if they are unwilling to honor the product. It is certainly a Buyer Beware situation.

I satisfied their service and quality. Once I asked one of man about beef, and he answered kindly and told me which I should purchase. Cashers never act as rude behaviour. When I show up a casher, all time theyll response like"How are you?" with their lovely smile. Ive never been upset with their behaviour and attitude, even I am Asian and do not speak fluently... I guess that these people who rated as one had some problems with their behaviour to the cushers... However there is one critical problem. "Price" Everything sold is slightly expensive if I compared with others grocery stores. Its located closed to ASU and too convenient for me, so Ill keep to be one customer of Safeway.

I work nearby so I come here at least once a week. Never have I seen this store adequately staffed for the number of guests they have at a given time. I often get asked where things are because people seem to think Im the only employee not hiding behind a counter somewhere based on my attire, but dont let that make you think theyre helping people through lines quickly, because thats rarely true. I have never understood why people like Safeway. Higher prices, lesser service. Do yourself a favor and go down the street to Frys.

This place literally sucks! Iv been in the neighborhood for more than 3 years and my impression of this store is that it is a spoiled-college-kid magnet. Dont get surprised if you come across ignorant kids when you shop here. The worst part is that this have had a negative impact on how the staff behave. Most staff and cashiers are rude. This place does NOT worth the trouble to shop at. I prefer to ride some extra miles for a more convenient store. You have to respect the costumer, that is the rule of survival.
