So my title pretty much sums this location up. This is the worst RC Hobby story in the Valley (includes its sister store on Northern). I can only speak for their RC airplane and helicopter stuff, but I can pretty much find any part or product that Hobby Bench sells for a cheaper price at either Franks Hobby House in Phoenix or Viper Hobbies in Mesa. I dont understand why Hobby Bench up charges all of their stuff by so much, or why they think they can. But it by itself keeps me away. Not only that, but their service sucks! They wont help you with repairs or tuning or trimming, all they do is sell you items from their horribly priced inventory. I went over to Franks Hobby House in Phoenix and they have this one employee who is really helicopter savvy and happens to fly a bunch of his own models. He not only adjusted everything on my helicopter and centered my blades, but he also didnt even hesitate to go out front and fly it to make sure that it was all trimmed out correctly. I have received the same service from Viper Hobbies in Mesa, another great location for RC enthusiasts. Those guys know A TON of stuff and arent afraid to help you with whatever you need. Not to mention the fact that their prices a way more competitive than the Hobby Bench as well. I went to Hobby Bench with my broken Blade SR to try and get help, and the guy wouldnt even let me try and install his overpriced Swash Plate he had just sold me as I wasnt allowed to work on stuff in his store, and he wasnt about to help me himself. As far as the return policy goes though, all hobby shops only allow returns for exchanges or store credit, but I know for a fact that Franks Hobby House will take care of customers if the customer says they sold them a faulty item even if theyve used it. Not the case with any Hobby Bench as Ive seen in other reviews too.

Im new to r/c... But Im an engineer and general tech enthusiast. Ive gone from newbie to "go to guy" in a number of different hobbies. I welcome new comers with open arms and an enthusiasm to feed them and the sport or hobby, etc. I also believe in taking care of customers, especially new ones. Unfortunately, I didnt get any of that today. I was left in the cold as the man behind the counter talked down to another customer who was trying to get the right part. Blaming the customer off handedly. When he then nearly stumbled on me, I clearly stated that this was new to me and I had a few questions. I dont speak the language yet. I was looking for tires. He acted rushed, though no one else was around. I felt belittled and then explained that Im building this from scratch with a 3d printer and received "cant you just print the tires?" With a smirk. Why yes, I could, Im choosing not to go with flexible filament... Just offer help to a newbie. Im excited about r/c. I will not, however, make Hobby Bench my hometown shop. Complete turn off as a new customer and new hobbyist. The button below says "DONE". I think that is appropriate for me and this store.

As a business owner I experience some of the worst customer service today February 14th 2017. I was made to feel like I was annoying the personnel today. I was also left standing there for over 15 min before I asked the guy by the planes for help and I couldnt believe he let me stand there while he was talking to another employee. I thought it was a customer he was talking to. I had $250 on the counter to spend on a new body, and RC Car and I decided to tell the lady at the register I changed my mind. Cant remember the last time Ive done that, cant remember the last time Ive done that. I was also told I was being picky. Essentially they offered no real help In dealing with my current vehicle and seemed to want to get rid of me. Then the oldest gentleman was using foul language, the way the Sections were set up you wouldnt be able to tell if a kid was 5 feet from you around a corner. PLEASE, go here if you want to regret spending your money and exposing your kids to the poorest service in town. I drove all the home to surprise with nothing thats pretty bad!

Unfortunately I may have made the biggest mistake in modeling. Buyer beware the picture does not always show what you are really purchasing. I wanted an anatomically accurate skeleton model for studying so I bought the lindberg science kit thinking I was going to get what I saw on the box, not only that it cost me almost $40.00 just to find out I could get the same model online for $12.00 Anyways the money isnt the issue, the issue is I bought this thinking I was going to get a quality model and I didnt, I thought maybe if I put it together it will look like the picture and it doesnt, it looks like a cheap toy youd buy from a Halloween shop. I recommend if you buy a model, ask them to open it in front of you and compare pieces so you can see what you are getting. Unfortunately I started putting the dang thing together so I wont be getting my money back. I dont think Ill be shopping there again for awhile.

Spent over 800.00 at Christmas and have shopped for over 30 years. I will never ever spend another dime in this store and urge all others to stay away. Everything we got here broke within days went back with one item they would not replace it they said they would order parts in but we would have to fix ix on are own and would have to pay for the parts also did not even have it for 24 hrs. I went back with a second item to see if they would just show me or help me put a piece back together on a train. I was told in a very nasty attitude that we do not touch anything the owner said we are not to touch anything. I said I just would like for someone to talk me threw it they said no. I will never spend another dime have and if you are smart you will not either. Its just about money and screw the customer.

Extremely poor customer service. I experienced a bad attitude on the phone and in person at this store. Maybe try not to act like youre doing the customer a big favor by DOING YOUR JOB. Also, youre 45 and working retail, you have no room to act like youre better than everyone else, especially your customers. Have the old ladies at the counter and the middle-age neckbeards in back improve their attitude and customer service skills immensely, or prepare to be put out of business like every other brick and mortar store that refuses to learn that the only thing keeping them from losing their business to Amazon is the experience of coming to see the products in person and being able to interact with decent human beings, of which this store employs zero.

Imagine your 11 year old son opened a $500.00 RC car for Christmas , and there was no battery or charger in the box. The sales man behind the counter said "it is ready to run", after asking him if anything els was needed. I would have gladly paid for any extras needed to operate the toy! Instead my son cried Christmas morning. After speaking with the manager all he could offer is a simple "sorry". I think Ill stick with Amazon at least they let you know automatically what els is needed with your purchase. We live in Tonopa and I drive a 350 super duty diesel, so its no small trip back to the store for corrections. I believe that in this day and age any business has one shot to win me over, so sorry Hobby Bench failed to do so.
