I have always recommended it but now more than ever...the staff always pleasant helpful and smart now topped that with honesty yep we expect it but how many times we encountered it sadly truly very seldom but yeah exists here! another pleasant add on to this helpful venue towards your health, a peaceful confident safe environment that truly takes care of their customers and they even will find a way to call you if you forget lets say your wallet? Thank you Rowen keep on that karma..so thankful I had lunch there..we are many happy thankful customers that you are all here ! They even have a gentleman to keep you safe when parking your car..I am bad at names but never encountered a bad moment and everyone is entitled to at least a forgivable one you guys shine all the way All the time! As an African American vegetarian for over 20 years, to me this establishment is no different at treating AA than the Jim Crow south. You would think that the Buddhist nature wouldnt warrant following a black medical professional thru the store to see if he is stealing (yep twiice while i was in scrubs) or blatant preferential treatment to whites. This is the south, I get it and unfortunately I have accepted the cultural racial sickness that exist. However, seeing it in an environment that I usually would call a safe haven from such ills, is disgusting and a betrayal of the community that they cater to. If youre a minority go the extra mile to WF or TJ and save yourself the time travel to the Jim Crow era.

Awesome place! Love the restaurant and the store. Lovely employees with tons of positive energy! Fair-trade retail. Organic, vegetarian (and sometimes, vegan) dining options. Wednesdays Mac and Cheese will leave you with a new-found love for the "day before Thursday". If youve never experienced The Golden Temple, youre missing out. Also, stay away from the sofa in the restaurant if you dont want to fall asleep...it has that effect. Tranquil, yet full of life. Take a thought-provoking, nearly mesmerizing walk through the retail aisles... you wont regret the journey.

Lunch served up quickly, and the food is legit. Usually, they have two different soup of the day specials to choose from each day, and they always go great along side a Vegan grill cheese sandwich. They have no problem customizing your order for you - Which is pretty key when looking for Vegan options. I believe they have a student discount if you show the cashier your Student ID but Im not 100% positive.

One of the employees accused my son of breaking a bongo drumstick. He did not break and she did not even find the stick. He found the Ball of the end of one of the drumsticks in the floor and was playing with it. I am a regular customer and one of the ladies that worked there was so rude. She kept asking every five seconds if I needed help. I will never shop there again. I will be speaking with management.

Golden Temple is a staple of vegetarian cuisine in Birmingham. Having been open for almost 50 years, its a great spot for lunch any day but Sunday (the cafe is closed), and theyve got an eclectic store, as well. Every menu item is either vegan or can be made vegan, and they have a different special every day. I just wish they were open for brunch and/or dinner!

Super friendly staff! I needed a place to set up and work on my laptop remotely from my office while visiting Birmingham. They were more than happy to give me the free wifi password. Internet speed was very adequate for free = 13 Mbps Down / 1 Mbps UP .. Plenty of seating so you dont feel intrusive to those who are eating.

I cant believe you actually charge people $10.95 for what is expected to be a nice healthy salad but is actually an old wilted brown lettuce salad. Shame on you for advertising your food as healthy. No one wants to eat that and if I had seen it before I left, I wouldve asked for my money back.

The staff are very friendly and helpful. It smells amazing in the store, thats the first thing I noticed. They have so many herbs it blew me away. The clothes and purses are beautiful. So many great things at this store, Im afraid Ill have to stay away until I get a job, haha.

Out of all the golden temples, this one wins. For all you meat loving meat eaters out there, dont be afraid to try a vegan restaurant. You might learn something about yourself! Golden Temple Birmingham, AL combines vegetables in ways meat eaters could not create.
