I have always enjoyed Dbar (great food and awesome atmosphere) but after my last experience I will never return and spend a dime in that restaurant. Dont get me wrong but the food is really good. When walking in the door we were greeted by a host that said "How many?" I responded saying 2. She then proceeded to say let me find out where we can sit you. I looked around and saw many open tables (it was around 8:30 on a Sunday Night). I then figured out what the problem was (My partner has a service animal). She then said I need to get my manager. She walked in the back and came back with the manager. The manager (ADRIENNE CHAVEZ) proceed to ask for papers for our service animal (Per ADA :by law a Businesses may ask if an animal is a service animal or ask what tasks the animal has been trained to perform, but cannot require special ID cards for the animal or ask about the persons disability). My partner explained to her that you can not ask for special id or papers on the dog. He stated you are only allowed to ask the service and if my dog is a service animal. She keep going on and on explaining why our Service dog wasnt allowed into DBar. I was beyond pissed she made us feel like we were an issue and that the money we were going to spend didnt matter. We have been to DBar two times before this incident and had no issue. I will never support a business that treats people with seen or unseen disabilities with such disrespect. Per ADA requirements: Businesses that serve the public must allow people with disabilities to enter with their service animal. Businesses may ask if an animal is a service animal or ask what tasks the animal has been trained to perform, but cannot require special ID cards for the animal or ask about the persons disability. People with disabilities who use service animals cannot be charged extra fees, isolated from other patrons, or treated less favorably than other patrons. However, if a business such as a hotel normally charges guests for damage that they cause, a customer with a disability may be charged for damage caused by his or her service animal. A person with a disability cannot be asked to remove his service animal from the premises unless: (1) the animal is out of control and the animals owner does not take effective action to control it (for example, a dog that barks repeatedly during a movie) or (2) the animal poses a direct threat to the health or safety of others. In these cases, the business should give the person with the disability the option to obtain goods and services without having the animal on the premises. Businesses that sell or prepare food must allow service animals in public areas even if state or local health codes prohibit animals on the premises. A business is not required to provide care or food for a service animal or provide a special location for it to relieve itself. Allergies and fear of animals are generally not valid reasons for denying access or refusing service to people with service animals. Violators of the ADA can be required to pay money damages and penalties.

The experience I had here was not terrible, but pretty bad. We went for a friends birthday where I was told that there would be plenty of seating since they dont allow reservations. Um, no. We scrunched 6 people into a two person table, and not one waiter came to help us for I would say 20 minutes. Thoroughly embarassed, I asked one of the girls for menus, and she begrudgingly handed us menus before rolling her eyes. Then came the worst service ever. Every beverage, including just a glass of wine, took at least 30 minutes to come out. But of course, this was not before we saw the waitress whisper to the big guy working there to come fiercly check our i.ds---really nice, I supposed since it was a 24th birthday, but GO IN THE KITCHEN if you are talking about your customers!!! One girl ordered when we first sat down and had not received her order by the time we were ready to leave (2 hours to the second later). As we were now leaving, she asked the waitress to just forget about it since it was 2 hours later and getting late, but instead the head chef stormed out and slammed it on her table and said to her i just spent 40 minutes working on this, so youll eat it"....um right---at least he could get his facts straight, it was two hours. So she sat there and ate it --which I thought was way too nice. Of course they never gave us a bill (1/2 hour after we were all just sitting there), so I had to again run down the waitress who was just hanging out by the cash register to take the money. Although the head chef did come out with bonbons for us as an apology, I will not be returning to this restaurant again that is the most poorly managed, sloooweeest and most cramped restaurant in denver, that has the most inept waiting staff Ive ever seen. And as a sidenote--the desserts were indeed great, but the kobe sliders were as soggy as a sponge---and everyone who ate it, later got sick. very nice.

We showed up at D Bar on a Saturday night around 10:00 to meet up with some friends who were there for a birthday party. There was a wait and the hostess asked if we would like to be put on the list for a seat. I politely told her that we were just there to meet up with some friends who were already here for a quick beer. She rolled her eyes at me and walked away like we were an inconvenience. Granted the place was packed considering it is TINY and seats around 25 people Id say. We stood around (because there was nowhere to sit) for 10-15 minutes and recieved NO service, only evil glares from the employees INCLUDING the owner. My friends had good things to say about the quality of the desserts but said it was overpriced for the portions they got and the wait time was rediculous. We eventually had to ask for our beers and once again the server rolled her eyes and made us feel unwelcome. We quickly drank our 1 beer that took 20 mins to get because we obviously got the impression that we were not wanted there if we werent going to sit down and order food. While we were quickly drinking our beers the owner came over to the rude waitress and asked "What is going on with these people standing at the bar?!" The waitress said to him " I know, theyre leaving right now. Sorry." RIGHT IN FRONT OF US TO WHERE WE COULD HEAR THEM. Yes, we left...and will not return due to the incredibly small atmosphere and incredibly rude service. I understand that this is not your typical BAR but several of the female employees AND the owner did not do a very good job of providing quality service to paying customers. Even if we didnt want to sit down and order food it is still your JOB to put a smile on and be polite. Dislike!

I laugh at most of these reviews raving about the desserts here. I have eaten there and know someone who worked there for a bit. They are known for using boxed cake mix and bagged powdered Creme Brulee that is merely add water to a mix and stir Creme Brulee. EVERYONE can make their food at home, you probably just dont know how to make it so pretty. They also use bottled clear caramel, canned fruit, pre-made tart shells, purchased truffles, pre-made flowers and deco, bottled key lime juice, Gold Medal Flour boxed cake mix (dont believe me, look into the kitchen on top of the freezer space they keep the cake mix. Ask for a kitchen tour, I bet they wont give it to you without hiding something first.) The chocolate cake is the only cake that is made in house because Keegan has not figured out how to altitude adjust in Denver on the other cakes. The Master Baker does not know how to altitude adjust????? The owners are frauds and laugh openly at how "stupid" their diners are for not knowing better that they over charge you for something you can do at home and you dont even know isnt scratch made. Keegans wife Lisa thinks you are all stupid when you say the desserts are good and Keegan laughs even more at that. Do you really want to go somewhere where the food is made out of a box and the owners laugh at you for not knowing that? I mean, really? Make up your mind after reading this review, and know there are other options in town that are better and scratch baked. Dont be fooled, go somewhere else!
