Me and my family have shopped at this Gander Mountain for a long time. Recently, my fiance and myself went to Gander Mountain so he could purchase a crossbow. It was the weekend after Christmas so the store was moderately busy. The store has been renovated/updated recently which left the archery shop as a one counter-one employee area. We waited for some time behind a customer who was having a bow set up before deciding to go to the gun counter so we could simply pay for the crossbow we had picked out. The gun counter was busy. We waited quite a bit until a gun customer was checking out before being acknowledged by employee Bob who asked us if we had a number (for being waited on). We did not and said we just wanted to check out. Bob agreed to help us after he checked out his first customer. During our transaction, Bob asked if we had picked out a model from the floor. We said we had. He inquired something about a box. I then had to say if there was a model in the back of the store in a box we would want that instead of the floor model. Bob did get a crossbow from the back that was in a box. We asked if we had to put the crossbow together ourselves and he said we would. He said someone at the store could do it too. He then said the employee who could help us set the bow up was on lunch break (that employee was actually still helping someone at the archery counter). Bob said we could come back later and someone could help. I asked Bob again at the end of the transaction if someone would help us set up the crossbow. He said the employee who does this was not working today and we could come back tomorrow to have it done. We were on our way to the front of the store when we ran into the employee who was behind the archery counter. I asked him if he could help us put the crossbow together. He agreed to help and then said that Bob just wanted to ring us up so he could get the commission on the bow. He said that all employees had been trained six months ago on how to put the crossbows together. This employee helped us put the crossbow together but did not know how to do it himself-it took over an hour and he was mostly confused as this wasnt a bow he had put together before. We then tried the crossbow in the "range" and our crossbow bolt feathers broke on their equipment. For the amount of our purchase we should have walked out of the store and spent our money elsewhere. The employees were not helpful and did know the product they were selling.

Okay I have to start out positive because it truly was a great start I was really excited I had purchased a new fire arm and it went just as expected a knowledgeable salesman helped me pick out the perfect fit for my needs. Even up sold me into purchasing the extended warranty. I spent the next 48 hour being excited until I went back to the store to pick it up. :( That when the excitement went away On first approach their were four guys at the counter Two with Customers Two without The two without looked up and walked away, about a 1 minutes later one of the guys acknowledged me and let me know that two guys had gone to the back would be right back....................20 minutes later no one still hadnt come back to me crazy as the store was not busy it was a Monday night and really quite about 25 minutes after my arrival a guy final came up and he looked aggravate asked me how he could help I told him I was picking up my new gun and Mr personality looked almost annoyed that he was helping he went to the back and retrieved it came back out front and further down the counter without saying a word nothing then looked up at me ask me for my fishing license being that I just moved and my address is incorrect so no problem he walked away again a couple of minutes later lets me know that he was yet waiting for another guy to double check everything so ok another few minutes go by until that guy shows up and me a paper to sign about a law about loaded guns and kids hands me my gun and license and thats it. Not even a review of contents nothing very robotic is the feeling I left with. Im gonna have to think twice now before I have to revisit Gander again I guess its a good thing bass pro is right down the street

Beware, they do not want to honor rewards certificates or watch when you check out. They are putting the discount signs on every rack, even if you think it will be discounted at the register they will come up with a reason it is not what the sign advertises. We went to the store and forgot our rewards coupon so went home to get it. Once checking out they would not accept the certificate. The young man who was very nice called the gander mtn mc. He gave me the phone and said they could over ride it due to the process change. Which they also explained to the sales clerk. The manager was called up and was told this same information, he said no he could not over ride it and we basically were accused of already using the certificate. He was very rude, although I was arguementive and we went home to get it, i was accused of being rude by the manager. They did an over ride on the shoes that were not showing up on sale. So, the no over ride story was a farce. The Manager said he would loose his job if he honored our reward certificate. After leaving the store without using the rewards, fuming a bit we called cc ourselves. They did not find the rewards certificate was used. They also said the store should have honored it. Kudos for the credit card company who honored the certificate.

Love this place...it made all of our little girls Disney dreams come true. Our little one loves the Disney princesses and when BRAVE came out she wanted a bow & arrow. Oh boy! What should Mom & Dad do? We checked the laws in WI and found out it was safe to shoot a bow & arrow on your property as long as it wasnt shot towards your neighbors property. Im not a lawyer but Im pretty sure if we shoot an arrow its going towards my neighbors land. Luckily Gander has a court to shoot arrows on. We even got our first 30 days free with our purchase. Score a bullseye for me. The staff was very nice and even adjusted the tension for my little girls arm strength. I must admit I did a little shooting to and we had a great time as a family. One day someone left a deer poster behind and we had fun shooting at it. Besides the archery deferment this store has everything from clothes to fishing equipment. We even jumped on there sale to buy one boating tube and get a second one free. We totally scored and even got two tow ropes and two electric air pumps. This place is huge and it is a must for anyone in Wisconsin. If youre in the great North than you are part of nature and Gander has all your needs.
