If you are looking for great customer service, great bicycles, including helmets, gloves, safety lights, bicycle locks, etc., Montlake Bicycle Shop is the establishment for you. The owner, Neil, is a bicycle riding, purchasing, and maintenance expert. He will amiably, patiently answer any question you have, and guide you in the right direction for a bicycle and riding paraphernalia, customized just for you. The bicycles and products are all clearly high quality and very attractive. This shop will help anyone, men and women, looking for excellent bicycles and products. Also, the shop is well-organized, making it easy to see all its products and walk through it.

Rented bikes on a Sunday to ride the town. Their location was great and we were able to get to everywhere and back on various bike friendly roads and trails. The bikes we rented were like new, actually one was brand new. The bikes came with a pump, tool kit, and spare tubes. (Thankfully we did not need them) Additionally their prices were the best around and the day fee including a lock and helmet were cheaper than renting elsewhere for a few hours. Then to top it off since we couldnt return in time 4pm on a Sunday the owner arranged for us to drop off the bikes @ his house! Talk about going the extra mile! Thanks for a great day of riding!

Long wait for help, expensive mtb rentals, indifferent staff. Ended up breaking a small part on my rental bike (rear derailleur hanger) and the guy checking me back in was more concerned about the bike and didnt even ask if I sustained any injuries in the crash. The bikes were top notch, although I had to tighten the back wheel almost immediately after I started riding and the hydraulic brake system was not functioning normally which almost led to several crashes. Upon reporting this to the shop they gave me a funny look and did not offer a discount or coupon for my next time (although Ill probably not be going back anyway).

Ive had my bike worked on regularly at this shop. The turnaround time is fantastic compared to other shops Ive visited. The sales reps are very helpful and knowledgable about bikes. The mechanics are great with calling me to discuss potential options for the work that is outside of the original quote. My bill is usually lower than the original quote I get when I drop my bike off too. The folks at this shop seem to really want to help people rather than sell you more stuff. Ive had some bad experiences at some other local shops. I couldnt recommend Montlake enough!

My wife and I visited the store recently. Not only did we have a bad experience but also witnessed others treated rather rudely. There was a very long wait and one of the sales girls went up straight to a guy standing way behind us in the line and started helping/flirting with him! After a 15 minute wait, we just walked out and ended up getting our rental at recycledcycles at a way better price and much more friendly and proactive staff.

I brought my Fulcrums in to have tubeless tires mounted and after I mentioned that I already have my own tires, the price to have them mounted went up to $75 for each tire. Ive since found a place to mount them for ~$20. I understand supporting your local bike shops, but not when they gouge you on the service if you dont bundle product purchases from them also. I wont be going back to get any more estimates.

I use the shop for most of the maintenance I dont have the tools for. They do an excellent job and are good at suggesting lower cost alternatives for various parts and services. I appreciate this approach. During the summer months they can be very busy. I just lock up my bike and go across the street for a coffee and watch for the crowd to subside.

Neil and the gang are so helpful, thoughtful and accommodating! I rented two different folding bikes, a Dahon and a Brompton. The staff was knowledgeable and enthusiastic. Neil spent lots of time with me to get me comfortable with both brands. The rates were very reasonable and I will definitely go back to them next time I am in Seattle.

Comiing into Montlake Bicycle I was greated by a very friendly sales person. They quickly helped me check in my bike for its yearly service and told me that they would have it out the next day! When I picked it up early the next day it not only looked new again but performed better than I ever remember. Thanks Montlake

I really want this place to be good. They sell great bikes, theyre close to my home, but the service, in my experience, was poor. If you want to spend a lot to have some people that really care about bikes work on yours, this is the place, just dont expect them to do a particularly thorough job.

I really like this shop. I got great customer service.even though they where busy. Not only did I get my bike serviced quickly, for a very reasonable price, I bought a new one that I love. Went to several other shops before I found this one, and I have to say I sure am glad i did.

Great experience whenever I go in. Most recently my bike got hit by a car, and I needed my bike checked out after the collision. They were very friendly/helpful and did a thorough checkup with some small adjustments and made sure I was good to get back out and ride.

Indifferent owner. Does not care about market prices, so it is expensive here. Better off purchasing online. Same equipment way, way lower pricing. 30% premium to shop here. Do your homework.
