HORRIBLE, RUDE EMPLOYEE with a beard, black rimmed glasses and POOR ATTITUDE. I went in to buy POP batman series figure $8.95, along with the vintage bat-mobile set $27.95 and asked for help---I was RUDELY told there was no stock, which I took for just that-there was no stock-I was upset how this man spoke to me though. I left and went to find my husband who had found what he was looking for. We PURCHASED a brand new graphic comic book, we paid and were leaving the store the cheerful, nice security guard wishing us a good night and us saying the same. The graphic novel had not been de-alarmed and the beeper went off. We immediately showed the receipt and the security guard checked and apologized for the store error. Then upon that-the RUDE, HORRIBLE RACIST MAN, came and said NO open your purse to me. My purse is a $800 designer handbag. I looked at him aghast. As my husband was unaware this man was rude to me prior, he just said okay man we paid for this its setting off the alarm. The man went on to rudely speak to my husband, so I said no its okay, here--and swiped my expensive handbag through the alarm with NO ALARM going off. Then I told the man to do his job and check the book please. He GRABBED the book from my husband and walked away with it saying oh this is policy-the receipt in it. He deactivated the security tag and then WHEN HE SAW THE RECIEPT IN THE BOOK WE HAD JUST BOUGHT -said "oh ok". Completely UNCALLED FOR AND RUDE. I will NEVER PURCHASE FROM THIS BARNES AND NOBLES EVER AGAIN. I was treated, rudely, and accosted by this HORRIBLE RUDE MAN. He did NOT APOLOGIZE OR CORRECT HIS BEHAVIOR AT ALL. Then, after, he MOCKED my husband and said this was the process and said "do alarms go off at every store you go to?".

Wife and I stopped on our way home. 20 mins to closing. I grabbed my book, PAID and was about to walk out when the security alarm went off. The cashier didnt deactivate the sensor. I had walked halfway through and my wife was still in the store (hadnt crossed the sensor). I stepped back and the security guard came over. I demonstrated that the book was not deactivated by making the alarm go off again. At this point this employee with long hair, black frame glasses, a beard and a backwards golf cap, ran up and demanded my wife open her purse. He didnt not introduce himself as an employee or ask politely, he demanded. I was holding the damn book in my hand with the receipt as a bookmark. My wife refused to open to bag as she should. We swung the purse through the sensors and nothing went off. He then grabbed the book out of my hands and went to deactivate it. All the while telling me how its the policy. This is how they treat paying customers. With the economic times as they are and the fact that every form of technology out there is ready to wipe out what little business Barnes and noble has, why arent they taking a more customer friendly approach? Teach your employees how to speak to paying customers. Even after all this and he realized we were actual paying customers this guy still kept berating us about the policy and actually ridiculing us as we walked out the door. Never again will I buy there.

We were at the store to buy a 2013 calendar, on the clearance table, I saw a bunch of rectangle plates with a 50% off sticker on each one of them so I took one. When my wife paid for those things, the girl at the counter didnt give us 50% off for the plate, I told her it should be with that sticker, she tried to peel it (like we put it on for cheating) then called the manager and told us we should go over to "nook" counter to talk with her manager. The female manager adjusted the price but then told us somebody might have put that sticker on (if not she wanted to mention we did that), my wife told her that there was a whole bunch out there with this sticker on and asked her just come out to check... Well to make the long story short, there are two problems with those ladies: 1. They couldnt recognize what price labels/stickers of the store they are working at (try to peel it) 2. What they said to us was so rude and so stupid, even it could be happened before that somebody did something like that to cheat for a few bucks, they should not have said that to the customers if not they have any solid evidences for their suspicion about the cheating; if so, then call the police, that is not their job either On the way out, we saw she came out and took those plates then took off all the stickers It might be the last time I would buy something from this B&N store VN

On the good side this place has a decent cafe with not just dessert options but plenty of lunch options as well. As usual they serve Starbucks Coffee so it is up to you how you feel about that. Its also a decent place to kill an hour or so with plenty of books and magazines. On the downside outside of the cafe there are very few places to sit. And also for all of the techies out there you may wonder if there is still a need for such a large bookstore when there are ebooks available for download. They do however have a large area dedicated to th Nook which is their eReader device.

Great selection and solid staff. Lines in the cafe can get pretty long but the team is friendly. Its not just books and coffee these days. They also carry a small selection of records, collectable toys and games. This location has two stories. Its showing it wear in places but overall clean. Staff is great about special orders. If you cant find it they will order it for shipping to you or store. The day I was in they had artists for the collectable POP figures with 4 artists present and signing the characters they made.

Ive been to this location a few times and find it uncomfortable, like it isnt laid out well or something...the kids area feels more maze-like and the staff I have interacted with hasnt been helpful or particularly friendly. Other locations, for example West Seattle, 86tj street in Manhattan, Union Square (NYC), and Downtown Brooklyn all are much more kind and welcoming. Ill go back sometime as I do live nearby but I will absolutely make a point to shop at smaller local shops when I need something. I wish it were more friendly.

I was told that a child below 18 y/o has to have a parent inside the store. This is suppose to be a policy they will tell a child who is percieved as unaccompanied - although not all children and teens are picked to be told this. And no such policy is posted anywhere in the store. So be adviced...heavens forbid your 16 or 17 year old should walk in to buy a book without you going in with them or being inside the bookstore.

This is a great bookstore, but the only issue I had was trying to find the right section for the book I was looking for. Before there use to be a kiosk to look up a particular book and it will tell you which location to find it, but they have been removed. At least the staff know the books by name and are very familiar with which section to find it in.
