After purchasing a vehicle from Independence Auto I feel trapped in a nightmare. The sales rep named Christian told me specifically all cars under-go routine maintenance and inspection while on the lot. That was a lie. After purchasing the vehicle I took the car to my mechanic and they found over 7000 dollars’ worth of needed repairs. Including three major leaks, various cracks, rear bumper lights and rear windshield wiper did not work. My mechanic went as for to say they went out of their way to conceal damage to the car and or they simply never even inspected the car in the first place. After calling the manager Gary numerous times for 5 days without even a call back I went and left a negative review on Google + and I filed a report with the better business bureau as is my right as a consumer. The next day I get call from a furious Manager demanding I take the review down. He insisted he would not make any changes to my car unless I took the review down. Even though basic things such as the windshield wiper and tail lights should work on a car before it’s sold. Blackmailing me to take a review down in order to make the repairs was not what I would call good customer service. Gary went as far to tell me I was being obsessive by calling him numerous times – even though he never returned my calls. So I take the review down and they agree to make some repairs to the car – but they make it a point not to tell me what repairs they will be making. Gary went as far to tell me even though he works for a car dealership, he in fact knows very little about cars so he wouldn’t be able to tell me what work needs to be done even though I had print out from my mechanic specifically outlining the serious safety issues needed to done with the car. God forbid he tell me we will deal with the safety issues outlined by your mechanic, instead I was given a diatribe on how mechanics are rip offs and how my mechanic I trust is ripping me off. 3 and half weeks later I get the car back with a laundry list of repairs they said they made…only to return it to my mechanic and for him to tell me …you guessed it….half the repairs the said they did were not done at all. Less than a week later the car won’t even start. I’ve owned the car for five weeks – three and half weeks in the shop – one week out and now back to the shop. The disregard for what was done wrong and their lack of desire to make it right is what alarmed me the most. During the course of numerous conversations I was made to feel I was a criminal for even bringing up the fact my car had major issues at the time of the purchase. At one point they had the car taken to another shop in an attempt to fix a mechanical wiring problem….a problem they should have taken care of before anyone purchased the vehicle off their lot. And in the end it cost me more time and money. The only time they responded to any of my complaints was to tell me it wasn’t really their problem but they would take a look. Well it took them almost a month to take a look and the car still has major issues. Lastly the communication at this place is awful at best. I was led to believe the service manager, sales people and the sales manager don’t have any communication. I was constantly told …well I haven’t talked to him yet or he has the next two days off. If they were trying to convey to me that they don’t talk to anyone even within their own company they did a great job. After the initial phone call in which the manager told me to take the review down not once did he ever call me back or communicate with me. Numerous times I was told the car would be ready the following day and it wasn’t. I could go on but for the sake of my sanity I will stop. I will never forget getting laughed at by the manager for suggesting they make the situation right. Do not buy a car from Independence auto.

I would not recommend anyone going to this dealership. I bought a truck from these guys last month and it is already in the shop with engine problems I dont believe this place checks vehicles at all I think they truly only care about making a sales commission. on top of the truck breaking down on me the ac is out a reverse light was out when I got there to look at the truck andthe salesman broke my lightswitch handle off in the parking lot. the warranty that comes with these vehicles is garbage. they shouldnt waste ink and paper printing these things because they cover absolutely nothing. the salesman will play up the warranty like its made of gold. but its worth less than used toilet paper its a scam. I get home from the shop today after realizing the warranty will not cover whats broken on my truck and call the dealership to talk to them in hopes that they would work with me on getting the vehicle fixed since I just bought it from them last month and I was hoping to purchase a better warranty because t this point im wondering what else I will find out is wrong with my truck. I talked to gary and I was astonished by the terrible customer service I got from him. I explained my situation to him and asked about extended warranties and it was like pulling teeth to get any information from him on what kind of warranties were offered. I also told him how dissatisfied I was with my experience and I believe that they should have some sort of responsibility for selling me a lemon of a vehicle. he then responds saying whatever and I should have bought a brand new vehicle I fi expected to get a vehicle with no problems. I said wow so your answer to an unsatisfied customer is whatever you shouldnt have came here. he says im just mad because my vehicle is broken down. of course i am mad my vehicle is broken down i just bought it last month. all this pace cares about is taking your money and moving their crap vehicles off the lot the warranty is a scam they play up to you during the purchase process to make you feel comfortable. it is crap this dealership is crap GARY is crap and should be put out of business. I will be contacting the Better Business Bureau and complaining about this company and Gary in particular. Please believe these reviews. I didnt and now im stuck with a huge repair bill. i wish i would have listened to all the other unhappy customers before me. DO NOT GO TO INDEPENDENCE AUTO CENTER!!!! this place does not even deserve the one star i was forced to give for a rating.

(Just kidding on the other review, I wanted Taylor to get his $50 for a positive review!) Lets start with the good...The original car sales man I had was great (Taylor). Laid back, nice, young and understood that I was going to pretty much stick to my budget and not go above. The car I purchased needed the DVD player fixed, and the rubbing sound addressed (wheel alignment or tire balance, simple, right?) Well, first off, they NEVER contacted me about a schedules service visit. I had to HOUND them. The man with the Hispanic accent (Carlos, I believe) answered and was less than professional. I asked to speak with a manager, and he said "Is there anything I can help you with, he is in a meeting" I said "If there were something YOU could help me with, Id be asking you now, wouldnt I?" It was only then I got transferred to DeeJay. Who reassured me that it was a paperwork error and it had gotten "lost". Alright, well fix it. He told me that if I dont hear back from the service department by 1 pm, to give them a call. First of all, service department goes to lunch from 1-2. Learned it the hard way because I never got a call... called the mail line, and good ol Carlos answered, and said they get back "maybe around 2" I said "Maybe? Or they do get back to work at 2?" TERRIBLE. Then FINALLY I get to talk to Sam, the one that runs the service department. What a joke she was. I could swear she sounded blonde. Super unprofessional. I even tried to kill them with kindness by not being rude (saving it for all of my online reviews). Dropped my car off on Monday, didnt get it back until Thursday. Did not receive ONE phone call from them, I called every time, and did a victory dance when they answered, because, well, good luck getting through. The service work was sub-par, by car was dirty when I got it back. Sam needs to get a clue, because her favorite phrase is "I dont know" and "Ill call you back", which that last one is a lie. I understand companies being busy, but incompetent staff is the problem here. I love my car, but I wish I didnt have to go through the drama I went through to get things handled. Not a good business at all. Maybe if management changed. One thing to be a used car sales place and want to make a sale, but another to be a sucky one. You can still provide decent service!
