I had just moved into the area and was looking for an archery shop to replace my bow string and cables. After reading online reviews and some of the archery forums I decided to give them an opportunity. I dont mind paying for quality service so I figured I would be better off with a dedicated archery establishment. When I arrived the staff was courteous and although small they seemed to have a nice selection of archery gear. I explained what I needed and they took my order and bow. The price was about $120 and they said they install a new peep sight and would not have any rotation issues, a new d-loop, and tie off my fall-away arrow rest in addition to replacing the string and cables. A few days later I was notified it was ready and picked it up. A couple of days later I had the opportunity to take my bow out shoot it for the first time after I picked it up. I ended up have 4 issues after everything was said and done. After 12 shots I noticed the d-loop was not tied tight enough on the bottom knot and I could slide it up and down...problem number 1. I could still shoot but all the other times I have had my bow done the person working on my bow would ensure there was no play and the d-loop would be just a tad wider then the arrow nock. The d-loop was so poorly done at Hoffman that when I would use my release to pull back I would get severe arrow pinch because the d-loop was sliding on the bottom. Problem number 2 was the d-loop actually broke on my mid pull. Needles to say I was not to happy. I then took some time to really look my bow over and I also noticed they didnt even tie the peep sight in and that was causing me to have to move it after every other shot....Problem number 3. The shop even explained I would never have too worry about their peep moving or rotating...well that proved to be false. With new string there is always some play at first but it was not installed correctly plain and simple. Problem number 4 was when I was shooting I noticed there was no knot tied on the cable end for the string connecting my fall-away rest to the cable. I had to take my bow to another local shop and when they looked the bow over they were surprised how sloppy the work was done and had to correct all the issues mentioned above. I can understand sometimes things happen but with 4 issues after a simple string and cable replacement I would not recommend them. They need to do a much better job with ensuring there quality assurance checks are in place before returning equipment. They also need to make sure individuals working on bows have the appropriate skill set as people like myself are paying money and entrusting their reputation matches their services.

Patient. I start off by saying that the employees at Hoffmans Archery are patient. I research and find something I like. I decide on that item. I run it by them. They either agree or suggest otherwise. I continue my research and decide Ive found something better. I change my mind again, we repeat the same process. I do this 5 or 6 times before ever making a purchase. Theyre patient with the customer. (Having said that, they are extremely busy with other customers and trying to run a business) But they are patient none the less. Patient, courteous and knowledgeable. I need that in a business. They have the best prices around. Ive driven all the way to Lancaster, PA to compare their prices and they cant be beat (my bow was $100 more in PA). They are knowledgeable and stand behind their product. They dont try to sell you what you dont need (even though I still try to buy it). Farron and his team being knowledgeable and professional as well as courteous are the best. I purchased a Mathews Creed Lost Camo (Limited Edition) Bow and when we went outside just to sight it in...I "Robinhooded" the first two arrows. Having done that, I know it was set up correctly and shoots straight, I just have to do MY PART....despite being an expensive way to learn of their expertise. At Hoffmans they treat you more like family than a customer. Thats a rare commodity in todays business world. We need to support our local businesses. Having said that, perhaps we should NOT purchase from BIG BOX vendors and then carry our purchases to our local vendors to obtain "personal & professional" service. It does a disservice to our local businesses who try hard to provide EXCEPTIONAL service and win business. I shoot my bow almost every day and I will ALWAYS take my business to Hoffmans Archery. Always. (P.S. - Ask about their incredible lay-a-way plan.)

I had THE BEST experience today at Hoffman archery! Im a teacher who has always wanted to learn to shoot a longbow, so I scheduled a lesson. Farron was an INCREDIBLE teacher. There was absolutely no pressure to buy anything.....he just wanted me to learn. The lesson is supposed to be 45 minutes, and he and his team spent THREE HOURS with me teaching me about longbows, recurves, bowstrings, proper technique, arrows...... Farris is a walking encyclopedia of knowledge and was positive and encouraging every step of the way! I had four vintage longbows someone had given me and he checked them all out for structural safety, strung them, explained why he was stringing them the way he was, and taught me how to care for them. I am BEYOND THRILLED to have two of them in working order and grateful for his advice on the other two so they dont cause a safety concern. I also got to try out a few recurves and fell in love with one that was VERY reasonably priced and perfect for my height and draw strength. I walked into the store with little experience and a host of questions and three hours later I had DRAMATICALLY improved form and precision and was nailing the target from three times further than I had been at home yesterday. I am confident, super informed, and had THE BEST day ever at Hoffman Archery. Even though I live a long ways away, I will be returning to Hoffman again and again for everything I need. Farron and his wonderful team turned me from an interested party into a full-blown archer in three hours. I had an absolute blast! If you want to really learn, this is the place.

This is a busy little store which offers everything you can think of in regards to Archery. The prices are competitive as is the quality of the products offered. However the first (and last) time I went there, the manager at that time was not so courteous or respectful despite that fact that one of the other store clerks was helping me. I went there to get a new sight mounted on my (as he put it, inferior) bow. While also mentioning to me several times that this was a retail store. He asked me why I had such a Cheap bow and where I purchased it. My reply was, "This was a gift from my Wife and its just what I needed to get the job done". What a complete lack of Customer Service skills this guy has. At the time this was my first setup and I didnt know too much about the sport. I can tell you that I have since grown to love it and have upgraded to a new 2013 bow ($$$$). I sure as heck didnt buy my new setup from this place and I will warn everyone I can to stay away from them. I should say that the store clerk that was helping me was quite kind, courteous and did good work.
