Last night our we had a late night trip to Wal-Mart and had some items to return. We were initially directed to the "Customer Service"/returns area, we were greeted with a woman(no name on her tag, it just said customer service on it)who was less than helpful or courteous -- she then told us that after waiting for her for about 5 minutes to grace us with her presence, and some back and forth Q&A on our return, leading us to believe she were going to help us there -- she(again, name unknown but she is unmistakable in appearance: short, medium sized, middle aged, and most signifying-has black hair with big gray strands in the front of her hair(skunk-like) -- but, she didnt help us there, after wasting our time in that area for almost 15 minutes, she said, youll need to go to register 12!!!! We then got in the LONG line of register 12 and waited for about 5 more minutes. As we finally got to the checkout, out of no where the skunk-haired customer service lady briskly begins to head toward our cashier and proceeds to whisper to her(right in front of us, RUDE!). We showed our receipt and then are told that she cant give us or money back nor a gift card! We then asked to see a manager, skunk-hair claims she is THE manager. WE knew better. So, being that our main return item was from electronics, we headed that way and shopped for what we needed. And lo and behold, we see THE real manager, Herman, a tall and well dressed man with a tag that properly notified who he was. We spoke to him, explained our situation and thank God for Herman, the real store manager, he radioed back to register 12 and said, "sending a return your way, take care of them with a gift card." The original woman(skunkish haired woman), was visibly upset at the fact that we, on our own, found the real store manager and had the situation corrected, she took it person as if the gift card monies came straight from her pocket or something. I am giving a top review only because of Herman. A huge thanks to Herman for turning a terrible experience into what should have been the original experience.

We live in Hollins. My husband and I used to come here to this Walmart at Valley view Blvd quite frequently. I wont come back though after what happened the other day. I can see what other people are talking about when they say this Walmart is disorganised with rude employees, etc etc, I experienced the same thing. I was back in the auto section and I was trying to find office supplies. I asked an employee if they could direct me to the office supplies. They said hold on a second and never came back even after a few minutes. Went looking for a manager to tell them about that employee because that made me mad. Guess what? Couldnt find one! The employees in auto / electronics depts did not know a thing. They were clueless. You ask them where is the manager/ who is the manager and they just look at you. Or they just say they dont know. They seem to hate their jobs!!!! The attitude you get in this store is enough to make you leave! No wonder they have a bad rep! At the customer service desk I was given attitude and told there was no manager available at the time to answer customer questions or complaints. Then they provided me with a generic 1-800 WALMART phone number. Pssh. This Walmart has lost any future business from us. I encourage every one to go else where. This place is absolutely terrible and some of the people pushing carts outside? guess what they were doing? Laughing and joking about smoking weed and some other nasty things regarding sex that customers dont need to hear! Maybe go over to the Clearbrook Walmart. I will go out of my way to not have to experience this kind of service / environment again!

I used to come to this Walmart on occasion but I wont come back anymore. On my most recent trip back to Roanoke I stopped here when I got to Valley View to pick up some things. I asked an employee, young black female, for help and she didnt want to be bothered. When I asked to speak to the manager she reluctantly said hold on a moment, and she would get them. I asked how long. She said not more than 5 minutes. Never saw that employees face again. They ran off and never came back. When I talked to customer service I asked them specifically " who is your manager here?" They said they werent sure the persons name, but they will get them for me. The impression I got was either the customer service employee I spoke to, older looking white woman, was new and did not know who the manager was. Or they do not care enough about their customers to familiarise themselves with the store and the management. Reading other reviews online, I have to say this is probably the worst Walmart Ive ever come across. About 5 -6 years ago they werent like this. Dont know whats happened to them here. Ive never been to a store where they didnt know one another. When I worked in customer service, we were a team. Thats what customer service is about. Being a team and working together to help the customer. All I can say is, this Walmart needs to hold themselves to a higher standard and shape up. Or else they will continue to lose customers.

I dont love this wal-mart as a whole. But, when my husband and son went out to purchase Legos Demotions at the mid-night release at Bonsack wal-mart. The electronic associate at Bonsack had no clue what they were asking for and walked off. After 15mins of waiting for him to come back, they left. The display box was set up on the floor, but no one bothered to fill it. My husband and son decided to ride out to Valleyview and see what they had. They get there and yet again another wal-mart didnt have the display filled. But, the difference between the Bonsack & Valleyview associate is, the Valleyview said wait here and Ill go get one from the back. He came back within 5mins with the game, rang them up and apologized for the wait. And, insured them that if they came back later in the day. That they would have all the extra sets for the game out and ready for sale (where they should have been in the first place). We showed up later that morning and the display hadnt been set up still. But, again another electronic associate at Valleyview was very helpful. Asked my son what extra sets he wanted and went to the back and found them. It took about 20mins, but the time waiting was well worth it. The associate got what we asked for and was very pleasant to deal with!

I go to this Walmart at Valley View for short visits. Its convenient but the employees are clueless and just... i dont even know how to describe them. Aug 23 2016 I witnessed an employee in the dairy section accusing another employee of being a fake employee! Haha It was really funny and just.. strange. They were both wearing walmart uniforms. The one doing the accusing was a black girl and the one being accused of being fake was a boy, also black. The girl was hollering “somebody needs to get over here and verify hes really an employee at this store!! ” The boy just kept saying she was “tripping ” She told him “I aint trip pin! i aint never seen you here at this store and Ive been working here for a long time! ” Finally I saw a white woman walk over wearing a white shirt, I assume was the manager. She told the girl to go away. I heard her talking to the young man saying “What made her accuse you of posing as an employee? ” So obviously he really was an employee. The white shirt woman said to continue working and then she just walked away. This just proves this is a madhouse. Haha In my opinion thats just what it is. Ive never seen such thing as an employee accusing another employee of something like that. Its just amazing what you can see at this Walmart.
