Had I read the reviews prior to my visit, I probably wouldnt have wasted the time. I came across this store on my way to H&M, drawn in by the WONDERFUL aromas wafting out of the door. It was a Wednesday evening so things were pretty quiet in the store. There were two very knowledgeable clerks who patiently asked all of my questions. I realized after the fact that I probably seemed more like a secret shopper with all the questions I asked so perhaps they were super nice for that reason. I hadnt walked in to buy anything nor did I have any money so their efforts to SELL-SELL-SELL didnt bother me. The young lady that worked there took the time to write down the teas Id sampled so I could purchase during another visit. The young man working was very laid back and didnt approach me about other products until I was taking photos of some of the teapots to show my mother later. I let them know I wasnt buying anything, thanked them for their assistance and that I would look around the store for a bit to see what else they had. I tried to go back Saturday to purchase something but had a horrible time finding decent parking so I didnt go. Perhaps the Saturday clerks wouldve been more like those mentioned in previous reviews. If you enjoy different teas and youre in the mall, its worth stopping by.

Love their selection of teas. Staff is usually very knowledgeable about the products and teas. Ive been in a few different locations and each time Ive felt everyone was professional and not too overbearing. However, when I was ready to purchase a specific tea and had the money it seemed hard to get any of the staffs attention. The store was busy however when an associate was free they just didnt seem to pay me any attention. One offered my mother some help although I was standing in the middle of the store looking interested. When I did eventually receive assistance it was good however another associate was helping my mother she made an interesting comment about the teaspoons they sell. My mother picked one up and said interesting they sell teaspoons to use for the tea leaves and the worker said " yea they are made differently than the ones you would buy at wal-mart". Most wouldnt find this offensive or anything but wal-mart is not the only place by far that sells measuring spoons. It just seems like they do try hard to sell their other products when really all you need is the cheapest canister to store the leaves in and a steeper if you dont already have these items.

I am surprised at some of these previous reviews of teavana here, being bigoted about the staff and find it completely inappropriate to judge your opinion on a store for its product & service. I have never found the staff to be anything but inviting and very helpful. It maybe hard to shop here your first time because you dont think you need to know much about tea but the staff know their product. If you are on a budget you need to be prepared, 2 oz of tea is a lot and plenty to take home. The sales people will offer you 10-12 oz to get a 10% discount but you will be charging $75+ and walking out with a years worth of tea. Some of their teas are blends that they will mix for you and will cost higher to do it in store than if you did it yourself at home. Some of their teas are outstanding and you wont find flavors as spectacular anywhere. Their blooming teas are beautiful and taste great. There are also wonderful tea accessories but a little pricey. I usually wait for a sale or look around before I decide. If you do not want to buy their tins to store your tea you can find similar at other worldly stores just down the street.

To the user below me, I think judging a store and its products by the people they hire and their CUSTOMER SERVICE SKILLS is entirely appropriate. This staff at the Teavana in Short Pump is suffocating. Great selection of teas, but (and Im a 22 yr old, outgoing and social kind of guy) the staff couldnt stop hovering. 5 people on the floor with customers, 3 behind the counter, 1 at door, 1 walking around. The store is tiny! Why do they need 5 people??? Person#: 1) Sample girl at door said hello -- thats fine. 2) Person behind counter asked if I needed help, I said I was browsing -- also fine. 3) After hearing I was browsing (universal "dont talk to me" signal) a young woman came over to chat my ear off about tea tumblers for literally 5 minutes. I appreciate the service, but I was trying all along to ward off the attention. -- NOT FINE. 4) Another person at the counter tried to ask if I needed anything, I just said "no, thanks" and yet they STILL HOVERED OVER ME. Only one person didnt talk to me. The store is small. Great selection, expensive selection. Horribly overbearing staff.

So awkward being in that store, oh man. Was immediately approached by someone there asking if I needed help. Awesome, I ask her for some suggestions etc etc, she walks over to this section and starts telling me about this certain type of tea. I nod along and look around the rest of the shelf. She watches me. I smile politely and tell her "Its a little expensive, but Ill think about it. Id like to look around some more." She replies with a cheerful, albeit surprised "Sure!" and goes on to stand over my shoulder for the next five minutes, literally and I mean "literally" just staring at me wordlessly. Most awkward experience of my life, the good news is the tea is the best Ive ever tasted in my life, despite it being extremely expensive. Definitely a special-occasion purchase, but I wish they would just leave me alone. Its not like Im picking a weapon to fight in a gladiatorial arena.

Well laid out store. Very friendly and helpful staff. Nice selection of product. I arrived to purchase a gift, and Justin immediately jumped in to show me around the store, fill me in on the days offers, and to provide helpful advice. The beautiful smells and sights of the store enhanced my experience. Justin was kind enough to get to know me for more than just a sale. He noticed my sunglasses, and that I was left handed. If I lived in Richmond, I would do all of my tea shopping with Justin, and I would hire him and his entire team in a heartbeat because of their passion, knowledge, and friendliness. Thank you to the team at Teavana - Short Pump Town Center for an exceptional customer service experience!

I came to the store prepared to buy over $200 dollars worth of merchandise, and upon entering I was met with laughter because I said that I would like to buy a teapot. The girl assisting me was sincere and helpful; however, I could distinctly here the chuckles coming from the tattoo ridden, effeminate "men". I felt extremely uncomfortable to the point that I had to leave, and I will not be returning. So, here is a tip to Teavanas management: Dont hire giddy men (and I use that term lightly) to work at a tea shop, because you will lose the few male customers you may attract.

My wife had an experience similar to others cited here. She felt that she was pressured into buying some tea just to get out of the place. Upon reflection, she decided to take the tea back. As you may imagine, they refused to take the tea back. Well never go there again and would be delighted to tell our friends to stay away.
