I am so disappointed with my experience at Shyndigz. My entire family came from Ny for the Easter Holiday & weve planned to go to Shyndigz on this very day just for the Cake of the day, which was the Oreo cake. We are big Oreo fans. We were told that our wait would be around an hour or so. Long behold, we waited, & waited, & was finally seated. We were so excited because we have yet to explore Richmond since I moved down here & they dont come often. Just to sit down & find out the cake of the day is no longer available. To make it even worse, that was known before we were given our wait time. You would think it would be common courtesy to let your customers know that your "Cake of the Day" is no longer available as an FYI before they wait over an hour to be seated. Especially since its not a regular menu item, it is your premiere cake of the day. But I guess its not at this establishment. I dont care how good the food may, or may not be, but I dont give money towards bad customer service. I wont go again. Im extremely disappointed & will pass this information along to colleagues and such because its just not okay. & Let me be clear, I am not disappointed that the cake was unavailable, I am disappointed that my family & I waited over an hour to be seated, & then 10mins for a waitress to visit our table, before we knew.

Visted RVA to explore a bit and try new things. Shyndigz was a pretty popular feed in my social media so I decided to check it out. I went on a Saturday with very good weather and I could tell it was pretty packed before I went it. They seat you when you go in and I can imagine there being a long wait when they are busy. This place sells dessert items and they are really serious about doing it the right way. I tried portions of the Gluten free Shyndigz chocolate cake and Kitchen sink thousand layer cake... It would be an understatement to say that these cakes are sweet. The Gluten free cake portion was a quarter slice of a 10-11 inch diameter cake. I didnt like the Gluten free cake because it was super dry and extremely decadent... it was just overwhelming to eat anymore after a few bites. The Kitchen sink cake was more light and moist. I liked this one better and the whipped cream was good. The price for these cake slices are high. I would recommend this place to people that have a craving for something really really sweet. Otherwise, the service was good. The employees there were polite. They are working on expanding to outdoors and adding more seats.

As wonderful and popular as this place is, you should definitely visit and try their sweets. First of all, kudos to making a dessert only restaurant with table service. Thats so smart. Ive tried lots of the desserts here. This place is perfect for a major sweet tooth. Some desserts Im crazy about like the oatmeal cream pies and the peanut butter pie. The first thing I ever had was Strawberry Shortcake and it was my favorite! It was a special also, so I havent seen it again sadly. Some of their specials dont seem to come back unless I missed it. In my opinion, and I know people would disagree with me, majority of the desserts are way too big. Some slices could replace a meal! Ive been able to split 1 slice with 2 other people before. Its fun to go with friends or family. We enjoy taking visitors here because its not common to come by a place like this. There is also a "to-go market" next door in case youd like a sweet treat but dont want to dine in.

I love the atmosphere and the desserts are amazing. If only I got a change to order one. I went last night with a group of 6 girls and we sat at a bar table by the front door. I showed up late because I had a playoff game but my friends got to enjoy their wine and desserts. My roommate even ordered me an Allagash White before I got there so I could partake in the fun immediately. When I got there the server ignored me initially. When I flagged her down I told her I wanted the funfetti cake (which I have been drying to try) she rudely told me I should have placed me order earlier. She never came back and took an order or drink or my second choice of dessert. I had not eaten dinner and was excited to fill up on your lovely cakes but I cannot believe no one took my order. The gentleman who closed our checks was nice, polite, and fast.

This place serves only dessert. A sit down restaurant where you cant get an entree. Being the meat lover that I am, you would think that I would hate such a place. But how can you hate the police that your wife loves and makes her happy. Items that we have had here and really like include the fruitcake, which is not the Christmas variety of fruit cake, the key lime pie, and the salted caramel crunch cake. The only I know weve had here that was mediocre was the pumpkin cake. The pumpkin cake tasted like a carrot cake made with pumpkin spice. Some people may like that, but we were less than overwhelmed. We enjoy taking out of town guests to this place for something a little different that they can remember Richmond by. Im sure we will be back here again and again.

Friendly servers seat you, and bring you water in little glass jars. The place quickly fills with amiable hipsters, who glance at you uncertainly if you are not one of their kind. The prices for the desserts seem high, but you order something that sounds amazing, and sip apricot tea. The wait staff emerge and present you with a slice of cake the size of your head, and suddenly the prices dont seem high anymore. You lose yourself in the indulgence of complex flavors that are not too overpoweringly sweet, but just right. About halfway through your meal-sized dessert, you realize that you arent going to make it, and when you finally concede that you are beaten, to-go boxes are available. Bright, quirky chic shabby decor. Well be back. ^_^

The dessert was great. The waitress was wonderful. The hostess acted like we werent good enough to be there. We walked in and asked for a table and instead she told us that they only have dessert and handed us a menu to look at. We told her that we knew that and that was why we came. Another group came in behind us and she asked if we would mind moving aside so she could seat them. We said "sure, do we seat ourselves?" She seemed surprised that we wanted a table, which is what we had been asking for since we walked in the door. It was pretty offensive and if we hadnt driven half an hour specifically to go to Shyndigz, we probably would have taken our business elsewhere.

This place is heaven. A place dedicated to desserts....yaaasssssss! Atmosphere: clean. Modern. Decadent with low lighting. Seating & wait time: ample seating, however the restaurant STAYS PACKED. There was a 15 minute wait at 9 pm...ON A WEDNESDAY. If waiting is not your thing, visit its "to go" reaaturant on the next block. Selection: 5 to 8 selections nightly. HUGE portion sizes. Our table ordered the strawberry cobbler, blackberry lime cake, and bread pudding. No one was disappointed. Everyone needed a to go container. Price: fair. Cons: no hard liquor. Only wine and beer. And think our waitress forgot about us a few timea. But the food totally made up for it.
