So, I drive by this shop sometimes on my way home from work. I have never stopped because I had been turned off by the numerous negative reviews, but for whatever reason I stopped by today. Im glad I did. First of all, there is a sign on the door that clearly states that guns ARE allowed in the store. When I asked about the reviews I was told the original no guns policy was directed towards people who were perhaps carrying in antiques etc for the gunsmith and may need to be reminded to check their guns. The employees informed me this was never intended for legal carry weapons. They also informed me that concealed carry courses are even taught on the premises. The shop is very well organized and carries everything from tools to firearms. I was greeted by the two ladies working the counter when I walked in and was immediately asked if I needed any help with anything. I chose to browse, but when the employees saw me looking at the handgun rack behind the counter they immediately came to me offering assistance and allowed me to ask several questions and handle multiple firearms. I asked about a certain ammo and was informed they did not carry it, but was told it could and would be ordered and I left my number for pick up at a later date. Prices seem fair and the selection was surprisingly good given the location, which I thought would be sparse at best. Im not sure how so many people rate this place poorly, but I will be a return patron in the future.

George is the man! My purchase was a very pleasurable experience. He was knowledgeable, polite, and a hoot to talk with. I saw right through the dismal 1 star ratings regarding some previous gun policy held there. I was in a packed bow shop once when a guy decided to draw a 70lb bow back and dry fired it. POW! Luckily the only thing that was hurt was the bow and his pride. Accidents happen. Ill bet the State Troopers dont get a bunch of crap when people are required to check their arms at gun shows. How would you like to be a store keeper that has to trust the safe gun handling habits of 100s that may walk through your store over the course of a month? "Elitists with inflated prices" Ha! The owner probably cant get the cheaper bulk purchase prices like bigger stores. These are the jealous accusations of people that dont have the talent, tenacity, and fortitude that it takes to be self employed. And yes, I am self employed and will support this local business with future purchases.

I understand the challenges of being a small business owner but you can’t take advantage your customers. I was going to have some repairs done on my rifle and wanted to purchase a Taurus TCP that George had shown me. When I was talking to the owner/gunsmith Rick, I know he was exaggerating about the difficultly of the repair to the rifle and he was concerned about all of the time he would spend checking a website for the part for the rifle that was on backorder. This rhetoric was to vindicate his gunsmith fee, which in all honestly was a reasonable fee, but I felt like he was a swindler. I feel bad to leave a less than ideal review because I thought the employees George and Wayne are very knowledgeable and helpful. I like the convenience of their location but I will be taking my business elsewhere.

I have just seen on Facebook your downright rude and ugly reply to someone who inquired about your sign stating only law enforcement can carry in your establishment. I can understand you stating that yes you have a sign up but calling a potential customer names in an email is horrid business practice. That is such a rude reply to someone who had asked you to verify that you have a sign up that I plan on not patronizing your establishment. Sad that youd take our money for guns and ammo but not let us utilize our Second Amendment rights as per the Constitution. You DO understand that those with concealed carry permits have gone through background investigations as well as courses and have been approved by law enforcement to conceal carry, yes?

Seeing the sign on the door which prohibits the carry of firearms inside by anyone who is not law enforcement is a deal breaker when I am shopping for a firearm or accessories. While his sign has no force of law, according to Virginia Code, I would still take my business elsewhere and encourage others to do the same. On top of that I see a response today from the owner of the establishment in a response to an inquiry of his policy where he goes on a rant and personal attack against the person asking for clarification. I hope there are enough police in his local area to keep him in business as I have relayed this info to my family in the area. Word will spread quickly.

Just purchased a new hand gun from Absolutely Outdoors. They were extremely helpful in choosing the correct gun, accessories and the right ammo for my needs. They were very competitive in their pricing, but with the time and care they took with me, Id pay more for their service. They also offer hand gun training classes including concealed carry classes. Rick is a great guy and really cares about his customers. I will certainly use Absolutely Outdoors for all my gun needs. They also have a great selection of other Hunting and Fishing supplies.

Not a part of the Pro 2A community. This place has a sign on front door banning lawful carry unless the person is a law enforcement officer. In essence, they think the average law abiding citizen who carries a firearm for self defense is just too dumb to be trusted with live ammunition in their shop. These are the same people from whom they are more than willing to accept money. A shopkeeper who loathes his own clientele. I found them to be arrogant, smug and verbally abusive.

An awful place for any true believe in the 2nd amendment. Avoid like the plague! Sign on door says youre not allowed to carry your gun (loaded) into the store unless youre a cop. WTF?! Walmart is more gun friendly than this "gun store" by far. The owner called Ed Levine (Executive Member of the VCDL) a "loser" and "life long member of the tiny dick club" just because he asked a question about the sign. Is that the kind of person and business you want to give your money to?

You and your policy are disgusting. Oh we post that sign for people uninformed on firearms? That is typical elitism logic. You are either for guns or against them. I hope that you will change your sign and your attitude towards gun owners we were all new with guns at one point, you should encourage those people not chastise and berate them, lest they decide pro-gunners arent the crowd they want to associate with due to attitudes like that.

Not (loaded)carry friendly, allegedly the owner claims it is a safety issue. Yet can anyone cite any valid evidence that properly holstered handguns are a danger to staff or other customers? Apparently, if the VAOC report is accurate, he has a poor attitude when confronted about the sign. I wont shop here, even if he changes the sign. Blacklist this store and support a true pro-gun gun shop.
