I take my dog here for grooming and day camp, and I give it an A+. I cant speak to their lodging services, but if I had to leave my dog anywhere, it would be here for sure. Grooming: In the past, when I would take my dog to get groomed at other places she would seem stressed and unhappy when I came to pick her up. Not so with Pampered Pets. After a few visits, she started to run into the arms of the intake person. No shaking, no fear, no escape attempts. She actually enjoys coming to get groomed, which I thought would never happen. She has no negative associations with this place, so I know that they treat her well. She always comes out looking adorable, and the price is very fair. Day Camp: The first couple of times I brought her to day camp, she was a bit shy and didnt want me to leave her there alone. But after she realized that I was always going to come and pick her up at the end of the day, she started really looking forward to the days she gets to go to day camp! Now she waits by the door every morning hoping its time for day camp. I just wish that I could afford to bring her every day. I take her to day camp once a week, and she always sleeps like a baby for the next couple of nights, which is perfect! She comes home happy and tired. They not only play with the dogs and entertain them, they also work on basic obedience, which is a nice bonus. The socialization has been fantastic for my dog, and I find that she happily greets other dogs when we are out for walks now, instead of barking at them or hiding behind me like sometimes she used to do. I will happily continue to support this local business that gives back to the community. They run an honest business, and they dont raise their prices around the holidays, which I have known other places to do. They seem to treat their employees well and they obviously care about the animals. Its not always easy to get through to them on the phone, but keep trying, because its worth it!

I boarded my 1yo Newfoundland at Pampered Pets for 2 days. When I had toured the place earlier, they took me to a front room that was small, had 20-30 dogs (much quieter), and clean. It seemed nice, and I felt comfortable leaving here there. Days later when I went to drop her off, I asked if i could go back with her to set up her bed. They hesitantly agreed. To my surprise, she didnt go to the room they had showed me, but a much larger, darker, warehouse-like room in the back with what I would estimate as ~60 dog runs full of barking dogs. I was scared. My pup seemed horrified. But against my better judgement, I told myself things would calm down, and shed be fine. When I got back, I was thrilled to pick my dog up and excited to hear about how things had gone. The attendant approached me with a scowl on her face, and began to lecture me, saying my dog had (i kid you not) intentionally gone to the bathroom in her kennel and walked in it "for fun". The puppy had a behavioral problem, and I should consider investing in training (already done). Caught off guard and embarrassed, I didnt know what to say.. so I mumbled some kind of an apology. She then explained that they had to wash her, and theyd be charging me grooming fees as well (which i had no problem with). I left feeling terrible. Though this was the first time shed been boarded overnight and I can understand their frustration with a dog who goes to the bathroom in their kennel, I am still shocked by the lack of empathy and anger the staff showed towards my dog and the disrespect they showed me as a customer.

First time dog grooming customer and very disappointed. I picked Pampered Pets as folks rated them #1 for grooming services etc. in. CVille. Heres why I gave the business one star: Dropping off my dog early am, the atmosphere was so thick I dont think you could even "cut it". Very cold and uninviting. No greeting. In fact IMO, it really did seem like the ladies working there either didnt like working with each other, dont like the work they do or, just lack basic customer service skills or any combination of any of the three. When the young lady came out to take the dog to be groomed, I gave her two areas I wanted her to pay particular attention to. Now when I came back in the early afternoon to pick my dog up, the atmosphere didnt change one iota. Still cold and uninviting. My dog was brought out and I noticed right away two areas I mentioned were not done as I had requested. Really, I said nothing as I just wanted out of there. Then I got the bill. I know what grooming service charges are in the Charlottesville and surrounding areas. They are on the high end of that range. Later, I also noticed the nails were cut unevenly and some toes were not cut. I will say the body grooming looked good and thats where the one star comes in. The owner(s) and the folks working at Pampered Pets probably remember how hard it was building their business. I know too, because I had one. Hope this helps Pampered Pets owners and employees fully understand the other side of the counter better and the quality of their work they produce.

Pampered Pets is the primary place I use for pet care of all kinds for my now-nearly-2-year-old labradoodle, Kevin. Its an incredible place. He goes to day care there 1-3 days per week, I have lodged him there during business trips, and have used their grooming services and their training services. Lodging & Day Care: my dog is obsessed with their day care. When we get there, he is more excited than I ever see him. When I pick him up, he doesnt want to leave. He plays outside, hangs out in the doggie pools, and plays with tons of dogs. I also know he spends the whole day playing because when he comes home, he is so tired he falls right asleep, and often is even sleepy the next day (in recovery!) Im convinced sending him to day care here when he was little socialized him to be a good adult dog. Lodging services are also professional and I have never had an issue, and you can combine lodging & day care together so that your dog isnt just sitting around all day while lodged. Grooming: so many of the commercial groomers in town like those at Petco and PetSmart simply dont give my dog a reasonable haircut. They all cut him to look like a traditional poodle, which is a look I hate, even when I implore them otherwise. Pampered Pets always gives him the best haircuts! Training: I have done several training classes with Valerie, their trainer. Shes awesome -- teaches positive reinforcement techniques, and training class is a lot of fun for the dogs (and even for the owners). Hes better behaved as a result of this.

I always bathe and groom my dog before taking her to the kennel when I leave town... this way I can make sure that she looks okay and I can do an all-over body check when I pick her up. I came back to pick her up to find her covered in mats (I literally had to cut so many out that she now looks like another breed) and she was covered in old, smelly pee (more than a day old). I am incredibly disappointed as she was freshly bathed, conditioned, brushed, and trimmed and she was completely disgusting when I picked her up. She does not have accidents on herself - and I paid for her to have 2 one-on-one play sessions a day, and if they actually give her the extra hour of play time outside or inside that should give her the opportunity to go to the restroom... she does not go on herself so I can only assume with horror that they neglected to give her the amount of play time she deserves. Why wouldnt they call to let me know she had an accident and would I like them to bathe her before picking her up? If I was running this service I would call the owners and give them that option. Hello, that is common sense, she is an indoor dog, why would I want to pick up my dog covered in her own waste? Wouldnt that be common sense? Why would they keep this dog with mats in her hair that made her cry when she wanted to prick up her ears? Isnt that basically abusing the animal in a way she cannot control? I am very unhappy and looking for another kennel.
