The folks at occasionally cake seem like wonderful people who are working very hard but they were unable to deliver. I gave them a VERY simple design thinking no one could mess it up. But upon delivery the cake apparently collapsed because my venue was located on a hill. They took the cake back to the shop to rebuild it resulting in the first layer being a different shade of blue from the second two layers. Once at the venue again the cake topper fell off the cake after they set it up leaving one side of the cake completely ruined. They stuffed flowers in the top of the cake and scattered flower petals down the back where the cake had been destroyed. It looked like the cake was vomiting roses. Without ever having to call to complain they offered a $100 rebate on the cake which was smart. Still, it is disappointing to pay $800+ dollars for a cake with so many problems. The cake was dry, not at all like the cakes we tasted, perhaps because they had to go back and use anything they could find to fix the original cake. You cant get upset over something like this on the day of your wedding because there is so much to be thankful for but it is still a big disappointment. I hope they do better in the future.

I bought a groupon deal for a cupcake class for two, planning to bring my little ten year old sister for her birthday. We called OC and got an appointment in Old Town, Alexandria and she was really excited to go. When we arrived at OC in Old Town Alexandria, we stood in front of an empty store. OC forgot to call us ahead of time and did not tell us that they just closed the store just one week ago. I called them. The woman on the phone was shocked, because someone was suppose to call us which DID NOT HAPPEN. The only thing she could do was to apologize, I was so upset. She didnt even try to help, she just said that we could use the money we spent on the groupon deal (55 dollars) for cupcakes. As if someone wanted to eat that many cupcakes?!!! After I asked for it, she offered me to send us a coupon for free cupcakes. We never received it. Mistakes can happen, but that they did not even sent us the promised coupon, I think they are horrible people. With a sad and disappointed 10 year old I had to drive home. If you want to get disappointed ,go ahead and visit this store. No wonder, they had to close the store in Old Town. If they keep that behavior, I am sure the second will be closed soon, too.

Ive had cupcakes all over the DC area - Georgetown Cupcake, Hello Cupcake, Red Velvet, etc - simply, nothing compares. We hired Occasionally Cake to bake our wedding cake and cupcakes and could not have been more pleased with the service or the taste/texture of the cupcakes. We had 100 or so extra cupcakes at the event and our guests ate them all up. Their buttercream frosting is probably one of the best things I have ever consumed or will consume in my entire lifetime. We have been back to Occasionally Cake to purchase replica cakes on our wedding anniversaries and have purchased additional cakes for other events. The ladies are always professional, courteous, and creative!

Spent time picking out cake and cupcakes. sent several pictures and was told it could be done not an issue. Paid extra for design and cake was nothing like I ordered. No name, no decorations, no 1 for first birthday as ordered. Cake was rust colored when it should have been white with sesame street decorations. Total embarrassment for a childrens party. Cupcakes were rust colored Elmos not red, RUST. Not sure how you could have won cake wars. Buyer beware!!! Go elsewhere. I wouldnt have done this review if call or emails were answered.?

I ordered a cake for a baby shower, and it was perfect. The design was adorable and the cake received great reviews from the attendants (30+). We like to get cupcakes there because there are so many varieties. We each have our favorites in my family, and every once in a while we try one that were not a fan of. But, theyre always moist and baked to perfection, and then we go back and order our favorites. I love that they make gluten-free ones as well. Theyre delicious and moist, not an easy thing to do GF.

I LOVE, LOVE, LOVE the cupcakes at OC. There are so many different varieties it’s hard to pick a favorite. (I do favor the Key lime though... YUM) I’ve had many cupcakes in my day and there have never been any that come close to Occasionally Cake. Recently I took a dozen into my work and there were gone within 10 minutes with everyone asking me where I had gotten them. If you are looking for quality products with a knowledge staff I recommend them highly!

Occasionally Cake made a birthday cake for our daughter and it was perfect. The cake design was beautiful and the moist texture of the cake and the frosting was divine. We have also been in countless times for cupcakes, because they are the best Ive ever had. They offer a wide variety of flavors and they never disappoint. Weve always received the best service from the staff and I highly recommend Occasionally Cake. No place like it.

Called the night before my daughters 13th birthday to inquire about ordering cupcakes. Were informed that there was no need to order that we could pick up the cupcakes on the day of the birthday. When we arrived, we were greeted by no cupcakes, no new orders and the place was closed. Not exactly what we were told 24 hours prior. Certainly wont go there again.

We have used Occasionally Cake for several occasions and have never been disappointed. The owners will work with you to get the design that you want and the cakes taste amazing! We like to stop in for cupcakes once in awhile and have never been disappointed. I would highly recommend Occasionally Cake!

We used Occasionally Cake for our daughters first birthday cake and smash cake and it was beatiful and loved by all. We are using them again for her 2nd birthday cake and I am very excited about it. I cannot wait to see how it turns out. I will be a regular customer for years to come!

Not a quality cake. The cake was dry, and the icing was like paste. The design was sloppy with many mistakes. The owners were unapologetic when the mistakes were pointed out. WAY too pricey for what I received. Would never go back.

Great place to enjoy different flavors in cupcakes. I saved the box since I have become a frequent customer. Their flavor ideas are endless. If looking for something unique this is the place to go. Go and visit you wont regret!

One word to sum up Occasionally Cake is Amazing. The cake is absolutely delicious, the cakes are beautiful, and the classes are phenomenal. The owner actually won Cake Wars on Food Network. It is a must try!
