I am born and raised in San Antonio, but havent lived there for about 11 years. The Donut Shop is truly one of my biggest weaknesses. They have the best donuts and tacos around. I always try to go there when we are in town, if not, my parents always make an effort to bring me some when they visit us. In the morning, the line of cars is always very long, but thats an indicator of how amazing this place is. Last time I was there, they still only accepted cash. There have been times that I forget this little fact and I end up at the gas station next door withdrawing money to get my little fix! So worth it!!!

Really good flour tortillas and options...but even better, softer, fluffier, served warm and somehow stays warm is their original glazed doughnut. I couldve eaten a case of those if given the chance...fortunately I wasnt. I myself got the strawberry glazed doughnut and that was good; my wife got the original glazed and I had to buy her another one after my "small bites". Line does get long (both inside and drive-thru) so do your best to go before 8am. Other than that, you really cant go wrong with a taco and an original glazed doughnut and coffee. Enjoy!

Just moved into the area and noticed some crazy long lines at this place. I drove by extra early today to grab a few tacos and to try an original glazed doughnut. As Joey Lawrence once said a billion times, "Woah". Loved it! Tortillas taste great, eggs arent too dry, and the chorizo and bean was perfect. Also, I think they put a touch of cinnamon in their coffee which goes great with the fluffy and lightly glazed doughnuts. This place is worth going to the ATM to grab some cash.

This rating is based on business operations: I really wanted to try this place. So, when my boss said to price out large orders, I did just that. unfortunately, I was unable to give this place a try because their pricing was $30 more than other places. If this is a cash only business their prices should be comparable to other places as they are not paying for resources or a percentage to have a credit card machine. A local award does not justify the price hike.

They have a drive thru for tacos and donuts but not for both... I asked the window attendant at the donut drive thru if I could possibly order tacos as well and she replied "no!" She said " you have to drive around to the taco dove thru in order to actually order tacos... I find it stupid on how you have to go to another drive in lane.. Its like wasteing twice the gas, the time, plus effort just for a taco.. so not worth it.. on the plus side great donuts..

This is an old school type of place. A mom and pop type. The drive thru is usually packed. However, it is worth the wait. Saturday mornings , you are lucky to get into the small dining room where no one knows your name, but, if, you are a regular, youll get waves, How are you? Not sure how long it has been there, however, I have been going there since Feb. 1982, when I first moved here from Houston.

Great spot for breakfast tacos and donuts. This restaurant is cash only so come prepared. ODS is a staple in this area and a local favorite, Ive been eating there for 15 years now. Be prepared to wait a bit because its a popular restaurant, both drive thru and inside dining/ordering. If you are only interested in donuts there will be less of a wait because thats a separate line.

I must be missing something here. This place was voted the best in town yet I really didnt really care for it. Ive revisited several times just in case someone was having a off day. The eggs are bone dry in their tacos. Tortillas are good but not the best. Hot sauce is ok. Just not really impressed. There are many other locations who deserve the best in town award.

Didnt get to try the food because drive thru line hits the street after only a couple cars. Watched one employee attempt to manage both the inside line and the "Doughnuts Only" line, because the drive thru is divided into two lanes, one for doughnuts and one for everything else. They also only accept cash but dont advertise that anywhere except inside the restaurant.

There is one reason I come here and one reason only APPLE FRITTERS! Everything about them are delicious and not one place Ive tried can replicate the Original. Be warned if you go too late in the day they run out so you better get an early start if you want to get one or maybe two or three. I drive over 30 minutes to get them, that is how good they are.

Walk in on a rainy day hoping to get great service but the man at the register ask us how may he help us and we start letting him know and hes fooling around making jokes with the lady on the side of him and just trying to order and get on going with our day... just think thats very ruled especially when we are also on the clock with a 30 min break.

Food is great but older lady at register is a little moody and donut side guy who is making the donuts in the fryer does not have gloves on and is eating some of the donuts which is a health hazard because he comes to the front and touch his other things and does not wash his hands and touches the other Donuts other than that the place is okay.

This CASH ONLY hole-in-the-wall shop has been a staple of San Antonio breakfasts for years. My chorizo & potato taco was great and not nearly as greasy as chorizo usually is. We had a few doughnuts for breakfast-dessert, which were delicious as well. I might start carrying around cash in my wallet just in case I need an emergency taco stop.

I have NEVER reviewed a restaurant before but I needed the address to the restaurant and decided to write one while I was here. This place is the real deal. Amazing REAL mexican cuisine food. If your on a budget this place you dont have to leave a tip. You order your food, foods ready, you pick it up, you enjoy.

Definitely love this place. These people get up super early to start making everything fresh everyday. I used to be a cook there so I know what it takes to make that food. And the donuts are to-die-for when you get them hot and fresh. So definitely ask for the ones that are coming out of the donut maker.

Better than standard donuts. The raised glazed had a sweet soft bite but more of a sugary batter than I prefer, though it was still good. The cinnamon donut had a homemade quality with fantastic crumble though it was a bit oily. Ill totally go again. This time, for tacos!

Bring your cash, but the quality of the food makes up for the inconvenience. Tacos were great(huge) and the donuts are respectable. The kicker here was the MENUDO, so good, my wife usually only eats the hominy, not this time.

This place has the best breakfast tacos Ive ever had! The taco sauce definitely won me over, it has the authentic mexican flavor and not from a can I always ask for extra. I dont go anywhere else for my tacos!
