As soon as you walk in, the Buddha Box family is there to greet you with enthusiasm and professionalism. The entire staff is friendly and answer any and every question with precision. The shop itself is cleaner than any shop Ive ever walked into, and the set up is perfect. I had the pleasure of getting both a piercing and tattoo. First of all, Id just like to say that I had the pleasure of getting pierced by Derek. He was completely professional, explaining aftercare of my nose piercing as soon as I walked into the amazingly sterile room. I would like to add that even though I have had my nose pierced before and this would be a re-piercing, he made sure to explain the aftercare process. I was impressed that he took the time to evaluate the anatomical structure of my nose to place my piercing in a spot that would compliment me. He cleaned the area thoroughly both before and after. Id be lying if I said I didnt love the way it turned out- in fact, it looks even better than it did the first time around! Now onto the tattoo, my boyfriend got two first and was completely happy with the turnout. Our tattoo artist was Tony and he was great! Quite professional, made us feel comfortable, and also explained aftercare. He kept us entertained during the session and kept a conversation going, even including us when talking to others in the Buddha Box family. Tattoos came out perfect- lines perfect, coloring beautiful, and placement/size just right! From now on, I will always recommend Buddha Box for both piercings and tattoos.

From the moment I walked in Buddha Box, I felt very comfortable. The place is very clean, well lit, the rooms are clean, the staff is very professional. Before going to Buddha Box, Saturday night my friends and me went to "Slave to the needle" or "Ring of fire" (I saw two different names) across from Joes Volcano. Trashy! thats really all I can say. The floor was dirty, one of the guys was just vulgar, and the restroom...YUCK. I was going to get an industrial piercing, but my gut feeling said no. All my friends got nose piercings and a belly piercing. On Sunday, I ended up going to Buddha Box. Jessica was my piercer. She is amazing! Before she went further, she checked out both of my ears to see if Im able to get the industrial piercing. Unfortunately I wasnt able to due my ears not having enough cartilage to support the piercing. She explained everything I needed to know. I ended up getting a simple Helix piercing. Knowing that Buddha Box has a female piercer, Im recommending all my Muslim female friends to her. I promise you, you wont regret going to Buddha Box.

Probably the cleanest, most professional shop I have been in over the course of all the tattoos and piercings my wife and I have collectively gotten. Glad to see tattoo talent like Jerry has found its way there. Specifically my wife went for a double forward helix. Derek was the consummate professional. At every shop before it was point, stab, bleed, pay leave. Derek took the time to talk and draw the spots out, making sure the positioning would be best set for healing and looks. This man is the first person who has made me see piercing as an art and a professional skill, not just putting holes in people. I found myself commenting multiple times about how amazed I was and even had to give him a hug after for making my wife feel so comfortable. Overall, considering my wife has over 10 piercings, two half sleeves, and my calves are completely covered, this is probably the smoothest most comfortable experience I have ever had in a shop. Definitely will be referring people and giving return business.

Staff was very rude. The woman behind the counter did not seem to know what she was talking about at ALL. I am a minor (17) and went in with my mother to ask what we needed for a piercing because I do not have a state issued i.d yet. She told us a school I.d could work if it had my name and photo. We also live 3 hours away. We came back two days later, with my school i.d in tow. She then tells us that she told us to bring my birth certificate, which she NEVER did. So they couldnt pierce my nose without the certifate. Then the man with gauges comes up and tries to defend the girl who is telling us this saying "I heard her tell you to bring a birth certificate", not only had she failed to tell us this, she tried lying about it. The two were both very rude. Unhappy with their customer service. Huge waste of time and gas. Two thumbs down. Minors who want to get a piercing or tattoo : bring a parent/guardian , Your school i.d with photo and name, and your birth certificate.

Never in my life have I had a piercer like Derek. I came in very nervous about having this personal piercing done. Derek, my boyfriend(moral support) and I talked privately for about 45 minutes about the piercing. He went into detail about how the piercing is done, cleaning and even told us a couple funny stories, he made a great effort to make me as comfortable as he could. Not once did he try to hurry me into getting ready for the piercing, he let me take my time to get comfortable and situated. When it came time for the piercing he gave me a few minutes to slow my breathing(I honestly almost set myself into a panic attack). Then in one quick and very surprisingly painful pinch, it was done. Im very happy with my new addition and couldnt have wished for a better artist to do it. If youre looking for a piercer with patience, understanding and no judgment, I dont believe there is another that is more so than Derek.

I have been getting tattoos here for some time by an artist of the name Trophy (Tony) I literally have to call the shop up all the time to get more business cards because people on the streets are fascinated by his work. I love the atmosphere of the place and I love how everything is so sanitary. I dont recommend anyone anywhere else. I ask everyone to go to Buddha Box because it is worth it. If you want a professional tattoo or piercing and want to get educated on proper care of your work on you, then I highly recommend this place. If you want to get a cheap priced tattoo or piercing for about 20 to 30 bucks, I would not recommend coming here. These artists are professionals, their shop is a professional sterile sanitary environment , and they perform work for people to not regret the work. This shop is excellent, I would say it is the best shop in San Antonio.

So I just left this shop and it was BY FAR THE BEST tattoo shop Ive been to in SA, and Ive been to quite a few. As soon as I walked in the staff was very welcoming, which has not happened at any other shop Ive been to. None of them looked like they dreaded there job or even being there. When I asked about the piercing I wanted they told me everything I needed to know about keeping it clean, what could infect it and how to avoid that. They told me all the cleaning procedures before I even got my nostril done then reminded me again before I left. They were all so professional and chill I loved the environment there. They even looked at an older tattoo that needed to be fixed and finished and told me what they could do to help fix it and agreed on finishing it for me. This is honestly by favorite shop in San Antonio and I recommend them to anyone and everyone.
