The interaction with the store owner on Saturday April 8, 2017 around 5:30pm was one that left my co-workers and I feeling very hurt, saddened, disrespected and disappointed with what we thought was supposed to be Southern Hospitality. We had been having a very pleasant trip. And even after having been unfortunate enough to be caught in the severe flight cancellation issues with Delta Airlines, we did not feel stuck, in San Antonio. We looked at our unfortunate situation as an extra day to spend in a place we enjoyed. Upon entry into the store, myself and two of my co-workers sat down and called the remaining bunch of us to come join us to indulge in some afternoon ice cream. We sat in the relatively empty shop and began to discuss our plans for early travelling the next morning. Once we all were there (approximately 5 minutes after we entered), our conversation quickly shifted because a few of us discovered after having our flight cancelled and rebooked, we now also had no guaranteed seats on the new plane and might have to be on standby for a following flight. Needless to say, we were a bit distracted and did forget to immediately order anything. The owner of the shop came from behind the counter and very rudely said we dont take orders at the table, youll need to order at the counter. I reassured him that we did know that and would be ordering shortly. He restated this again and said that we were taking up space in his relatively small store and they were extremely busy and if we did not intend on ordering then our commandeering of the table would need to end. He was extremely condescending, dismissive and very curt with the delivery of his message. One of my coworkers blurted out “What?” as she looked around because the store was empty aside from us and a couple with their children. There were at least 4 empty tables in front and behind us. At that point, we decided to leave because staying and spending money in an establishment in which the owner did not value his customers was not something we wanted to do. We were in fact, so disturbed we left 2 orders of take out from the place we previously went for dinner. Upon realizing that we left our food, I immediately turned around to retrieve it and it was gone from the table. After walking off the initial shock of the situation, myself and one coworker decided to return to the shop to explain the situation to him in the hopes of a mutual understanding and getting back the take out orders, because it was our dinner. I asked to speak to him at the counter and I said that we came with every intention of ordering and we were just very distracted because of our travel situation. He dismissed me once again and began to rattle off about taking up space in his store, and my coworker’s “snarky” and disdainful behavior because she blurted out “What?” at him. He yelled at us, spoke to us as though we were children and really seemed to become hostile because we were not engaging in a yelling match with him. He even went to far as to say that he would throw us out if he could not continue to scream and yell at us about my coworker whose behavior was so “outrageous”. At that point, I realized our efforts to rectify the situation were futile and I chose to leave. I was very sad and the rest of our time in San Antonio was soured by this interaction. Upon reading the reviews that received less than 3 stars, I notice that this is the trend with this owner. Very harsh, confrontational exchanges seem to be sought out by this man. Its sad to say that we didnt even get to taste or review anything edible in your store because your disgusting attitude turned our stomachs before we even got the chance. Spare me a long belligerent response Juan. Dont bother to ban me or my coworkers from your store. Just know that myself, and anyone I know who visits San Antonio will never frequent your establishment. Well be sure to go to Francescos Gelato again! Their gelato AND ice cream is great!!! :)

Fantastic food, great atmosphere and music, we love this place!!! Wish we had one of these back home. Were here in San Antonio for the first time visiting friends for the weekend, and they said this place is a must. Wound up coming back here 3 times in 3 days, everything is just super delicious. Wed happily come yet again tomorrow and go 4 for 4, but we leave tomorrow, and theyre closed Monday anyway it seems. But absolutely the best Homemade Cheesecake we ever ate ! I normally dont even care for cheesecake that much but theirs was something special. Best waffles we ever ate, and I mean ever, as in my whole life, anywhere, period, end of story ! ("Fraises and Crème" / Strawberries and homemade whipped cream was my personal fave, their whipped cream is really homemade and tastes that way, and I could eat it by the bowlful all by itself if they would serve it like that ! To die for ! Seriously. Dump me headfirst in a vat full of that stuff and I would happily eat my way out ! ). And best hot chocolate weve had in a very long time, a nice treat in this unexpectedly cold weather here, it reminds me of this wonderful hot chocolate we had in Paris 2 years ago during our honeymoon. This place is really a one-of-a-kind, a true gem. Cant beat a place thats got Natalie Merchant and Damian Rice blaring in the background, combined with some truly awesome homemade desserts. They were super busy each time we were there and probably couldve used more help/staff for the kind of crowds they had, but the people who were working there seemed very capable and professional. Its a nice change to see "real adults" working a store like this instead of like most place these days where everything is staffed by a bunch of teenagers. Nothing against teens but you all know what I mean. On our first time ordering the menu felt a bit overwhelming and theres a lot of French language going on, but the man running the store was very nice and very helpful in patiently explaining everything to us. It all made for a great experience worth writing about .

Classy joint, excellent food, I really like what theyre doing here. Our hotel concierge was spot on with his recommendation. I was in Brussells (Belgium) last year so I totally get what theyve got going on in this joint. Seems like they essentially recreated what a Brussells dessert shop and eatery looks like over there, and stuck it right in the heart of Downtown San Antonio of all goshdarn places! So anyway, we actually popped in specifically for dessert but I wound up wolfing down one of their paninni sandwiches first because I still had an empty spot. Gotta give these people props, that was one righteous tasty sandwich amigos ! Basically I guess it was just a Belgian version of a ham and cheese sandwich, but they toast the bread just right, and have this herb concoction on there that was outta this world delicious. I asked afterwards what it was, the counter girl said it was garlic and "some other herbs," but I could tell she was gettin cheeky with me and wasnt sure she was supposed to tell me exactly what it was. So I didnt want to press her any further and maybe get her in trouble, so I left it at that. But it was super tasty whatever it was, let me tell you. Of course the original mission was actually dessert, we didnt forget about that. My bud had their home made peanut butter and banana ice cream which I sampled, and it was also a righteously fine cup of ice cream. Damn good. I had an order of profteroles, some kindof pastry thing filled with cream, and topped with ice cream and their special chocolate sauce. Again, quite righteous, this was some serious varsity dessert eatin ! We will definitely be back here again before we blow outta here
