Had the opportunity to visit this restaurant one Saturday recently. Upon arrival found the parking lot to be packed with folks, so figured that was a good sign about the reputation of the restaurant. Got seated fairly quickly, but that was the only thing quick for the remainder of the visit. The menu is adorned with a lot of favorites and cooking youd find in your very own home - the only menu items unique to the restaurant were the boudain and cajun omelette. everything on the menu has a low cost, but high return from the pricing. ex: three pieces of bread, dipped in egg wash (french toast) was $8 alone. it was difficult to find value in the portions served between any person in my party. From ordering to food hitting the table was >1 hour.

Almost cafeteria quality food for $11 at lunch + tax and tip and drink. Frozen CFS, canned gravy, corn and instant MP. Not bad, just below SE Texas cafe fare, especially for the price. Try Lercys in Winnie. They set the gold standard.

Yum! Update 8/18/17 Visited again today for lunch. Grilled chicken dinner with green beans is a good healthy choice. It was delicious! The best part though had to be Miss Betty!

Great, fresh hot food. Prices were great. Gumbo was true gumbo...just right. Chicken fried steak was tender and made fresh...no frozen. Cornbread was very big and sweet.

I got a double meat bacon cheese burger and fries and drink for $18.00 I have to say it was worth it and I couldnt finish the meal

Much better experience and food than IHOP or Waffle House. Only down side was the wait because they were so busy. Worth the wait.
