I have mixed feelings about Hobby Lobby. I love the company and what it stands for morally. I love the selection and decor items and creative materials. Im probably there every other week picking up something because I own my own floral business and I do weddings and events. Because of their great occasional sales I can sometimes pick up things I need for cheaper than buying wholesale! Now heres the other part.. Hobby Lobby is the rudest store I have ever experienced when it comes to retail stores when they are closing for the evening. They count down every five minutes from about 15 till closing on the intercom in a very unfriendly way letting you know theyre about to close. Right when that minute hits they start making announcements that they are closed and start blinking the lights on and off. I find this very offensive as a customer that they have a "Everybody Out" attitude about the store when it comes to closing time. They also start walking around with walkie talkies through the aisle yelling that the area is clear or isnt clear .. and if you are staying there it is obviously pertaining to you and this makes me very uncomfortable and unwelcome feeling. Dont get me wrong I understand time constraints. It is a rude way in which it is done that bothers me. I work retail for five years at Bed Bath & Beyond and never did they ever make loud rude announcements about the stores closing every five minutes ,go around yelling about the areas not being clear, and definitely would never start blinking the lights on and off like you are in some kind of dive bar- " you dont have to go home but you cant stay here!" .. What they did do is calmly walk around and ask people if they can help them in a very nice customer service way. That is the way to do business! After all, isnt the customer service experience what its really all about? There are a million stores in Houston Texas to shop for decor items. They need to work on their customer service skills.

I have very mixed feelings about Hobby Lobby in general. This fry rd location is the one I frequent the most..probably 2-3 times per month because I am a designer. I think the store itself is outstanding as far as design, selection, and values as a company. Its the employees I have a problem with.. and the way that evening closing is handled. Now, there are 3-4 people that work at this store that are Amazing.. and go out of their way.. but in general, hobby lobby employees in my experience seem to act annoyed to help in a customer service aspect. I have worked retail and food and beverage both so I know how to treat customers. I cannot IMAGINE making announcements every 3 minutes that we are closing them shutting the lights on and off and loudly announcing what areas are clear and Not clear WHILE PAYING CUSTOMERS ARE STILL STANDING THERE! And right at closing time! Not 20-30 min after! They make you feel like you are inconveniencing them because you arent running out the door Before closing time. That is Beyond rude to me! I cant imagine if a customer was at a table when I was a server and announcing over the intercom loudly and rudely that TABLE 4 NOT CLEAR!! I mean really? Get it together Hobby Lobby employees! Walk around and ask how you can help in a nice way! THATS how you treat customers and make them want to come back! And by helping them you can help them get out the door! Stop the loud announcements and light flickers! Its NOT a bar at 2 am! Be respectful ! I always leave mad if Im there shopping till 8 pm because of this. And I spend HUNDREDS of dollars there per year!

I wanted to take a moment to express my gratitude for Ms. Tiffany at the Hobby Lobby located at I-10 and Fry. Ms. Tiffany is the Assistant Manager at this location and has been so helpful and honest with me I feel that she has almost been a wedding coordinator. I could rave about the exception customer service Ms. Tiffany has taken displayed, but the time and attention she has given to me is unexplainable. Ms. Tiffany has kept me informed about the trending wedding items as well as substitutes for items that have not been available. In addition , she has taken the time to order the things I need for my wedding especially for me. I am not sure if this is just regular policy, but as an enigma bride the personal attention has went a long way for me. When I asked Ms. Tiffany if there was anything special I could do to thank her, she presented me with a warm smile, as she always does, and said, “I am just doing my job” I love the fact I am always acknowledge within 5 seconds of walking into the store and I am always address with helpful staff willing to go above and beyond. The leadership and accountability at this store is AMAZING! I really do appreciate everyone who I have come in contact with at this particular location.. It warms my heart that my local Hobby Lobby is full of friends and a warm setting. Again, Ms. Tiffany is a shining star!

I recently moved in the area close to this location. I wish I had the option to not give a star at all. The issue is not with the actual products, if it were not for the large selection I would not shop here AT ALL! My issue is with the absolutely HORRIBLE customer service I have experienced here on a regular basis. I make just about everything in my home so I am frequently purchasing products that I need and never once can I say I had a positive experience here. The cashiers are so rude, some wont even speak to you unless its just to tell you your total. At first I gave the benefit of the doubt, but every single time with a different cashier all with a deplorable attitude... I think I will just drive the extra few miles and go to a different supplier where I have a more pleasant experience. I dont want to keep spending money St at a place that the employees make me feel uncomfortable from the negativity.

This is the slowest store Ive been to. I usually wait about 20 minutes at the register with only 2 or 3 people in front of me. They usually only have 2 registers open, and a returns/exchange register open too. They have plenty of employees walking around the store, but not enough working registers. It is this way every time I shop here...whether its around the holidays or not. Honestly, the employees do not even look like they want to help or get people through the lines quicker. Its sad when a business has great products and values, yet ruins the experience with poor and slow customer service. Another Hobby Lobby is about 20 minutes further from my house, but I wonder if it would be faster even driving the longer distance...or do all Hobby Lobby stores have this slow of service? Its pitiful.

HORRIBLE cashier experience, Linda S. was very rude when I simply asked about which coupon worked that I had pulled up on my phone. She stated rudely "Its ALWAYS the same coupon." (I am sorry I do not shop at Hobby Lobby every week). If that wasnt rude enough, she didnt even ring up my 40% off coupon on a Regular priced item. I will stick with Michaels from now on and I suggest everyone else will as well.
