You know that you are in for a Jewish food treat when you visit Meyerland where many of Houstons eastern European Jews live. The coffee shop serves many bagel-based sandwiches from the bagels baked next door. The menu offers a satisfying portion of whitefish salad and other appetizing fish, matzo ball soup, and deli sandwiches. The menu doesnt have some of the more unusual traditional foods like kreplach, noodle kugen, kishka or giant desserts like the other kosher-style deli in Houston, but they do offer a nice selection of breakfast all day (I plan to return for pecan waffles). Many of my Jewish friends love this place and eat here weekly or more. While I was eating I saw the staff check for items left behind by long-time regulars, so you can feel the love they have for their customers.

As someone else said on a review, straight out of a Seinfeld episode (both in ambiance and appearance). Im usually there for breakfast (which is served all day). There is a steady stream of regulars and police officers each morning that stop in to catch up on community goings on and have their coffee and bagels. The wait staff has been there long enough to have seen it all and are incredibly friendly and almost too aggressive in the coffee refills - in other words, everything youd want from your neighborhood diner. Lunch is a great variety of items. Never disappointed here and whats most important, the food, is all well prepared, fresh and worth the visit.

This isnt New York Fine Dining... however, the food is DELICIOUS. I took my wife here (we are in our early 20th, Wanna be hipsters) and we were surprised to find ourselves in a very out dated, some what smelly and confusingly laid out diner next to Walmart... Nevertheless, we browsed through old menus and settled on reuben sandwiches with a side order of an "everything" bagel. When I bit into single holed bread, I was hooked. Best Bagel Ive Ever Had! If not for a meal, you must come check out this bakery, and especially try out their bagels. Great little hidden treasure this place is, a must try when in Southwest Houston.

Good breakfasts, good service, v. reasonable prices. Even though it is apparently owned by Jews who are conscious of their dietary restrictions, you can still get bacon or ham with breakfast. It adjoins the bagel shop owned by same people but the bagel shop is take out only. You cant bring bagels from the shop to the cafe but can order them from the table. Bagels are very good.

the bagel sandwich I had was tasty, but the kids meal was way over priced. My 4 year old wanted regular bread instead of a bagel. $4.20 for one slice of thin bread and cheese, cut in half, with a pickle. not even sides. I asked for the other half of his sandwich because he was still hungry and they added $2. seems a little stingy.

It is a little slice of NYC in Houston. I have a friend from NYC that loves to visit this place when she comes down, since all the places that used to be like this up there have been run out of business. The prices and food are great. One of the best places to get corned beef and hash Ive found. The breakfast special cant be beat!

Food was tasty and fresh. Wonderful variety of freshly made bagels. Prices are reasonable. Service was friendly and helpful. A little crowded if you are claustrophobic, but it was all good. It had that friendly neighborhood feeling with a diverse clientele. We will be returning and making this a regular stop.

Decor could use some updating. Probably the same tables, chairs, and wall decorations in place since they opened 30 some odd years ago. Pretty good breakfast grub.
