I went there spent some time with them and the owner (I assume) showed me some guitars and a couple he had in the back. My mother was there with me when he offered me a guitar for a price if I "bought it today". I asked if he would give me the same price the next day if I came back as I wanted to research the guitar not knowing anything about it and he agreed. Went back the next day to buy the guitar and when he opened the door with the buzzer for us he then went in the back and left us out front for several minutes (didnt say hello or anything). He came out and when I told him I was here to buy the guitar he told the other employee to get the model name and started to look on the net about it or something, then came out to ask me if I wanted to make an offer on it. I remined him of what we talked about the day earlier and he tells me that he never offered it to me for that price or even at all, only that he wanted to show it to me "to tease me a little" and now wanted more than $1500 more than he said the day before. He also now said (not 4 minutes later) that the guitar was never offered for sale (even that day), huh? Other customer had come in by now and he starts helping them and now just ignoring me (after offering to now sell me a left handed guitar and telling me to string in backwards). So I stood there for about 10 minutes waiting for him to talk to one guy and then he just starts watching tv with the other guy who works there as if I am not really there and looking at some merchandise that someone brough in to sell. By this time I am kind of dissapointed by his service as I genuinely wanted to buy one or more of the "about 30 or 40 guitars" he had in the back and asked half jokingly "should I come back later...? Without hesitation whatsoever he say "yes" without even looking up! Really? I said. Yeah, he says. So I started for the door (quite un-impressed and feeling angry) I walked back and said in a loud enough voice so other customs could hear "so I guess if you dont want to sell a guitar then I will go some where else", he says "ok" as if its nothing! What is with this guy? Is he is the business to buy only or what? A pawn shop with 30 or 40 guitars in the back and another 20 out front and they dont want to sell any? Keep in mind that I was in there with my mother the day before and she bought 2 LV purses and an ipod. All he had to do was show me a few guitars of what I was asking for and I would have likely bought 2 of them. I planned to spend up to $1400 if the right guitars were there. I have to say this is the first time I ever met someone from Texas (as I am not) that was not a very nice, friendly, respectful person. I fact he was really just an arrogant jerk talking about how he "has never seen someone who got their wires crossed so bad about a price before" to his co worker as if I was not even there. My mother and I know for sure that we talked about THAT guitar for THAT price the day before. I would not have spent so much time trying to find out what it was if it was not offered for sale the day before. Would not buy there even if it was the only place to find the one guitar I always wanted. It was the worst cutomer service I ever experienced anywhere. I was thinking that karma will get him in the end... well it already did, he lost up to $1400 in sales at least from me. I will be buying 1 or 2 guitars in the next week and will be happy to shop else where. My advice to others is to do the same. I would give it less than one star if it was possible.

Ive been doing business with this place for 5 years. The inventory is priced high, but its not junk. Go to ANY pawn shop in the Houston area and they all want the same thing: a few bucks below retail. A&P might make you a fair deal, but dont lowball them. If you offer an unfair price, they wont play fair either. Its a business, they have overhead and costs, and they dont like their time being wasted. That said, they have always treated me fairly. Ive always received a fair loan and fair purchase. Could they be better? Yeah, sure. Everyone could. A lot of people are put off by the "old man" and I dont know why. Theyre not your friend. They dont care to chit-chat about anything and everything and make small talk. Theyre there to make money. Theyre not going to give you what you want but they are FAIR. Which is a LOT more than I can say for any other pawn shop I have been to. This is my go-to place, and it should be yours as well.

I have sold and bought items from this shop over the last few years and overall I had a great experience. First off yes the owner is straight forward but doesnt bother me much. On the items I sold he actually took the time to research and we were able to negociate a deal that worked for both of us. When it was time for me to purchase an item they allowed me to test it fully. They were not impatient and I was not rushed into a purchase. We were able to make deal on the item and I am still enjoying my purchase this day. They seem to specialize in pro audio and they are pretty knowledgable on these items. They also have a huge inventory of high end equipment which is a rare find at a pawn shop. I will continue to do business with A & P and encourage others to do the same.

They are honest. People like to complain because they need money and think their items are worth closer to what they paid, when the fact is there is an abundance of stuff out there these days and its really not that easy to sell sometimes, if it was theyd have already sold it instead of needing a loan. A&P has been in business as long as I can remember and have always treated me fairly. They dont pay for junk because its junk. They know quality is always a good investment. So people should quit ripping on A&P just because theyre broke, if you did business like A&P you wouldnt need a loan. Keep up the good work guys!

Ive been going to this pawn shop for years and I would, with no hesitation, say its the best one Ive ever been to. The owner is straight to the point and doesnt mess around. I read all these other ratings and they couldnt be further from the truth. In the pawn industry you need to make a profit, no questions asked. Im sure unintelligent people come in all the time trying to talk their way into what they think is a fair deal... Which clearly isnt. I wouldnt listen to any of these neggative reviews. Check it out for yourself, I wasnt dissappoited and you wont be either.
