I mainly go here for bike related stuff, occasionally clothing. The best part is that they are open till 9, it seems like everytime I need to get something for my bike its in the evening when other places are closed. Despite the fact that bikes are just a part of their inventory (most of their floor space is devoted to snow/water skiing) they have this uncanny ability to have what I need at the time or at least something that will work. There have been a few times they havent had it but thats been rare. Their general floor help is decent, not always knowledgable in the specifics but had some idea (far better than most sporting goods stores). The bike shop guys are pretty good. Not quite the gearheads Ive seen at some places but they know what they are doing. Ive taken my bike there for service several times, it usually takes a day or two but they get the job done. I had the drive sprocket on the rear derailer break and they replaced it for just the cost of parts since I bought the bike from them 10+ years ago. Took the bike in for a annual checkup (free if you bought it there) and they only fixed what was needed and didnt try to upsell. Ive bought and returned a fair amount of clothing, never had any issues or hassle. Their prices are average and they seem to time their sales and specials perfectly with their competition.

Reasonable prices, best selection in ATX if youre looking for ski gear. Ski options are pretty limited - here, Dicks, and the Academy. These guys provide a nice marriage between top quality and best value. I was able to get Northface and Spider gear at rates cheaper than online and the employees were very helpful. You dont run into people with extensive experience in Colorado all that often but these folks really knew their resorts! We took their advice and skipped Breckenridge and it was definitely the right decision. They also have an excellent selection of water sport boards and swimsuits. Cant emphasize enough how knowledgeable the staff is. Go after each season ends and get huge discounts on quality brands.

Particularly if you need ski gear, this is the place to visit in Austin. It has all of the high-priced brand names-- the North Face, Columbia, Patagonia-- but stocks lesser-known brands as well, meaning theres a variety in overall cost. The staff was extremely helpful and friendly, and did not push the most expensive gear available, which I really appreciated. They even gave me weather updates and insider tips for my ski trip to Breckenridge, CO. They also have some fantastic sales around mid-February if youre looking to invest in some nice ski clothing or gear.

We visited Sun & Ski to buy a pair of bikes for getting some modest exercise and for cruising around town. Staff was very helpful and took quite a bit of time explaining the options. They were very knowledgeable and let us test drive a few options before buying. This was a much more positive experience than we had at several Austin sporting goods stores where it seemed that we knew more than the sales person (and that doesnt say much). We live north of Austin so Sun & Ski was very conveniently located for us being a short drive off of Mopac.

Went here to get a ski accessory. I needed to get into the one locked case in the whole store. The contents of the case were a disorganized mess. I waited by the case for some time expecting an employee to see and offer to help… nothing. I then went to the bike counter to ask the repair guy if he could find me a key. He walked to the front to find someone. I walked back to the case and waited for no one to show up. I left the store and as I was walking out empty handed the first employee to initiate conversation said, “have a good one bud.”

Went to get a bike tune up but they didnt even clean the chain. Not to mention the sales people are very hit or miss. From people who are very professional and knowledgable to the back talking hipster that just wants you out of the store. There are too many good bike shops in Austin for me to waste any more time here.

Nice store. Great layout. Decent selection of mostly everything. Staff is very friendly and helpful and not at all over-bearing. Theyre conveniently around when you need them and busy doing their jobs when you dont. I like the selection of winter gloves they had in season.

I received excellent service here. We inquired about bikes, roller blade wheels, sunglass holders, electrolyte drinks, and kids goggles. The staff was extremely helpful. The prices at the big outdoor bike sale stood up well in an online comparison.

Brought my bike in for a repair, and the mechanic basically destroyed my bike trying to fix it rendering my perfectly good rear wheel now unusable because he thought it would be a brilliant idea to put the rear hub in a vice

Just came back from purchasing a new set of snowskis/boots/bindings. Very knowledgeable. This is the place to go for snow ski packages in Central Texas. These guys knew their stuff.

They have the best service backed by a very knowledgeable, friendly staff. Like other retailers, they price match so thats no issue. Parking can be a challenge on weekends though.

Just like any other chain. Sometimes youll find a good price, but its better to shop local or just purchase something online.
