I dont normally write reviews, but this time I just had to! I just had an amazing experience at the Great Outdoor Provision Co. in Wilmington, NC. I am preparing for a trip and purchased a couple pairs of The North Face (quick drying) pants that I love. One pair had to be transferred from another store to get my size and that just took a couple of days. When I went back to the store to pick them up neither the salesperson nor I checked to see that the security device had been removed. (For whatever reason, it had not alarmed when I exited the store.) To my surprise as I was packing I discovered the device and went back to the store to have it removed. I explained to the salesperson that I needed a new eye glass retainer and as compensation for my extra trip to the store, I would appreciate that as a token gift. He said he was sure he could take care of that. He was very gracious and sincerely apologized for my troubles and inconvenience. As he was packaging my pants he handed me a $20 gift card, thanking me for my patronage and again apologizing for the inconvenience! Now - that is customer service! I love the merchandise this store offers and now I especially appreciate the customer service!

Although I have never made a single purchase from this store I have to say it is one of the best all around outdoor stores I have been in. My Father and I were recently getting some ideas on what we wanted in a kayak. Well GOPC had a plenty for us to look at as well as an abundance of other high quality outdoor items. Unfortunately I do not remember his name but an older gentleman that worked there was so very helpful when answering our questions and pointing us to the right people in the industry to help us get started. It was certainly an A+ experience for us and I will definitely be going back...

I had an awesome experience here purchasing my kayak. The staff was very friendly and helped me through the entire process. They even helped me load it on my car! They have everything outdoor related that you could ask for. If youre an avid adventurist I cant recommend this place more!

Great outdoor store if you want the " small business" feel but the big store brands! If you want Patagonia or north face stuff, this is the place! Climbing stuff, kayaking, and even dog stuff. The best part is they have plenty of info on local activities in case youre new to the area.

These folks are a prime example of why you should buy local. I recently purchased a kayak from GOPC, the outstanding service,and the added value that I received, made doing business with them a pleasure. Expert staff that provides valuable information is always readily available.

Great staff, seriously. Wonderful fishing, hiking, climbing, backpacking supplies and clothing. Perfect place for Christmas shopping too, as during the Christmas season they have people to help wrap.
