ive been buying & selling my clothes here (& other locations across the nation) for 20 years or more. its hit or miss on both ends, but the average is great! as a seller, you need to remember its a business, in the business of making money...the employee who goes through your clothes, is picking out what they know will sell, following current trends. even then, they may already have 100 size M ironic t-shirts & cant buy anymore that week or month. try again later. & then of course its seasonal. theyre not going to buy long sleeves in june or tank tops in january. & just because its a high-dollar designer, doesnt mean its "good"... finding something i really like, in my size, that fits the way i want it to is, as i said, hit or miss... like anywhere else youd shop. & when i do find that item or more often, items...yeah, me! if i had to spend 8 hrs trying to buy from/sell to jerks w/ entitlement issues & folks who act theyve never been in public before, id be in a pissy mood at times, too. but overall, i think the staff is great...! just FYI : dont think that other shoppers arent affected by your obnoxious behavior...quit talking loudly on your sell phone, quit treating the staff like theyre your personal servants, quit bitching...shut up & shop! & whats w/ leaving your trash on the clothes racks!? ew... do you think anyone wants to look at your lipstick smeared used coffee cup? heard of a trash can? ga-ross... review turned into a rant, ha,

I have been purchasing clothing from Buffalo exchange for over 5 years (I go to UT and live across the street). I am here to tell you that this place is not worth your money! Today, I decided to purchase a pair of 7 For All Mankind jeans, and a skirt. The jeans were priced at $14 (great deal, right?) and the skirt was $8.50. I went to purchase my clothing, and as I handed the checkout woman my credit card, she proceeded to tell me that they had mis-priced both articles of clothing. WHAT!!??!! She indicated that the skirt should actually be $15 and she was sure the jeans must be atleast $40. She told me that she would have to reprice the items. When I asked her if she could atleast put them on hold for me, she told me she wouldnt and that they would be reracked. This is absolutely absurd. How dare they price items at a certain price and then conveniently increase the price after I decide to purchase them? This place is overpriced, the employees are rude, and its not worth being treated like crap. I proceeded to shop at goodwill and found an equally good pair of 7 For All Mankind jeans for $13. I will never shop at Buffalo again. They lost a devout customer today.

I had heard good things about Buffalo and decided to try it out. What a mistake! The staff was exceedingly rude, the store layout was impossible to manage, and the selection was awful at best. I, initially, assumed I was just struck by a difference in location than what Im used to and stayed for a bit. I ended up having a conversation with one of the women at the buying counter. Rude! Whats even better is she was so busy being trendy and "knowing" everything that she didnt even know how amazingly rude she was! Granted, a friend of mine had warned me that this place was not the greatest. She had had items stolen from her when she tried to sell them here. She had brought in some designer items, along with more run-of-the-mill stuff. All her items were "turned down", but only about half of her belongings were returned to her with a snide comment of, "I dont know why you bothered with these." If you are looking for a more central place to shop that isnt too heavy on the pocketbook, this may be a good idea for you - just ignore the staff and dont bother trying to sell here. They are nothing but condescending and very, very rude.

Ive been shopping here for years and have had universally positive experiences. Its fun to rummage through their large collection for "treasures", and Im pleased (and a bit smug) when I get compliments and know I paid only a fraction of what my friends pay for their new designer clothes. When my niece visits (she attends college in NYC and is a very trendy dresser), shopping here is one of our "must do" outings. I was surprised to read that some people feel they were treated rudely by staff, as the staff with whom Ive interacted have been nothing but courteous, friendly, knowledgeable, and helpful in offering advice and assistance. I especially appreciate this as I am a forty-something shopper and thought I might be intimidated by the young and hip staff. Instead, they always make me feel welcome- and are exceptionally warm and kind to my young son. We love you, Buffalo Exchange!

This place is usually worth a look, but is mostly overrated. You will find some interesting stuff, but Id say at least 35% of the merchandise is complete dreck that no one would ever buy, especially at those prices. As for bringing stuff in, fuhgeddaboutit unless you are so tragically hip that you are barely alive. After they refused almost all my stuff, I sat down and watched the other folks coming in with stuff. A tattoed heroin addict type had all of his stuff accepted, even though it was visibly just as grungy as he was. A nondescript lady had some gorgeous high-end shoes rejected, while another woman who might have been a circus performer got most of her stuff in. My advice, if you really want to unload some old clothes, is to get your skinniest, youngest, weirdest friend to dress up in a Halloween costume and take it in for you.

I frequent this plebeian location due to its lower-caste appeal but I often have to wear a disguise so that the filthy troglodytes dont snatch my coin-purse. This is relatively easy though as it is a clothing store full of filthy articles riddled with the everyday fluids and colloids of the impoverished lower class. I simply adore the ingenuity of the peasants who work here as they strive for meaning in their short and pointless lives. I did, however, find a three wolf moon shirt here once and immediately snatched it up. After donning it, I have found that my blood pressure medicine gives me precise control over blood, giving me a power similar to telekinesis. My blood has since become my best friend (its hard for me to befriend any other human because I just know their blood is dirty) and us noble-bloods have had the best of time.

The truest trends bubble up from the street - the hot asphalt of Guadalupe, to be exact. Thin t-shirts, old cowboy boots, belts, skinny legs, skinny shirts, Goth, Lolita, short shorts, Dred Locks, no old fashion maven in a tall building dictates "what to wear" here. This is not a vintage clothing store. Its rags are meant to be worn everyday - not kept in a dark closet. The styles come from the fashion instincts of the hot but cool, hip young people who buy at Buffalo Exchange. So, by all means, get to Buffalo Exhange - your cool guy/gal look awaits you. And, if you are not sure what that look is, hang out, learn, people watch and talk to the friendly staff. You will find your way. By all means, take a dare!! Buffalo Exchange in Austin is a very special place in the world. (confession - I sell my stuff here)
