I had a very unpleasant hair cut experience at JC Penny salon. It was around 7pm on Aug 3, and I took my 9 year old son to JC Penny salon for a hair cut before the start of the school year. The receptionist checked me in and walked away, I stood there waiting about 10 minutes with a new born baby. Finally, a nice middle aged lady with light blond hair asked her co worker "Has she been served?" .... Then the receptionist finally walked back to me and told me that Hannah will be my sons hair dresser once she get done cleaning the floor. Then I was waiting another 10 min while Hannah seemed to take her time sweeping the floor. Hannah who was a very young woman started to cut my sons hair very quickly, when suddenly i heard my 9 year old son start to crying. Hannah stared at me very quick to see if i heard the crying and suddenly started the blow dryer while my son was still crying! I asked her to stop the blow dryer because my son seems to be hurt! I checked his hair line which had a red rash and asked what made him cry? He pointed to the back of his neck about 2 inches below the hair line, and there I saw a cut where the skin was obviously scrapped by the clipper blades! I was very upset and asked to speak with a manager. Later a manager came by, before i could say anything Hanna tried to talk to the manager before me. She said " It is not like what you think, this is just how kids are." My son is not toddler or baby, he would not lie and cry for no reason!! This is not how 9 year old normally behave. He has gone to other salons for years and never had any issues!!. My son yelled and was very upset and cried out loud for a long time, that is not normal behavior for a 9 year old unless the were in a lot of pain. This is a hair dresser who just graduated from school and wont even say sorry. Hannah explained that when she started to buzz the back of his head that my son started to shake, that is why he got cut. First off, I was sitting 4 feet from him and know that my son did not shake at all , i was watching the whole time. Secondly, even if he did shake, if she had any experience as a hair dresser at all, this kind of accident would never happen. I am truly disappointing about this kind of unprofessional service. My son and I went to the front counter where I was talking to one lady, when the manager came up to us and asked my son if he wanted some powder. When my son did not answer, the manager told him to "come on" and took my son back into salon area again and put some powder and sprayed some liquid on my sons neck. After that i mentioned a law suit , the manager then said "Hannah grab your phone and take a picture" and then Hannah did. Hello!! My son is a minor, this is not legal for them to take any pictures of my child, plus AFTER put on the powder.. I asked Hannahs last name and no one would tell me because the manager said for legal reasons but she is the only Hannah working at the salon. Again, i am so disappointment about the employees behavior and attitude today . ALL I REALLY WANTED WAS AN APOLOGY FROM THIS YOUNG GIRL, but she never said anything close to it.

Before I start, allow me to say that this is only towards the people I had experience with and the staff present at the time, so Im sure there are probably nice people there but not when I went. First off, the receptionist came off snobby and she wasnt even working. She was sitting down talking while I was getting my hair cut which turned out a way I could have done myself. This is why I only like going to places that cost a lot for a reason: the good service and friendly people. The girl who did my hair was okay but not good enough for me to come back. The other girls working were also just sitting around me basically in a circle when they could be actually doing work. I wouldnt even complain if they were not snobby. It must be nice to get paid to do nothing. The next day I went to return an unused bottle of crap that was expensive that I really didnt need, but Im bad at saying no without guilt. I was standing at the front desk for ten minutes and this stylist saw me waiting. She would not say anything or approach me until I actually said hey do you have a receptionist who can help me for a minute? She said no we dont can I help you... I told her I want to make a return and she asked why which really irritates me. Then she tried correcting me like well its supposed to do this to your hair not curl it. I said thanks but I still dont want it and I spent way too much money yesterday. She didnt respond and just did the return for me . I have worked in salons and retail before , and that unfriendly level of customer service is unacceptable. I rarely complain about places because I can relate to a certain extent, but I will not return here. Id rather spend a little more money to get my hair cut and styled patiently and treated like a customer. Go only if you dont like to spend a lot of money.

I was so shocked and embarrassed that I almost cried! Im a mom of 6 kids age ranging 5 years old to 16 years old. My oldest son is very thin and very tall. The only place we can find jeans to fit him is at JCPenneys online. Just recently I started shopping in the store. The last two times I have gone in, my experience has not been so good. Last week I went to the return counter and waited well over 10 minutes before I finally decided to just leave and come back later. Tonight I went back in to try and do the same return, this time a female employee was trying to exchange a jacket she bought online that was too small for a larger size they had in the store. She did not want the money credited back to her card, she just wanted to do a simple size exchange. The male employee behind the desk was new and struggling a bit. The female was trying to talk him through it but they finally decided to call a manager. He too was getting frustrated trying to figure it out. Meanwhile, Im still standing there waiting, watching and listening. The problem they were having is; if you purchase something online, in order to exchange it, it has to be credited to your account and then you have to repurchase the new item. However, the female did not want to do that. I made a suggestion that she could purchase the jacket in the size that she wanted with cash and then return the smaller one with the receipt she just got. The manager pointed at me & shouted "mind your own business!" I was so shocked and embarrassed that I almost cried! No problem... I will "mind my own business" by taking my business elsewhere...
