My wife and I visited this bookstore during the Pumpkin Festival. As we both enjoy reading, we wanted to check the place out while we were in downtown Franklin. We really did not have any intentions of buying or not buying anything. Had something caught our eye at what we considered a reasonable price we would have bought it. After browsing the selection for 20-30 minutes, my wife and I both needed to use the restroom. A man walked over while we were standing in line to use the restroom and began complaining about the line. I went into the restroom at about this time and after exiting the restroom he was still there complaining. It didnt take long before I realized that it was the owner of the bookstore. He asked me if I was going to be one of those people that came into the bookstore to use the restroom and not buy anything. I told him that I guess I was going to be one of those people but that I hadnt come into the store for the purpose of using the restroom. He told me that I could leave $10 at the checkout when I left. I dont think Ive ever been treated so rudely in a business. I realize it must be frustrating when people are using your business as a place to use the restroom, but I cant imagine it is a very good business practice to be such a jerk to potential customers. We will never go back.

A nice, quaint bookstore housed in an historic building in downtown Franklin, TN. Owners Joel and Carol Tomlin are very welcoming and knowledgeable about the area. They sponsor book signings and know many of the authors whose books they sell. Their inventory includes a wide variety of books on many topics with emphasis on Tennessee, Civil War, the South, and local history. I bought three books I was very pleased to find. Keep in mind that this store has a number of one-of-a-kind books some of which are rare and expensive. Its not your typical Barnes & Noble box store where you can pick up something and expect the employees to put it back where it belongs. If you like small, independently owned bookshops with a lot of atmosphere and character this one is definitely worth visiting.

A must-stop when visiting Franklin. Read (and buy) local. A real bookstore, where the owners run the register and have put their hands in every volume they sell. Deep southern authors and local authors selections, as well as Civil War histories, biographies, etc. New and used books, incredibly comfortable and plentiful seating ... the kind of pkace I never go with buying something. Now I just have to make more time to get in there.
